Very Cute Story with A Great Message

I loved this cute story about developing boundaries, not being a bully, a victim or a fixer. Told in a way most kids would understand. I won this book on Goodreads. Thanks so much!

Llamas fans will love the different personalities and llama drama packed into these pages...and even find a bit of wisdom along the way.

Andi has been helping feed and take care of the llamas for many years and is a little sick and tired of cleaning up after them and all of the other worked involved. When she decides to have some fun and play with them, she discovers three llamas off to the side. But they aren't having fun; they're arguing. Soon, she's introduced to the 'drama llamas', a certain sort of llamas, which engage in drama all over the world. Although she wants to help them bring an end to their drama, she might find herself stuck up in their never ending triangle herself.

I'm usually skeptical about self-help books or ones which are on a mission to teach a lesson. This book, however, manages to balance the realm of fun and messages splendidly. Readers/listeners will like Andi from the first page and completely understand her frustration. Taking care of animals isn't always fun. As she ventures across the drama llamas, the humor rolls in and is sure to have listeners nodding but also smiling and giggling, too. These llamas pack tons of personality, quirks and are definitely anything but boring.

The illustrations are very well done. Each llama's personality radiates from the page and even displays extra visual traits to make things fun. The emotions are portrayed clear on the expressions. Also, the illustrations clearly show the triangle between the three llamas (it never disappears), and this subtly reinforces the main message.

As to the main message...it's more than clear. The idea of how to avoid drama is very distinctly and bluntly restated at the end of the story. On the last page, there is also a list of several things a person can do to avoid the 'drama llama triangle'. So, it doesn't end only in this lane, though, the author also throws in a list of llama facts.

In other words, this is a lovely book for llama fans and a wonderful way to bring across the message about avoiding drama and how, maybe, to even assist others when they find themselves caught in the triangle.

Andi works with her aunt on a llama farm. She is tired of doing chores and cleaning up after them. She sees three llamas who seem to be doing their own thing away from the others and decides that she wants to play with them. Lulu the Llama warns her that these are drama llamas and Andi should steer clear of them.

What Andi discovers is the three llamas are trapped in the triangle of drama. There is Bully Bart, Victim Viv, and Fixer Fred. Andi finds that each of these llamas are so locked into the choices they have made that none of them want to change enough to stop. With Lulu's help, Andi realizes that she doesn't have to get caught up in their drama. She can make her own choices to change the way she thinks and behaves.

As social stories go this has a lot to offer. Often children find themselves locked into one of these stereotypical roles and they don't feel empowered enough to help themselves. This interactive story offers good advice for getting out of drama situations. Also, it gives insight into how everyone can show drama traits at some point and being responsible for one's own choices can help them avoid the drama trap.

This story will be useful at home or in class. It is geared towards children ages 6-9, however, there is much that both younger and older children can glean from it. The book includes useful discussion questions as well as fun facts about llamas. The illustrations are fun and colorful. Each llama is a distinct character and is visually exciting. Kids will also enjoy looking for the bee hidden on pages throughout the book.

I want to thank Kim Linette, author and Goodreads First Reads Giveaway for the eBook Kindle copy of Lulu Llama and the Triangle of Drama that I won in the Giveaway.

In this story, Andi helps on a llama farm and finds her chores hard work, so when she finishes she is looking for fun. Lulu Llama directs her to the Dram Llama and she finds a bully, a victim and a fixer and all are unhappy but they keep doing the same thing over and over.

With the help of Lulu Llama, Andi figures out that everyone is responsible for their own happiness and it is up to each individual to find happiness. This children's book is appropriate for upper grade elementary students not beginning readers and has good points for more mature children. The illustrations are cute.

This is a good book that teaches wonderful lessons, especially if you read between the lines. Andi continually tells Lulu llama to stay away from the drama llamas. But of course, he doesn’t listen and gets sucked into the triangle of drama. The problem is how do you get out of the middle of the drama once you’ve involved in it? This is were a friend like Andi comes in handy. The illustrations in this book are great, the message the book talks about is wonderful and the story is written in a way that a child will love. I will definitely be reading to my niece and nephew.

This was a cute story, with meaning behind it. I read it out loud to my younger kids, while I think they are too young to understand the meaning behind it, they really enjoyed the colorful pictures and the llamas.

Be drama free

This was a great little book. Drama is un-fun. This is a great tool for children and adults to visualize the trap that drama creates. I loved searching for the bee. I found him on every page.
