I got an ARC of this book.

So my obsession with this series is real. I very much have talked about this book with every human who has talked to me for more than a few moments. Pretty sure my coworkers think I am just making up plots to books now. Probably shouldn’t have read them the titles from Chuck Tingle and expected them to still believe me about books. But I promise you gay trans ghost hunting romance is a real plot (and that every title of a book I have claimed is real is i fact real).

This book picks up right after the last full length novel. The boys head off to the next haunt and it appears to be September. Halloween has not happened, but I can’t imagine a bigger haunting than this one. Seriously. A ghost boat? I am intrigued. I have never heard of a ghost boat outside of Scooby-Doo, but so far the hauntings in Silver’s books have not been weirdly elaborate ploys to cover crime. I was so enthralled with this story. There was so much I was not expecting when it came to the haunting itself.

The romance took on a deeper level. There was still the high sex drive and the jokes, but the men started to really interact on a deeper emotional level. Some of Chad’s stuff started coming up. There is more of a tragic backstory for Dan. I started to feel like the men were actually people I was rooting for for more than just hot sex. The sex even grew with them. Chad grew more comfortable with Dan and Dan has shown that he is really a cis guy that isn’t completely clueless (thankfully). I am annoyed that dysphoria played a larger role in this book, but it also really fit the story and where the characters were in their interactions so I can’t even really be mad about it. None of the trans plot lines were about being trans, but more about being Chad. It was well done.

The medium plot was unexpected and a bit off putting at first. I am going to reserve judgement until I see where it goes, but I feel like it could either make the series more fascinating or it could kill my interest. I don’t see a lot of in-between. Which of course means I will read every book I can, I’ve already read everything that is currently out.

3.5 stars!

I really liked that we got more of Chad and Dans relationship with this one. It can’t be easy going from not really knowing each other to being in a relationship and living together and I thought it was interesting to watch as the two adjusted to their new reality. It gave the relationship a very realistic edge, and I appreciated that. They both have things to work on, but you can see the love and know that their relationship is strong and will make it.

The ghost story this time around was really interesting and incredibly spooky. Silver brought the ghosts to life on the page, and I would not suggest reading this one with the lights off!

This series is scary. If you believe in ghosts, which I do, then it makes me stop & think, will/can they hurt me if they get mad or if I cross the path of a malevolent one. Anyway, we are on our second investigation and it is investigating the deaths of some teens in a boating accident. There are allegations that one of the kids was responsible for their deaths. There is only one survivor. The community is torn apart as some believe he was responsible and some do not. At a time when they should come together to help each other heal, they turn their backs on each other. So there are conflicting stories, if the one being accused of the deaths was at fault, why is he helping people? There are accounts of him standing in the road to make people slow down because of icy roads, moose, etc. I enjoy the investigation portion with the interviews and the "stake-outs". I had a portion of it figured out but not the main portion as there were no clues to lead you down that path. IMO this can be read as a stand-a-lone, but why would you want to!

Hawk Lake: DHH #2
MMy Thoughts, Confessions, and Review:

Believe it or not, I sat on this story a full week before writing this review. I needed to chew on the story for a little while, but I must confess there may have been a teensy bit of procrastinating going on too. However, the procrastinating and chewing sort of went hand so we'll just go with "philosophically using our little grey cells," and move on. *giggles...

In this story our ghost hunting adventurers, Dan and Chad find themselves in a small town, on the Eastern Northcoast. The town has been divided since a tragic boating accident killed a handful of teens several years ago. The leader of the small boating excursion was blamed and by proxy his parents.

So, as the years passed, people in this small town who once called themselves friends became enemies, families have become complacent and just go through the motions of daily life without living it. They too, phantoms, though they are still made of flesh and bone.

It is said Markus, the young man blamed for the boating tragedy who is said to now work in the afterlife to save strangers from time to time. Some say, he shows up to warn people of storms or pending accidents.

So, Dan and Chad the ghost hunting team have been asked to step in and find some answers for the families. Put to rest any ghosts, and hopefully bring to the surface some answers to the mountain of questions surrounding the deaths of ones so young.

I know I mentioned in book one about how fun, scary, and entertaining in equal measure Alex Silver's writing style is, and it is quite the same in "Hawk Lake." As the MC's work on their professional relationship, they have to also work on their still new personal relationship. I imagine it isn't easy to work, eat, sleep, breathe the same air, and be around someone 24/7. So, I liked that Silver gave both Dan and Chad layers and that not all those layers were YouTube star-worthy moments.

This was another winner for me, and I am absolutely in love with Karen, the secondary character who gives Dan hell. She's a gifted psychic who sees Dan as a hack with toys, and while Dan may have extreme latent gifts of his own (because I believe we all have gifts to some degree) he has a heart of gold, and his goal is the same as Karen's...to help spirits find peace. He just helps out scientifically whereas Karen works strictly by spirit and intuition.

What Dan learns however is not every spirit seeks rest or light, or to move on. This time the cost is something Dan pays real attention to. I think Karen will have both he and Chad worked into shape before all is said and done. Oh yes, she is definitely my kind of gal, and I have it on very good authority she will be around for a while yet. (thanks, Alex)

Lovin' the heck outta this series so far!

Happy to be back with Dan and Chad on their investigations. There is a really good continuation of their relationship with both the highs and lows highlighted both personally and professionally. It definitely makes things harder for both men as they continuously share such a small space and Chad is struggling with his own feelings of being enough for Dan in both regards. They withdraw from each other when things don't go well but that just highlights the need for good communication, especially as they work together constantly on the vlog whilst dating as well.
The Haunt mystery is interesting, a little harder to work with as it's a more recent death than they normally work with, even dividing the local community. Dan and Chad work really well together, balancing each others strengths and weaknesses. There's a strong connection that really pushes them through the tough times, occasionally intense and dangerous and I totally didn't see the twist coming that the author has added. It's great writing from Alex Silver as they draw you into the MC's relationship as well as those who have passed away and what could have possibly happened out on the lake.
Highly recommend this book and the series. I'm enjoying the mysteries and the relationship building between Chad and Dan.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

And the fun continues..
I have to say I really am enjoying this series. I loved book #1 and the associated short stories ( please do check them out, they are a treat) and book #2 picks off from where we left off as we see Dan and Chad travel to the haunted Hawk Lake in Maine and proceed to experience one of their most intense haunting adventures.

As the duo uncover the mystery behind the haunting of the Hawk Lake and the tragic death of 4 teenagers, they also work their way around personal problems, insecurities and sharing responsibilities.

Dan's persona seems to have undergone a major character development and we also see Chad flourishing under Dan's TLC- showing courage and also exploring some skills that he might have discovered he possessed.

I have to admit that author's brilliant descriptions in this book augment the suspense and the horror and eerie factor comes off pretty strong in this one (*I'll admit to cuddling close to my dog at some parts*). And the climax scenes were very well written.

Overall, a great addition to what is turning out to be a hauntasic ( never gonna let the opportunity to use that word go) series. Shall be looking forward to book #3.

The second book is amazing! I love Dan and Chad's Hauntastic Haunts and their adventures. This time, they are settled into their new roles as business partners and lovers. Dan and Chad head off to the next haunted spot in Hawk Lake, Maine, to investigate a haunting. Dan is in the middle of PT on his injured leg from the previous book and Chad feels like he has something to prove as Dan's business partner and boyfriend. He wants to make sure the Hawk Lake video is the best one ever.

Both of them have to dig up some traumatic events from the townspeople's memories to find out what happened during a tragic boating accident. A ghost ship haunts the lake and may have caused the deaths of 4 teenagers. The tragedy tore about the entire town and Chad and Dan have to tread carefully. Some secrets might be better left buried than unearthed.

As both of them try to figure out what is going on, they also have to deal with some miscommunications and relationship bumps. There was a surprise twist in the book that threw me for a curveball but wow! It was a heck of a spooky and creepy ride. I love Chad and Dan's Hauntastic Haunts and I'm excited for Book 3 :)

Well, the author has delivered us another fine story of Dan and Chad as they travel about in their special van to bring ghosts and people the peace they need. This time the site is a Maine lake. Five teenagers die in a boating accident and it tore the town about. Now twenty years later our heroes arrive to absolve this situation. Can they do it. Things are not what they seem and Chad faces death to find out. Dan is almost recovered from his broken leg, but not quite there yet so Chad has to use his own ingenuity to get him out of his fixes. Twists and turns in this story keep the reader on the edge of their seat and I look forward to the new release so I can keep up with these two master ghost hunters. This series is worth reading for all you ghost lovers out there.

Daniel and Chad are investigating sightings at Hawk Lake of someone walking the shore and ghost ship from an incident that all but split the town years earlier. As they are working to find out the story behind the rumors, they discover more than they ever thought was possible.

This story along with following Daniel and Chad's relationship will leave you in surprise and questioning those ghost stories that you grew up with. I absolutely love this couple and how the stories of ghosts and hauntings do not overtake the story of their relationship.

Daniel and Chad investigate their second haunting at Hawk Lake. Two decades ago, a high school graduation party turned tragic when a sudden storm killed four teenagers boating on the water.

Paranormal Investigators wish they had such amazing ghost hunting toys, video evidence and Vanessa—-a modern ‘Mystery Machine’ outfitted with all the best amenities!

This one is better edited than the first book. Although you don’t need to read the series in order, I highly recommend it. Happy reading!

Another fantastic adventure!!! Alex Silver is brilliant! Starting by the plot, so complex and unique, another scary mystery that got me at the edge of my seat the whole time, following by a development in their relationship in which they got closer and their feelings stronger after some bumps in their road. OMG! Simply a perfect addition to the series setting the bar higher for the next installment. I can't wait!!!

Nice sequel

I really liked this second book in the series.

It was very interesting. The mystery was even more intriguing than the previous one, the story pulling us in all sorts of new directions. I really liked it. I love the way they handle the ghosts and the different reactions to haunting. The internet crew was good too.

I liked the relationship aspect of things, the way it's not all rainbow and roses was nice. It felt more real and sweet.

Nice book overall

I really enjoyed reading this book. It shows more of the relationship between the two characters and how they are growing together. A skeptical and a believer start building a wonderful relationship. The skeptical starts to learn there just may be more than meets the eye out in the world. Together they find the truth. I look forward to seeing what happens next to these characters.

Dan and Chad are back at it again, hunting ghosts! They are determined to help a group of teenager’s cross over to the beyond. But they get more than they bargained for with angry spirits intervening. Good story, well written. Loved it!

A Ghostly Good Time

I'm loving this series, it feeds my need for the paranormal and romance. I love ghost hunters, all the research and the quest to find out what happened and how to help ghost move on, or get did of an evil spirit. And this book brings all that out, but you also get Chad and Dan's growing relationship, and I love these two.

When Ghosthunting with your boyfriend turns serious

I was delighted to go along for the ride with Dan and Chad once more. This time they navigate new relationship troubles while tackling a recent haunting with a tragic back-story that might still be unfolding. Awesome addition to the series!

I thought the first book was fantastic, and would be hard to beat.....WRONG!!! This marvelous, amazing, fascinating, unconventional, bittersweet, sexy, grab-you-by-the-feels, and totally awesome story left it in the dust. I would recommend getting this great book for yourself ASAP.

Okay story, but in dire need of copyediting and proofreading. The author has little understanding of punctuation and grammar.

I'm hooked on this series! I want to read lots more adventures and hauntings with Chad and Dan.
Hawk Lake was plenty scary and with a few twists. One twist I saw coming but it didn't quite pan out like I thought and I loved that!
I really ought not to read these before bed though 😂😂
