Marley's Way: A guide to choices in cancer treatment, surviving, thriving and accepting death.

Rate this book
At the age of only 24, Marley was diagnosed with a rare cancer, a malignant nerve sheath tumour on his vagus nerve, he was given a year to live. The youngest ever to make a conscious decision to have surgery but no further medical treatment. He underwent major surgery at the Royal Brompton hospital in Chelsea. An even rarer cancer called Triton was found inside the removed tumour. Whilst awaiting diagnostics and many unexpected delays, which to most patients could have been very stressful, he steadfastly used this opportunity to research only science based evidence and found plan B. He radically changed his diet and lifestyle. He took responsibility and implemented the changes before the surgery, recovered amazingly quickly, he attended crossfit sessions 8 weeks after. He lived an incredibly healthy year but tragically the cancer returned. He did amazing well, apart from keeping an eye on him, not one trip to oncology or the GP. He travelled to Ibiza alone 20 days before he died and still managed pull-ups in the 5 days he was in the hospice. He did not heal his cancer but healed his life and he died peacefully with his family, calmly, spiritually conscious, fearless and with no regrets. This book started out as a diary to record events and the protocols he chose, his growing awareness of mind, body and soul. An inspirational story of love and hope, it covers his protocols he chose, his reasoning behind his decision. His now fearless mother carried on writing in the Tsunami of grief. A very personal record of a family being kept afloat in that year of incredible change by their friends, family, community, faith and the kindness of others. His mother kept on writing in an attempt to help others needing help in their choice for alternative cancer healing. She gives insight into the emotional toolbox needed for such a hard endeavour and raises a huge signpost to the thousands of quiet warriors who have survived and thrived and some not so quiet like Chris Wark (chrisbeatcancer.com) A cancer survivor, a best selling author helping others to help themselves through science based evidence and bringing a cancer healing community of thousands together. Sadly there are no guarantees in any cancer treatment but this is a must read for anyone wanting to walk a different path.

“May my footsteps stay printed on the long road less travelled, offering direction for those who come behind.”
