This was a real interesting story. I enjoyed watching LeBo learn to find happiness even though life was sooo difficult. I read a pre-published copy and it still needed some editing work but great first book for this author.

The book explores the beautiful journey of Theo and Lebo that resonates on all levels. Despite not being in Africa, the book allows me to see and learn much about life in Botswana, as well as the many challenges that one can face. The book discovered pain and love, both raw and pure, and I would recommend it to everyone.
Things to know: This book contains violence as well as adult language and situations.
Lebo was young when life taught her hard lessons. What life has in store for her future, she doesn't know, despite everything she's been through, she does her best. Will it be enough?
The author did a wonderful job, in my humble opinion, of bringing this fictional character to life. Lebo became a real person to me.
Side note: I read a pre-published version of this book.
I don't often write reviews. This book deserves one. It is the compelling story of a young woman persevering through a very difficult childhood spent in poverty and abandonment. The story is told in a stream of consciousness writing style that the author handles very well.
She has captured what William Faulkner advised writers to strive for, "the old verities and truths of the heart, the old universal truths lacking which any story is ephemeral and doomed – love and honor and pity and pride and compassion and sacrifice."
Why did I rate this with five stars? I have a rating system which I blogged about in my profile. Three stars if I enjoyed the read. I am not sure if a book that tears at the heart can be really enjoyed, but this was so engaging. Four stars if a book is particularly well-written. This was, although it needs editing. It is rough. Five stars if the characters are well-developed and memorable. I will remember Lebo and her friend Theo for a long time.
My advice - read this one. Ignore the editing issues. Years from now, you will be able to tell people you discovered Tshegetsang Tebelelo when she was just beginning.
Amazing story and I swiped pages faster than my fingers could...wanted the story to keep going! Personally I could relate to this and I found the ending as I said...wishing I had more!!!...maybe another book with the characters more detailed and involved with Leno as life continues...great read...and a story my teen grandkids could enjoy as well...Will hope for sequel..
At first Lebo was hard for me to read because it was in s world I didn't understand. As I began to understand the world I just wanted to pick Lebo up and take her from it. In spite of all the obstacles in her way she kept her faith and a positive attitude. I think in spite of everything she was happy.
