On February 14, 1835, the first members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were named. In the General Conference of April 2018, the 101st and 102nd members of that quorum were called. This complete presentation traces the call and the release of every member of the Quorum of the Twelve. With every change, it gives a graphic representation of what the Quorum of the Twelve and First Presidency in their Apostolic order. It looks at the changes and development of this governing body of the Church from the Church's humble beginnings to the present day. It looks at the challenges these quorums faced as they learned "line upon line" concerning the order of succession to the presidency.

I heard Kevin L Tolley speak on this topic at BYU Education Week 2016. It was fascinating. Since then, I have been looking for this book to be published. Now, four years later it is at last available! Hurrah! The Acknowledgments says "Over the years, portions of this work appeared in Church firesides, BYU Education Week, and scholastic papers." and "We also never thought that this work would last eighteen years,"

There is an app for Apple handheld devices called "Latter-day Apostles." It gives a delightful graphic display of the apostles and quorum of the 12 over time. This app looks to be handy as a reference while reading the book.

This is an excellent collection of mini biographies of each of the Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from Joseph Smith, Jun. to Russell M. Nelson. The volume is poorly edited, making understanding a bit difficult in some situations. A Fine edition to understanding the process of determining seniority both within the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and Succession in the Presidency of the church.
