Lost Sheep and Blue Shutters: The perils and pleasures of life in rural France

Rate this book
In January 2007, I set off with my two cats and a few belongings to start a new life in rural Brittany. This book tells the story of how, on arrival, I found not only my “house with blue shutters” but so much more. The story takes place against a backdrop of some of the most beautiful countryside in France. It tells of some of the things I learned, both through my own (sometimes hilarious) mistakes and also thanks to the generosity and patience of my lovely French neighbours and friends.I will always remember them with the deepest affection and hope that they, too, will have some fond memories of "la petite Anglaise" with the cats and the funny accent, to whom they showed such unfailing kindness.

Mmmm...

What a strange little book. It never seems quite to get going before it is finished There's ultimately nothing terribly wrong with it and I, like the author, can confirm that most French people are kind and charming. However, it is rather a bland read and leaves one feeling a mite dissatisfied.

She moved to France. Then moved back. The end
The author can write well but this is nothing like other books about living in France
