If you think coding is only for geniuses, then you haven’t tried this yet. Are you looking to expand your skill set to increase your value in the job market?

If you have a knack for problem solving, coding can be a rewarding and fun skill to learn.

Coding is one of the most in-demand skills that employers are looking for, and they are willing to pay for it. Monster.com, a popular job search site, reports that jobs requiring coding skills pay an average of $22,000 more per year, compared to other non-coding jobs.

As the world becomes more and more dependent on computers and the web, coding will only become more valued in the years to come.

C# is one of the easiest programming languages to learn, which is why it is highly recommended as a starting point for beginners.

What’s more, C# offers the following advantages, making it a popular choice for beginners and experts

Gives a great foundation to learn other similar programming languages Widely used in game development, specifically with Unity, the most popular game engine Can do machine learning Can be used to write different types of software, such as websites, mobile apps, Windows apps, AI, and cloud applications Has strong community support with more than 5 million developers using the language Developed and supported by Microsoft As a beginner, it is best to start with the fundamentals.

Learn C# Quickly will guide you through the core principles of programming with the C# language. More specifically, in this book, you will

The 6 primary programming terms you should know by heart before you do any coding The crucial step you need to take that will save you time in rework and corrections When to use asynchronous programming techniques and how they can improve your software How to check if your code is up to par by applying these important principles Practical cases that help you envision the real-world applications of C# programming and get you imagining just what you can do with the language Detailed, visual examples that you can easily follow step-by-step to better internalize the concepts you’ve studied A final project for you to do from start to finish to synthesize and apply all the lessons you have learned And much more.

Learning to code might seem intimidating, especially if you have zero background on computers and programming.

Code may initially look like a foreign language to you, but like any foreign language, it can be learned and eventually mastered. It just takes dedication, consistency, and lots of practice.

Coding can even be a profitable side hustle you can do in your spare time. You can start with little side projects at first to develop your skill, or you can offer your services to a friend or a small business.

As you get better, you can look into finding a job in coding to get you a significant pay raise. You can even make your own app that you can sell or build a business around.

Who knows, you may just be on your way to becoming the next tech billionaire.

This is the second of three books by Code Quickly aimed at getting new programmers up and running. The author tries to cover the whole arena of coding with regards to C#. The definitions are clear. The various elements are explained with added examples which help the uninitiated understand the process. Finally, along the way the author is developing a program – in this case for a car dealership. The various elements are drawn together at the end as the author demonstrates how C# works. It is a very intuitive process which the author handles well.

The subtitle “Even If You’re New to Programming” may be a stretch. Although my coding experience is from the dark ages (some forty years ago) I could follow along. I needed someone to walk along side me to help explain some of the nuances and especially the jargon. Coders have their own language (it may look like English, but…). Therefore, in addition to reading and implementing the examples in the book it would be helpful to have to help. The author alludes to this and suggest that the reader get further guidance on the internet or with someone who is a coder.

One other element which bothered me was the screen shots. Now I’m old (remember my introduction to coding took place a long time ago) but it was often difficult to read the small white lettering against the black background. I presume that on an e-version the reader would have been able to enlarge the screen making it a little easier to read. One example, on page 80, was black on off-white and I wish that all had been that easy to read.

Overall, the book covered all the basic dimensions of this coding language and gives the reader a running start in this new and creative computer language.

Upon request the publisher sent me a copy of the book to review.

‘One of the most popular and modern programming languages in the world’

‘Code Quickly’ is a new author on the front lines of IT and the initial books by that author shows tremendous promise! Book 1 of the Crash Course With Hands On Project was PYTHON and like that book LEARN C# QUICKLY is designed for beginners, so for starters, here are some definitions for the uninitiated: IT – Information Technology, C# – according to Wikipedia, ‘C# is a general-purpose, multi-paradigm programming language encompassing strong typing, lexically scoped, imperative, declarative, functional, generic, object-oriented, and component-oriented programming disciplines. C# is one of the programming languages designed for the Common Language Infrastructure (CLI).’

C# is intended to be a simple, modern, general-purpose, object oriented programming language. If all this sounds ‘foreign’ at first reading, then this book is definitely one that should be added to the library as a beginning programmer. The author clarifies the aspects of the language – data types, integer, string, Boolean, var, etc – and defines them in a manner that makes the C# accessible. The supportive manner in which the information is offered is seen in passages such as this: ‘Programming is not always straight-forward. So sometimes, it is all about decisions and conditions. At some point, based on the condition or conditions, the flow of the program could be done in two separate ways. What this means is that I certain conditions are fulfilled, it is required to execute the A block of the code, else the B block of the code will be executed. This is called branching…’ ‘C# programming language can be used in almost any kind of software development such as Console Applications, Mobile Applications, Web Services, Windows Applications, Blockchain development, Cloud Applications, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, etc.’

Yes, at first the information is challenging, but with the patient hands-on process with which the author presents the material, learning the use of C# programming becomes accessible. Spend time with this book and learning C# becomes manageable and usable! A very fine solid contribution to contemporary communication.
