I checked this book out of the library because I was curious what a romance with a HANGING on the cover would be like. The answer is, not that good. I've not finished it, but it's just not compelling. Since the heroine gets hanged in the prologue and I don't know yet whether the hero saves her before she dies (I assume so), you'd think I had a reason to keep going--but no. Just not compelling.
I held off on this one for a couple of years. The first chapter, which is at the end of the story timeline, was a bit off-putting for me. Who wants to read about a hanging--of an innocent person? After I finally dove in, I found that I really enjoyed it. Smart, strong women (in a Western, no less!), good writing, and an entertaining story.
