Ok so full disclosure- Doc is a good friend of mine and he wrote this book. He called me to discuss some of the legal points and I begged for a copy. He was gracious enough to hand deliver a copy to me, so my opinions should be biased but - I’m going true to my style and give you the honest, down and dirty truth. I had an advanced copy and it does need a heavy dose of editing. In its current form it’s a 3.5 star book. With the right edits this has all the makings of a bestselling 5 star book that is relevant, educational and entertaining. Editing issues aside, the points made on the status of America are insightful, well researched and delivered with a fresh voice unlike anything I’ve read before. It held my attention during a time when not much besides whimsical romances and beach reads can. The world seems to be unraveling and Trump is the band leader. This book points all of this out with pop cultural references and a humorous undertone that lightens the extremely real and heavy topics it tackles. Doc examines the political climate in America from the time of Lincoln to the COVID 19 pandemic. Unlike many blustering talking heads he offers actual, well considered alternatives that are not only brilliant but very implementable in the real world. From tax reform to racism his views are honest and not overly left or right. He breaks down the Republican and Democratic parties and exploits the incestuous relationship between Big Business and the government. I learned so much from reading this and would recommend it to anyone willing to read a book with 348 “F” words. (I think the vulgarity could be lessened to pack a bigger punch during the editing process). If you’re looking for something to give us as Americans Hope in a time of darkness and a laugh out loud delivery, get yourself a copy of this book!
