it is a good building story. she is a go-getter and does everything she can to achieve her goals. he is a teacher who gets the most out of his students, but is also not the easiest to talk to. I enjoyed the story, the main characters are well described and although it is taboo they also learn from each other. from me 4 stars

Outstanding! I love this story. Book 2 in the afterglow series. This one features Mara, a 21 year old doctorate student who is fierce, smart and driven. She needs a professor to team up for a contest, and the only one left is Dr. Evans, a broody, argumentative man and twice her age. The story is developed in an interesting way. It is very steamy, includes BDSM and a forbidden romance. It was a great read!

Nate is up for tenure this year, not that he needs the money but he wants it. Mara needs him to enter a contest in the Doctoral program and soon sparks are flying. If they get caught, they both could lose everything. Fast-paced read with loads of steam and plenty of drama. Great characters and intense chemistry. I liked it.

Mara was in the doctoral program in college and had chosen Dr. Evans class since he was the only professor not signed for the Crossing Collaboration Contest. A contest she needed to win above all else. She had to prove that despite her younger age she belongs here.
Dr. Nate Evans was known as the billionaire professor and also so disagreeable no one wanted to work with him. But, Mara was determined.
When she found out he was attending a S&M dungeon event she decided shock him by showing up. She not only showed up, but volunteered for his spanking demo.
Nate decided that if she wanted to partner with him for this contest he wasn't going to make it easy for her. He gave her a massive stack of essays to grade and told her she was now his TA, which meant she had to give up one of her other doctural classes. She had to prove she was serious.
Despite him never getting involved with his students, their major age difference and her never being exposed to BDSM Nate was having a hard time resisting Mara. He couldn't lose control again. He had already ruined and almost killed another woman. He refused to do that again and his fear is that he would put Mara in danger.
I absolutely loved this book. The storyline blends well with Zaid and Heather's story and takes off from where Nate was introduced to us in His Toy. I loved Mara's determination in how far she would go to overcome her insecurities that everyone thought she was too young and didn't belong in the doctoral program.
This isn't a book of a much older man using his authority to take advantage of a woman. I love how Nate fought and fought his attraction to Mara and tried to deter and make her hate him at all opportunities.
The characters are full of depth and feelings. And the author's written descriptions have me walking the streets of Las Vegas and sitting through lectures. I highly recommend not only this book and series, but Audrey Rush.

Given the likes of Dr. Nate Evans for BDSM and Mara’s admiration for Florence Berkley, their essay is based on this.
But Nate is not easy to convince and Mara doesn’t give up easily either, she ends up in a spanking demo at the club to try to prove him how serious she is.
One thing leads to another and they end up starting an intense relationship, which goes through difficulties due to Mara’s doubts as to whether Nate really¡y takes her seriously due to her youth. And Nate also doubts he is the right man for her, since he wants for her to explore all the possibilities that someone of her age has.

This was my first time reading Audrey Rush but I have to say I will certainly be on the lookout for this author.
I read all 3 books as part of The Afterglow series. I really enjoyed all 3 books in the series but my favorite was the last one (His Pain) because I loved Hazel.
His Pet- Mara and Dr Evans were a good pair up. I loved how he valued her as an equal instead of not taking her seriously. Mara was super interested in the BDSM world and I like the way the story lead me thru her journey.
All books were super steamy and HEA. I would definitely recommend them but definitely read them in order. His Toy- His Pet- His Pain

It has the same vibe as love hypothesis but make it spicy. Consist professor n student scenario. I didn't expecting to read much content abt their literature course in this book n It excite me. Since i got to learn a lot 😆 especially is the "submissive" action portrayed someone authority or weakness. Authentic, well-rounded characters whose intrigue for one another creates a chemistry that neither one can deny. Author also include BDSM term n detail explanation that get me understand their world. Gosh this book is a germ for me. TikTok should discover this book 🙌🔥

Afterglow is boxset featuring three excellent standalone dark romances with well developed characters. The collection includes the titles of His Toy, His Pet, and His Pain. Each book has a variety of different but sometimes related characters. The different plots include stories of captivity, revenge, taboo relationships, and an enemies to lovers tale. Afterglow is well written and a fantastic book.

Older established man and a young grad student. Dr. Evans is worried about his tenure when one of his students challenges and sparks his curiosity. Mara is a spunky strong determined grad student. This story is about a dominate and submissive forbidden relationship. There is a theme of age, pain and restraints. Very good story. Enjoyed it very much. I absolutely loved this book and was honored to have been able to read and review. It was such a phenomenal read and had amazing characters as well as an amazing story line. I just could not get enough of it and once I started reading it I could not put it down. I recommend that you read it.

Mara is a head strong and determined Medical Student who needs a partner for a contest an only Dr Evans is left. Dr Evans strives for the best from all his students. As they dive into a dom/sub relationship they are putting everything on the line. well written dark, taboo, D/s romance with lots of hot and steamy scenes,

This a great storyline that has an easy flow to it. The characters of Dr. Evans (Dom) and his student Mara (sub) is his student in and out of the classroom.
