BLACK EDGE Series (5 books!)
Mr. Black bought me at a secret auction on his yacht. I’ve never done anything like this before. What happens when one night isn’t enough?
Quick summary before the long one. Short. Reads more like a prequel. No realistic angst, no passion. More like YA I guess, only less mature. Just a total lack of maturity at all really . Heroine randomly sleeps with another guy though, seems to be plot device for the future...
Ok. I did it. I took one for the team. I have been toying with this one for a little while waiting for reviews but I have in and bought it thinking why not, I guess it’s my turn. I don’t know how else to say it except to say it was her “meh” and overall doesn’t really have a plot. Their is the unlikely backstory of their being suite-mates in college, but even that isn’t really dramatic. They don’t really seem Passionate at all. I just couldn’t sense the chemistry. A couple of things happen that I don’t love, but weirdly enough there isn’t still isn’t enough angst. Just enough stupid decisions to solidify for me that their characters just aren’t written well 🤷🏻♀️ I thought I’d start this and love the heroine/ hate the hero. But in reality, I’m not a fan of her (she’s immature, impulsive, and of course one of those random heroines that hot guys seem to fall magically in love with without us ever being able to understand why, and still doesn’t really have a personality) and I am meh on him. I just don’t know we about about him, except he does keep saying how much he loves her, She doesn’t act like an adult, and actually confront any situations. She runs from everything. He obviously sends some mixed signals here and there. There is a scene a good bit into the book where he is drunk when tells her how much he still loves her. He even points out a previous conversation about how they both believe that drunks don’t lie they just reveal their true feeling etc and he needs her to remember it. It wasn’t placed there by accident, but doesn’t solve anything either. She pretends it didn’t happen. We also don’t know why he broke up with her. I wanted to vilify him for that at first but since there doesn’t seem to be much drama about it,I’m not going to wast energy caring. We never get the answer. He really doesn’t seem to be too bad of a guy. He doesn’t start sleeping around and running to bars and parties constantly, living it up or anything. He does start hanging out with a girl, but she really sweet and the awkward type. She was really self conscious because she is plus sized. My impression was that he seems to like her more as a friend. It’s specifically stated that they don’t do anything sexual. He says over and over again that they are just “hanging out”. Then heroine still gets upset and starts to see someone else and he gets a little jealous. She starts moving super quickly with the guy. One night hero “accidentally” walks into her room to look for something while she and the new guy are making out looking like it’s heading for more. She gets mad that he interrupted. Other guy takes off. She ends up thanking the EX because it was moving to quickly and she would have regretted sleeping with new guy. So what happens a next? She stops seeing the other guy. A couple of weeks go by she looses a bet to the ex and agrees to accompany him to a formal for his frat. She overheard two of the frat guys gossiping about him not bringing the other girl he was hanging out with because she is plus sized. Nothing has really been mentioned about that girl in forever so it’s beyond me why the next things happen. She’s known her ex her whole life yet right then decides that he was being douchey. She doesn’t wait for him to come back. She completely leaves the place without even letting him know she’s safe. She runs into the guys she dated briefly. Goes back to his room and has sex with him. All without at least talking to the hero. So they stop speaking and she continues to now date and screw the other guy for a month ish. So if you are keeping track her getting her heart broken and then her running ex again, then seeing him hanging out with someone else and she doesn’t act stupid. She thinks he might be acting a little douchey to the new girl he’s hanging out with (seriously her feelings are hurt FOR the girl who he hasn’t even been with) and she runs off without talking and screws another guy. Then keeps dating him? She admits she doesn’t want to be with new guy and just like before just behaves with the maturity of a middle schooler. Eventually hero stops hanging complete officially with the other girl. He tells heroine the new guy has a drug problem and tries to get her to not go away with new guy for the weekend (since he hasn’t been able to sleep with anyone my guys is he still thinks she hasn’t either). A few other minor things happen but that’s the important things needing mentioned for me to get to the next part. This book was basically just a wast of time. Just people making dumb decisions, no passion or chemistry. Even when she did that it wasn’t like there “throw my kindle” anger or even “go girl” support. More like “well that was stupid an pointless. I bet I finally might know where it could be going...
My thought is that this is a really expensive prequel. From what I read and the blurb for the next book my opinion is that it will turn out he had a good reason for ending things and will say (again) that’s he’s always loved her. She will turn up pregnant but the drug addict and that will be the real premise of their story. If that’s true, that will bug me some because that should be the true “trope” or description. Not the oops “I accidentally had to room with my ex” storyline. Misleading readers is defiantly something that gets me fired up. Some of us specifically avoid-certain tropes for a reason. And that should be ok when sprinting 5$ on one half of a story If I’m wrong, I promise to come back and delete this whole Paragraph. I definitely wouldn’t mislead readers. Overall this whole thing was so boring it wasn’t even enough to get me really angry over anything of the events. It’s just not a good story. I wouldn’t have wasted any time on it, but I like to help other readers sometimes. Being that it’s NOT on KU, is $5, and no one had posted a detailed review I felt like I should a least summarize it up for the other neurotics like me. I’ll probably forget about this before the week is out, let alone before the sequel is. Oh and the premise for the next book isn’t accurate at all unless it’s referring to something else. It wasn’t dramatic or full of regrets. She wasn’t drunk. She just did it and it wasn’t even an “oh well” situation, it was a cardboard response. It didn’t fit the story being that it was the first guys she slept with since the hero. Very blasé for someone with little experience. Just bit well written at all.
Alice and Hudson conclusion was good. Some lingering questions I had got answered in the second part of this duet and I really did enjoy the story and some of the funny banter between these roommates.
College life not an easy time but the group of roommates is truly a roller coaster ride of life.
This book is mainly the relationship between Hudson and Alice. They are off then on again. The typical eighteen year olds. They date other people but Hudson keeps realizing that he loves Alice. He wants her back. But it's not easy for them. They both have their classes and Hudson even gets an internship that'll help him when he graduates with his degree. That takes time away from his spending time with Alice. This brings bad feelings towards him from Alice. It's the typical you do this to me then I'll do something back. It even gets to the point where they go to Atlantic City with Tea and the new guy she is dating. Hudson doesn't make that trip. It turns into a lot of drinking and Alice and Dylan end up doing something that messes up what is going on between Hudson and Alice. So many things happen that Alice has to speak with a therapist because of being caught having had under the influence of alcohol by her instructor. She has no choice in it. If she doesn't attend, then she faces being expelled. This ends up being good for her in the long run. Alice is somewhat growing up by talking to the therapist. Which is a good thing. She starts seeing that the way things are with Hudson just won't work but they can be friends. But Hudson is still ping ponging back and forth that he goes back and tells Alice that he loves her and wants to make things work. Alice has made a grown up decision that she is going to move back to California and attend University of Southern California which makes her parents happy. She also realizes that she will be far away from Hudson so life will be different. At the end of the semester Hudson and Alice make some decisions that actually see that they are growing up. You actually hope for the best at the end of this book. Really enjoyed reading duet books of this story. Charlotte Byrd did a really good job in telling this story that kept the reader interested. Definitely recommend the two books. You'll love the story and the characters.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Definitely a great read! This is a beautiful, sweet, hot and emotional story that is deliciously addicting, and a page-turner for anyone who loves a good college romance story. I enjoyed the characters and found them to be authentic, likable, and multidimensional. This book is flawlessly and poignantly written about Hudson Hilton and Alice Summer’s bittersweet love story. Their story touched me in so many deep-seated ways, and I feel like I just got off a crazy wild roller coaster ride!! It was amazing and my blood was pumping like crazy reading this story. I felt everything Hudson and Alice were going through down in my soul. I was captivated from start to finish! Hudson and Alice were best friends who starting dating in high school, and broke up before starting college—then ended up at the same college in NYC as roommates. They are in an on/off relationship. That is, until an unexpected revelation that happened that will leave you flabbergasted! They will fascinate you and frustrate you at the same time. Lines will be crossed. Will their friendship and/or relationship be jeopardized if they cross the line? I can’t see anyone not absolutely LOVING their story—friends to lovers, heartfelt feels, best sexual tension ever, and a dose of unrequited pining where we get to be Alice, and go through all of her emotions with her as she struggles with their friend/love relationship with Hudson. The storyline is fluid, and the characters are extremely well developed. Charlotte Byrd has constructed a delectably beautiful college romance that will lure you into the wee hours and beyond that you will not be able to put this book down. You won’t regret reading Still Not Into You!
3.75 stars-STILL NOT INTO YOU is the second instalment in Charlotte Byrd’s contemporary, new adult story line focusing on eighteen year old, college freshmen Alice Summers, and Hudson Hilton. STILL NOT INTO YOU should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events of book one NOT INTO YOU.
Note: STILL NOT INTO YOU was previously published as One Weekend but the text has been substantially expanded and revised.
Told from first person perspective (Alice Summers) STILL NOT INTO YOU continues to follow the on again-off again struggling relationship between eighteen year old, college freshmen Alice Summers, and Hudson Hilton. Californians Alice and Hudson were best friends turned lovers but one year before heading to college Hudson’s family moved and in the ensuing time Hudson broke it off with our story line heroine. Fast forward to present day wherein Hudson and Alice are roomates at New York’s Columbia university, bringing their drama along for the ride. A drunken weekend finds Alice having to confront what happened and why pushing Hudson to take vengeance to hurt the woman he has always loved.
STILL NOT INTO YOU is an emotional story of heart break and pain, misunderstanding and miscommunication, retribution and realization. As eighteen year old university students the maturity is lacking, trust is fragile, and life experiences may be too much to handle.
Charlotte Byrd pulls the reader into a friends to lovers to enemies back to lovers, then enemies and lovers again whose romantic ups and down, and mistakes are fodder for roommates, co-workers, family and friends.
I liked Alice more than Hudson in the first book. I thought Hudson would finally prove himself in this book. That’s not the case. He takes his academics seriously and Alice is left to fend for herself because he’s too busy for her without really trying to make time for her. So Alice goes and does something completely reckless and stupid, which is rather over the top for this story, and simply weaved in to create conflict for the storyline. And it definitely delivers in that regard. No surprise that there’s a fallout, which Hudson handles like the kid who got his toy stolen despite having not been supportive in the first place. He was starting to show some decent boyfriend qualities but the bitterness on his behalf took him back to being a grade A jerk. I was completely unimpressed with the mess Alice got herself into and how her friends were not helpful in preventing it. But Alice did show some growth and maturity in the aftermath so at this point, I don’t know that Hudson really deserved her by the end when he comes to his senses. And it’s unclear if his plan was temporary or permanent so I’m scratching my head over him. Hudson never really delivered as a worthwhile hero except to reap easy rewards, but I’ll give Alice props for making the concerted effort to better herself.
Still Not Into You by Charlotte Byrd is the continuing story about Hudson and Alice's on again off again relationship while in college. Once again mistakes are made, jealousy and insecurities become a factor as decisions will be made for a better future through growth and self discovery. But most of all it is the transition that Alice will go through and the discovery she makes, one that will change her life forever. Hudson once again says he is sorry and wants Alice in his life after all he has put her through and wants another chance with her. But it looks like Alice with the help from her counselor has made a breakthrough as she is not this needy young woman and for once is able to make the right choices in her life. Now she needs Hudson to see they are better off as friends and that she will always love him but she needs to make changes in her life and decides to go back home. Will Hudson give up that easily and what will Alice do when she learns the decision he has made? This was a short paced story about college life, heartbreak, forgiveness and love. I highly recommend this story but suggest you read book 1 to understand the relationship between Hudson and Alice.
I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review. This book is the concluding part of the duet, and it has all of the angst of college student's. Alice and Hudson are on and then they're off and he's with someone else, and Alice has made a HUGE mistake with Dylan 🤦♀️🤦♀️ that causes a rift to occur between the room mate's. She has issue's with one of her courses, it involves speaking in front of people, so before the class she has a couple of beers to give her the confidence to speak, the professor is not impressed with this and sends her to see a counsellor otherwise she'll be kicked out of college. She finds herself feeling lost and unhappy, so makes some big decisions about her future. This book is really well written and emotionally charged, with a lot of emotions, I'd definitely recommend these book's because I read them both in one sitting 😍😍😍💗💗💗
This is the second book in the series and continues the story of Alice and Hudson. The twists and turns continue along with pain, heartache, regrets and a second chance at forever. Alice and Hudson still love each other but there are so many problems in there way. Will they ever be able to put there differences aside and see what is right in front of them. This was a great ending to this series and i really loved reading it. Charlotte Byrd is an amazing author and writer and is one of my favourite authors as all her books are amazing and real page turners. I definitely recommend that you read this book but remember too read book one first as it is not a standalone book. I Voluntarily Reviewed an Arc Copy of this book.
4.75 stars This is the second book in the Not Into You series and it is not a standalone. Readers prepare yourselves for this whirlwind roller coaster ride. Alice and Hunter are back for their second semester and they have decided to get back together. Unfortunately, due to classes and Hunter’s internship, it does not leave a lot of time for the couple to be together and it puts them in a quagmire of uncertainty. This is one storyline filled with drama and a lot of ups and downs that keep you enthralled from start to finish. This is one book I did not want to end and hope that the author decides to write bonus epilogues or another book to show where these two go in the future. I volunteered to read a copy of this book and all opinions are my own.
Still Not Into You by Charlotte Byrd This book is so well written that I felt like I was right there with all the roommates. I love this story and it pulls you into the story from the very first book and it does not let you go till the very end. It is a page-turner because you can not put it down, you just want to know what is going to happen next. This story made me laugh, feel sad, cry my eyes out, and happy at different times. I fell in love with the roommates but Alice is my favorite. She grows so much in this story, it is wonderful. I highly recommend these two books Not Into You and Still Not Into You, both by Charlotte Byrd. I received an advanced reader copy from bookfunnel and have voluntarily chosen to leave a review. This is my honest opinion.
well this is the second book please be sure to read the first Not in to you. Alice and Hudson are still having problems. It is obvious that they love each other dearly but its just never smooth sailing. So many issues. This is a good read. not my favourite . And I dont know why. I am a massive fan of Charlotte Byrd and as soon as a new book is coming out I get it without looking to see what the book is about because I know I will get dragged into a story that will be amazing but this one just didnt gel for me. I didnt really like Alice so I think that was my main problem. But it is still a good book to read. I received an ARC copy and now I'm choosing to leave my honest review.
This is the second part of the duet of Hudson and Alice's story. If you haven't read Not into You, read that first so you know what is going on in this book. The story is a roller coaster of emotions and lots is happening in the 2nd semester of college. The story is relatable to anyone who has made mistakes in their life. Good primary characters and lots of heartache and pain along with drama. A good dark young adult read.
I voluntarily wrote this review from reading an advanced copy of this book.
Unfortunately I have to say this was not one of my favourites, I am still giving 4 stars because I didn’t dislike the book, I did actually enjoy it, but there was just something missing for me, I think it maybe because normally I absolutely love anything from Charlotte, but we can’t love them all 😁 still one of my favourite authors though 😉
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Still Not Into You continues where the previous book finished, with Alice and Hudson continuing their roller coaster relationship. Still Not Into You focuses on their second semester of Columbia university. Issues and complications arise pulling the couple apart. A drunken trip, jealousy and therapy are just a few obstacles that block their path. Charlotte Byrd is able to capture the ins and outs of student life and the angst of young love. Another amazing series

I’m loving this duet. This author really knows how to grab you and pull you in and this story is no different. Hudson and Alice love each other to the deepest depths, but Alice k its they should never be together. Twists and turns, mistakes made and all the hurt, how can these two ever be together? Hudson will do anything for the live of his life, but can they get past everything? Such a good read and I received a copy of this book.
This is the second book in this duet and I do recommend reading them in orders. Alice and Hunter’s story continues, Alice makes a huge mistake but will Hunter be able to forgive her and will they be able to move past it. Has this couple finally run out of chances? Fast-paced read with intense chemistry, loads of drama, suspense and steam. The characters have lots of depth and emotion and the story draws you in. I really liked it.
This is the second part of the duet. It picks up right where book one ends. This is a great love story. Where you will find out if love conquers all or ends in despair! I really enjoyed the characters and their journey through college and life. Highly recommend. No spoilers! Pick this up and see how you like it and what the out come is for Hudson Hilton and Alice Summer’s bittersweet love story. I am voluntarily leaving my review after reading an advance reader copy from the author.
UGH!! Im sorry but Im so glad this series is over I was so bored with story. Disappointed because I actually love Charlotte Byrds work. To “ me “ I was bored and so glad when this was over... Not only was it boring, it was just ... UGH!!!! So im-mature So in-decisive so-wishy washy Reminded me of high school kids I was glad to get thru this I found myself “skimming” over the the words to get to the end. Sorry just my opinion!!
It’s so obvious that Hudson and Alice love each other but neither of them seem to be able to make it work. When Alice does something one night whilst drunk it tears them apart, it was a huge mistake and one she is trying to put right, but things are never simple. It’s coming to the end of the semester and Alice makes a big decision about her future, but first she has to make a speech and she asks Hudson to be there for it. Alice knows that she can’t get involved with Hudson again, she can’t go through the heartbreak a third time, but can he find a way to win her back after everything or will they always just be friends.
A sweet college romance, with mistakes, heartbreak and love thrown in.
This is the second half of Alice and Hudson's story. You must read book one, Not into you first. The stunning roller coaster ride of intensity and emotion. The story is very engaging and I felt extremely relatable because we all make mistakes. Drama, angst, tension, heartache, pain and regrets, make a rocky path that these two must travel together. This is my independent, impartial review.
This duet is fantastic I couldn't quite make up my mind if I wanted to cry, laugh or be angry throughout Hudson and Alice's story so I did all three. While reading this 2nd book I was shocked @ some of the things that are revealed I'm talking STUNNED speechless. Charlotte sure knows how to pack a punch in her stories and I've been fascinated with each and every one of them.
Still Not Into You is the final book in the enemies-to-lovers duet by Charlotte Byrd. This book continues Alice and Hudson's emotional on again-off again relationship. There is betrayal, drama, jealousy, heartbreak, twists and turns, regrets, obstacles, forgiveness, and love.
I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.
Betrayal, drama, jealousy, pain, anger are just a few of the emotions felt by Alice and Hudson in their story. Their path doesn’t run smooth. This is the second book in the Not Into You series and a great conclusion. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and gave my honest opinion.
This duet is a roller coaster ride of emotions. There were times when I just wanted to slap some sense into Hudson and Alice. Him, for jerking her around, and her, because she kept forgiving him. I guess their actions are understandable since they are immature young adults. This is not my favorite genre. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving this review
Charlotte did not disappoint with the conclusion of this love story. You still have the roller coaster of emotions as the first book; however, you also see the growth in one year of these characters. Hudson and Alice must go through many emotions to find their way. You must read the conclusion to find out if these two find their way back to each other.
WOW what a conclusion I'm speechless as we follow Alice and Hudson in this duet it is addicting as there are twists and turns I didn't see coming along with heartbreak, insecurities. I loved the characters Alice was very strong and I loved her for it. The writing just flows and it becomes your addiction to the last page.
Oh my! The drama and roller coaster ride get even more intense with the second half of Alice and Hudson’s story. There are jaw dropping, oh my goodness moments that will rock your boat for sure. The story definitely kept me glued to every page and I couldn’t get through this quick enough.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This was somehow worse than the first book in the duet. It was cheesy, overdone annoyance. Alice complains about everything;Hudson is a jerk. I kept wanting them to grow up and handle their relationship maturely or just break up. I stopped reading when she married Dylan, partly because it would make Hudson jealous. I don't even want to know how this train wreck ends.
