Essentials of Neurology

Rate this book
The 6th edition of this book has been deliberately aimed at postgraduate students in medicine and neurology studying for higher diplomas, such as MRCP (UK). It includes advice on treatment and management of individual neurological disorders, as well as improvements in diagnostic techniques. These techniques, especially in neuroimaging have required extensive revisions in the text, the addition of much new material and of many new illustrations of CT scanning and MR imaging. Advances in neurochemistry, neuropharmacology, neuroimmunology, neurophysiology and other aspects of fundamental neuroscience, have been included, though the emphasis of the book continues to be predominantly clinical. Brief mention is made of the investigative methods, their failings and dangers and the information which they are likely to divulge. Descriptions of specific syndromes of nervous disease are given. It has been written in theory for postgraduate students learning the principles of neurological diagnosis and treatment, and the practising physician in his management of patients suffering from this variety of illness.
