I read this book after reading Fluent on the first try by the same author. It’s a detailed guide that provides very useful strategies for learning every aspect of a language. I found great tips for improving my pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar and speaking skills, and I found the section on translation and idioms very helpful. What makes this book stand out is the fact that it provides very specific exercises that you can use for conversation. It’s not some generic advice. Once again, I have recommended this book to all my friends and I want to recommend it to anyone who wants to learn a foreign language. Start with Fluent on the first try and continue with Why you’re not fluent. You won’t be disappointed!
