Don’t Drink the Bathroom Water:A Guide To Living In Ireland is an amazing combination of humor, insight, helpful advice and tips for people thinking of living in Ireland.

As a person who has helped others navigate moving to and living in another country other than the USA, this book really is great for anyone who might want to live (even short term or studying abroad) in a different country. Things we take for granted or we assume are “normal” are very often considered strange in other countries.

Robin Castle uses her personal experiences and kindhearted humor to show what a harrowing but worthwhile adventure it can be to live in a place like Ireland. I loved reading her stories and experiences about moving to a place that I loved visiting myself a few years ago. If anyone were to ask me the best and most accurate book about real life in Ireland and what it’s like to move there, I would definitely recommend this book! 🇮🇪 it’s such a treat to read!

I think what impressed me the most about this book was that I couldn't put it down even though I've never had any desire to live in Ireland. So cleverly and humorously written, and such a fun way to learn more about the country. Really well done

A funny and informative guide! The book covers a range of useful topics, including cultural differences and the practicalities of getting stuff done in Ireland. The information is the most up to date that I've found and included aspects of Ireland that I've never heard before - useful for both visitors to Ireland and those planning to relocate. The style is so enjoyable and fun, making this a very enjoyable read!

Perhaps if there weren’t a pandemic I’d be packing now to move to Ireland. Page 51 ( the paragraph beginning with “The Irish are kinder. . .) would be reason alone while the epilogue supports the notion. Now is not the time for such move, but I’ll read this wonderful guide again and again picking up tips and terms while enjoying every bit of Robin’s wit. Read it even if you’re not planning to relocate, it’s informative and enjoyable!

This book is written with a lot of humor and I'm sure much of the information is going to be helpful for people who are permanently moving to Ireland or spending a longer amount of time there. Just one note: as the author herself moved from the US to Ireland, many of the things that were unusual or surprising to her would not be to Europeans/EU Citizens. But that doesn't take away from the book :)

Cleverly written and full of humour, the book portraits Ireland in an honest and useful way.
By the end of the book, you’ll hardly be able to resist the charm of the land of fairies but you’ll also have the tools to cope with all its peculiarities.
Even if written by an American prospective any foreigner moving to this beautiful country can relay at least to more than a few points.

Don’t drink the bathroom water

This is a practical guide about moving to Ireland; but as someone who’s lived in four different countries, there is a lot of generally relevant information about the process of moving.
Robin Castle covers a lot of ground but it’s beautifully written, clear and concise with a great vein of humour and lots of personal memories.

Quick, easy and helpful.

Ireland is a small country with a giant heart. I've been there and I remember many things, but I wondered about how much ishas changed since my time there. This book is up to date and helpful. The author keeps updating on her website. All in all a nice read that brought up happy memories.
