Remote Mob Programming combines two ways of Mob Programming and working as a distributed team. Jochen Christ, Simon Harrer and Martin Huber share their experience with their working model - and why they don’t want to work differently anymore.
Simon is a consultant, developer, and teacher who's always looking out for new technologies, frameworks, and ideas. His friends call him a clean code evangelist, but in a good way.
If you're planning to read it, don't expect it to be a book. It's thorough article about strategies for running a remote Mob Programming session.
Authors focus on the remote aspect of this collaborative way of working. If you're interested theory and further explanation they point towards "Code with the Wisdom of the Crowd: Get Better Together with Mob Programming".
All in all, I expected a quick read with a few good ideas I could implement and that's exactly what I got.
As already mentioned it’s not really a book but a quick recap from experienced people in the field who share their insights and arguments what worked and why (for them). For someone who is used to mob programming but doing it a bit differently this was quite interesting and thought provoking. Will definitely try out this approach with my peers.
We actually don’t rotate that often and we make regular breaks after 50 min. of Pomodoro. I think that works well too but I’m curious to find out what I’ll think after doing it as the authors suggest.
Easy superfast read. Great resource and starting point for any team that is wanting to try mob programming in a distributed environment. The pandemic has forced many of us into distributed work, so I hope this book gets some more eyes on it. I will certainly be reccomending it.
Covers the basics of a remote setup for mob programming that works for most developers that use git. It’s a simple setup that doesn’t require a lot of tools and it lets you use your preferred editor and your own local environment.
It may be short, but it's a fantastic quick-fire guide to fully embracing remote tools and culture in order to collaboratively create the future together.
A collection of useful tips on how to run remote mob programming. Not really a book to be honest, you can read it in half an hour or less, but if you know the topic (mob programming), you can get an effective overview on how to run a mob remotely.
