Y volvemos con Mascarell de nuevo, esta vez ya instalado como ayudante a la sombra del detective Fortuny. Contratados para investigar quien envia unos anónimos al marido de su clienta acaban investigando el asesinato de ésta, envueltos en todas las envidias y dramas que se viven detrás del mundo del espectáculo.
Muy bien ambientada y documentada, mantiene en vilo el misterio de la trama hasta las últimas páginas. Después de los casos más bien flojos de la anterior entrega, en esta vuelve el mejor Mascarell, haciendo un gran dúo con el detective Fortuny lleno de ironía y desencuentros políticos que le dan una nueva dimensión a la serie.
Muy bien ambientada y documentada, mantiene en vilo el misterio de la trama hasta las últimas páginas. Después de los casos más bien flojos de la anterior entrega, en esta vuelve el mejor Mascarell, haciendo un gran dúo con el detective Fortuny lleno de ironía y desencuentros políticos que le dan una nueva dimensión a la serie.

This is the eleventh novel in Jordi Sierra i Fabra’s Inspector Mascarell series. It is set in November 1951, just a few weeks after the tenth novel in the series.
Miquel Mascarell is now working as the partner of David Fortuny, the private detective we met in Diez dias de junio. A beautiful woman turns up at Fortuny’s office and asks the detectives to investigate a series of death threats that have been sent to her husband. The husband turns out to be a highly successful and ruthless impresario who has no shortage of rivals, mistresses and enemies.
They begin their investigation, with Mascarell taking the lead and Fortuny learning how he should do his job. The only contribution Fortuny can make is that he has contacts in the police that he can call on, whereas Mascarell avoids the cops like the plague. Those contacts aren’t always helpful for Fortuny, though, as at one point he is hauled up by a couple of plainclothes cops who are not at all happy about the dictatorship’s recent decision to licence private eyes.
The investigation looks likely to end abruptly when their client is murdered. Fortuny’s immediate response is to call it a day and find another client. However, Mascarell is determined to honour the dead woman’s memory by finding out who killed her……
This is another brilliant evocation of life in Spain under the Franco dictatorship wrapped up in a gripping detective story. Highly recommended by itself, but it would worth your while to read the previous novels in the series before tackling this one.

Las novelas de Mascarell normalmente ni defraudan ni decepcionan a sus seguidores y en esta ocasión tampoco. Ni siquiera cuando, como en esta ocasión, la última pieza del puzzle sea un detalle tan simple y que se ha usado tantas veces en todo tipo de novelas de misterio. Y precisamente esta es la gracia. Con una resolución bastante sencilla de prever, lo que cuenta es el camino y este siempre es satisfactorio, con sus diálogos, sus interrogatorios, los paseos por Barcelona, las escenas más costumbristas y, desde hace dos o tres entregas, los toques de humor a lo "buddy movie" con los que siempre quedan salpimentados los encuentros entre Mascarell y Fortuny, un dúo al más puro estilo "la extraña pareja".

Parece mentira pero, en un pispás, han pasado ya 11 historias de Mascarell desde su primer caso, coincidiendo con el fin de la Guerra Civil.
La incorporación de la agencia de Fortuny a la trama permite que, por una vez, las pesquisas no tengan que ver, directamente, con el pasado o presente del inspector. La investigación es puramente detectivesca y está bien hilada, como casi siempre.
Entretiene y se lee en dos ratejos. Que no es poca cosa ni sencillo.

Con Mascarell siempre sé que voy a triunfo seguro. Puede ser que algún día se de un batacazo, y yo con él. Pero ya van 11, y nunca defrauda. Otro caso, con su nuevo personaje divertido al lado. Genial Mascarell, genial Sierra i Fabra.

¡Jordi Fabra i Sierra lo hace de nuevo! Maravillosa saga del Inspector Mascarrell y sus aventuras investigadoras. ¡Ojalá y este autor escriba muchos más libros del Inspector Mascarrell los he leído todos y me fascinan! Nuevamente, excelente trabajo, ¡me tenía enganchada hasta el final!

Un altre magnífic thriller policíac en el qual, a diferència d’anteriors lliuraments de la saga, hi destaca la trama i la investigació policial per sobre del marc històric de l’Espanya i la Barcelona dels primers 50. L’autor no abaixa el llistó ni la qualitat de la sèrie Mascarell

Cómo siempre el autor no defrauda ni en literatura infantil ni en novela negra . Elegir un libro de el es siempre un acierto. Este en concreto dibuja muy bien la situación de encorsetamiento durante la dictadura. Me quedan ganas de leer más de esta serie.

Me encantan todos los libros de esta serie. Los he leído casi todos y ninguno me ha decepcionado. Son fáciles de leer, son entretenidos y creativos. El personaje principal es un hombre excelente. Es honrado, idealista, lucha por la justicia y sabe amar con pasión y con ternura.

Otra novela de Mascarell de la que disfruté mucho. El tema de los abusos sexuales en el mundo del espectáculo está bien pintado, pero la dictadura aparece menos que en ciertas novelas de la serie.

Siempre que leo un caso del inspector mascarell me quedo fascinado, no lo puedo soltar, me encanta la oda a la amistad que se realiza en sus libros, los personajes, la forma en que retrata la epoca española, una vez mas fascinado, gracias jordi sierra por hilario soler y por el inspector mascarell ahora a aguardar un libro mas de esta serie
