Triclosan Reactivity in Chlorinated and Monochloraminated Waters

This research report advances our understanding of how triclosan reacts with both free chlorine and monochloramine in water treatment and of the types of disinfection by-products, such as chloroform, that are produced. This important research is one of the earliest studies investigating the reactions of water treatment disinfectants with source waters that are contaminated with pharmaceutical and personal care products (PCPPs).
