Two "Torpedo 1936" stories in this volume - "Sing-Sing Blues" and "...All Others Pay Cash".
In "Sing-Sing Blues", Luca "Torpedo" Torelli is sentenced to a four-year stint at Sing Sing but he quickly devises a stategy for a way out. Unfortunately, that strategy puts him on the wrong side of some dangerous people on the inside. But Luca is not only prepared for the worst, he's prepared to do his worst. A diabolical tale from start to finish.
Luca gets on the wrong side of crime boss Ray Bingo in "...All Others Pay Cash" and has to systematically take down Ray's entire crew. It's another lurid story where Torpedo does some heinous shit to save himself. This one gets excessively edgy and the humor is quite corny, though still in keeping with the over-the-top black humor this series is known for.
Not sure if I’m using this right but TW: Gang Rape
I had read some other collection of Torpedo and liked it well enough, especially the art, even if the character is a truly unrepentant asshole. Like I remember him treating women like shit in general, but nothing too egregious.
But the end of this collection had multiple characters rape the moll of a gangster, which would be bad enough. But it was totally played for laughs, which is just exponentially worse.
I bought this used and it’s an edition from the 90s. I really hope they didn’t include that last story on subsequent collections. Making me second guess my memories is the other ones I read.
The art is solid. The guys are perfectly evil, the guns are rendered very realistically and the women are beautiful even though he only draws one type with insanely thin waists and mammoth breasts but they don't appeal to me in anything but their faces and legs.
The story is as violent as you'll find and Luca is no stranger to raping women so this is for those who don't let real life scruples effect what they read. IT'S DIRTY.
