Rate this book
Alma the Younger’s story from the Book of Mormon is well-known, as is his essential “And now behold, I say unto you, my brethren, if ye have experienced a change of heart, and if ye have felt to sing the song of redeeming love, I would ask, can ye feel so now?” (Alma 5:26). In this spiritually insightful book, author David T. Morgan examines Alma’s sermon closely, breathing humor and life into familiar scripture figures, while offering profound insights into how we can combine self-reflection with a study of the scriptures to improve and maintain spiritual power in our lives. Through amusing and heartwarming personal anecdotes and powerful psychological insights, Dr. Morgan shows the importance of remembering our spiritual experiences, and increasing them through charity, humility, and gratitude. He identifies unique insights from the story of Alma the Younger, and helps the people of the Book of Mormon become more relatable and inspiring. As you read and apply the principles in this book, your testimony will grow in your mind and your heart, and you will increase your feelings of hope and your desire to be more like your Savior.

I love Dr. Morgan's books. Full disclosure: I help him with editing, but I would read his books even if I didn't. He has a profound understanding of the gospel and a remarkable gift to apply the teachings of the Book of Mormon to our present-day lives (He and Nephi would be good buddies; see 1 Nephi 19:24).
What I love about Can Ye Feel So Now? are the unique perspectives on the familiar questions that Alma poses. My favorite was the power of remembering--you'll want a highlighter or pencil as you read to mark all the wonderful teachings and ideas. I also love Dr. Morgan's sense of humor, and how he imagines the characters of the scriptures as people we can relate to today; he makes them personable and relatable.
I highly recommend this book--I've read it at least three times and will read it again, and I've shared its insights with my family and seminary students too.
