A compulsive and obsessive read. The clues are there for DI Ball and Jake Hughes to discover. But will they? It’s a continuation of the Sartori Crime Family saga that opens at a funeral where someone commits a murder. (No spoilers given). This is the sequel to A Walk to Revenge, Sam Thompson's and this engrossing series continues to tell the story of the Sartori crime family.
When the murder of Archbishop Fitzpatrick takes place at the funeral of Roberto Sartori, the former Don of the family and his brother Giovanni comes under a deadly attack, DI Jonty Ball suspects that Billy Jones the new Don of the family may be behind it and swears to bring him to justice.
Shortly afterwards, Emily Hughes, wife of Jake Hughes, who had helped Jonty research and identify the murderer of Paul Jennings, is kidnapped in Boone, back in the USA. Jonty is sure that the kidnapping of Emily is connected and that Billy Jones and his associate the disgraced former Police Superintendent John Quinn are behind this too. Jonty gets permission to travel to the USA and help Jake to find out where Emily is being held and free her.
I wont spoil the enjoyment of readers by giving the plot away, but it is an engrossing read which kept me turning the pages. I was particularly pleased too, to see that Sam Thompson has left the way open for the story of the Sartori family to be continued in another novel.
Betrayal, kidnapping, murder and a mob family make this action-packed story a great page turner. Detective Inspector Jonty Ball and Jake Hughes are back and badder than ever! They’re on a mission to find a double-crossing criminal who escapes after a series of criminal activity strung from one country to the next. The suspense builds as the detective realizes just how twisted the dark truth gets while digging deeper into the facts. This story brings you from the past to the present with ease as the author presents what feels more like a true crime story than a crime thriller. It’s usually the other way around, Bravo!
Bottom-line: This creative and gripping organized crime story with its vivid scenes has a well thought out plot, the dialogue and characters are realistic, with smooth and descriptive narration that draws you in and holds you there. Well worth the read!
SARTORI The last rites, or the last wrongs? The characters spring to life with detailed descriptions of their personalities, temperaments and styles, whilst Gangland skirmishes add to the suspense. Time marches on towards what could be a horrifying conclusion as Inspector Ball frantically struggles to save the day. His task seems impossible, but can he pull it off? Find out in Sam Thompson’s 5-STAR thriller, SARTORI.
I really enjoyed the sequel to A Walk to Revenge. It starts of with Jake and Em back in the USA carrying on their lives as normal, but it very quickly gets disturbed in the most horrendous way! I loved the two shocking things that happen as they came really unexpected! It throws Jake back into a dangerous pursuit with the help of Jonty. I love him as a detective as he's not afraid to get his hands dirty and blur the lines of the law somewhat. There are a couple of repetitions of what happened in book one, which for me weren't necessary as it was still fresh in my mind, but it is quite helpful if you have left a bit of a gap between the two. Once again, the end left me wanting to read on, so please hurry with book three!
A great book number two! Jake and Emily are back in the USA, but the peace and quiet of their new lives destroy as Emily is kidnapped. Sam Thompson once again filled the pages with adventure as two connecting stories unfold. The Sartori family is just so darkly rich to read about. I don’t have the best memory and I appreciated the flashback to book one.
Just like book one, I found the writing to be very clear and organized. A great crime novel with deep characters and smooth descriptions. I still love the diversity of locations, though it wasn’t quite as expansive in this book as the last. Defiantly worth a read.
I really enjoyed Sam Thompson’s first book – ‘A Walk to Revenge’ and so was excited to read the second book in the series, Sartori. This was another great read – I was gripped from the start and could not put it down. Opening with the funeral of the former head of the Sartori crime family, and the kidnapping of protagonist Jake’s wife Emily the plot brings Detective Jonty and protagonist Jake back together to solve the riddle of lies and deceit before it is too late. Really well written and enjoyable to read, I was unable to put this down – a brilliant sequel!
This book again was again right up my street, it is a fantastic sequel. I really enjoyed how DI Jonty Ball suspects that two crimes from different countries and how the author puts it altogether. I read a lot of Kmberly Chambers books and the authors writing style reminds me of her. So well thought out with it's gritty, grab the edge of your seat crime thriller. It is a must read, I highly recommend it and look forward to more from the author.
Yet again a brilliantly crafted book. I loved reading more about these characters and seeing the story unfold in the states, UK, present and past once again. The difficulty in that challenge is incredible but this author sews these peices together with ease. The foundations of this story are so strong, grounded, well researched and honoured that you can't help but feel you are there and the fight scenes are intricately detailed as is the suspense.
I love the description of each murder scene. Mob killings are unpredictable and at times you think everything is normal is when the next killing takes place. I love the going back in time reference which explains why family and friends feel the way they do. It is an excellent suspense and well written. Can’t wait to read the next book since like The Godfather, the torch is passed down.
It was good to see Toni and Giovanni come back! I loved those two from the first book. Only I have to say, these mobsters came back with even more firepower. When reading the book, it was more like something I read everyday. Machine guns and hostage situations! It seems like the special forces needed to be called. XD I can't wait for the next book!
Sartori: The Sequel to A Walk to Revenge by Sam Thompson is a gripping read! I couldn’t put it down and the writing flows so smooth that I finished it in a couple of reads. I’d really recommend this if you’re looking for a gritty crime thriller! Five stars.
Sartori picks up almost immediately after A Walk to Revenge and the author throws us into the action from the very beginning with a funeral, a murder and a kidnapping. DI Jonty Ball is on the ball right away and this time he comes even closer to crossing the line between the law and the criminals as he recruits the very criminals he hunts to assist him. This time Jonty is operating between the UK and the US to solve the kidnapping and the murder as both are connected. But can he achieve both? read it and find out!

Continuing on from the 1 st book A Walk To Revenge the sequel does not disappoint. Again the Sartori family bring more mess and misery.
Archbishop Fitzpatrick is murdered at Roberto Sartori’s funeral in Manchester and Detective Inspector Jonty Ball is out for Justice. Emily Hughes the wife of Jake (who in the first book was Paul reincarnated) has been kidnapped in the USA. Billy Jones is the new head poncho in the Sartori family and DI Jonty believes him and his dirty former superintendent Quinn are behind it. As they embark on a journey to USA to find her and free her they work through the web of deceit to untangle the mystery of missing Emily.
It’s a must read and like the first in the series never a dull moment. Taking the story between UK and USA. A book you really sink you teeth into as you engross yourself into the pages. Your imagination running wild as u start guessing and second guessing about who why where!!!!!
