Louis Preston Trimble (2 March 1917 - 1988) was an American writer and academic. His published work included science fiction, westerns, and mysteries, as well as academic non-fiction. He generally wrote as Louis Trimble, but used the pseudonym "Stuart Brock" for some of his work.
An ok western tale about a Lt Cordell who is after a theif and murderer named Lansford. Lansford and a couple of partners stole 250k worth of gold, now Cordell has to find them and the gold. However he has other reasons to want to find Lansford, personal reasons which may make it hard to take him alive. Throw in another band of killers and a girl smitten with the robber to make Cordell's job even harder. I have this as an Ace double with Tom West's The Buzzard Nest, which is the better story. Though they are similiar in a way.
Just a so so story, well worth reading but cant say I would recommend anyone to rush out and get it.
