Some good ideas here about writing your own material and not using tired old stock lines that everyone uses. The author is a professional magician in the San Francisco area and American humour is very different from British humour. Nonetheless he makes you think about your material and what you are saying.

Required reading for magicians

I wish all magicians had read this book, from cover to cover, as it explains not only the issue of using stock lines, but also the solution to remove them from your act.
