There is no record of the presence of an alien species known as ‘The Silents’ on Earth. UNIT has never engaged hostiles capable of editing themselves from observers’ memories.
There is no evidence that such an opponent, if real, is regrouping and beginning a new plan of infiltration and manipulation.
Kate Stewart and her team are in no mortal danger. How can they be, when they don’t even know the enemy exists?
Ramon Tikaram is the voice of Dorian Pavus in Dragon Age: Inquisition.
He is also the voice of Colonel Shindi of UNIT in this adventure. That’s his handsome face on the audiobook cover.
This story is the first of a four part set—it’s not really meant to stand alone—and it’s helpful if the listener is already familiar with The Silence, so one can’t really review it in a vacuum.
That said, I’m giving it 5 stars because IT’S RAMON TIKARAM MY DUDES HOW CAN YOU NOT GIVE THIS MAN 5 STARS HE COULD READ THE BETTY CROCKER COOK BOOK AND I’D SWOON THIS MAN THIS MAN AND HIS VOICE I CAN’T EVEN.
Another lockdownload treat from Big Finish, UNIT: House of Silents is the first instalment of a four-part adventure featuring one of the Doctor’s most unsettling enemies. It certainly wasn’t a standalone adventure — you needed to be familiar with both the Silence and Kate Lethbridge-Stewart’s UNIT to enjoy it properly — but it was a great adventure and a brilliant start to the UNIT: Silenced miniseries.
One of the most frightening aliens developed on Doctor Who is The Silence. How can you fight, when you can’t even remember the enemy? How do you plan, when you don’t remember that they even exist? If you aren’t looking at them, you don’t remember them. And now they’re here menacing UNIT. And no on is immune to their … wait … what was I talking about? Hmm, oh well, I’ve got some time. Maybe I’ll go listen to a Big Finish audio-drama. Haven’t done one of those in awhile.
