She’s a reclusive author with a tv movie about to release. He’s hated by nearly every baseball fan in Pond Creek County. Can a reality show help them both?
Madi Beach prefers to stay at home whenever possible.
Wyatt Carson just had the worst seven games of his life - and helped his team lose the whole enchilada.
Separately approached by their publicists to do a dating show, they agree because it seems like the right thing to do.
Secrets - on all sides - threaten to destroy their fledgling relationship before it has a chance to get off the ground.
Madi thinks it might be too much to overcome. Can Wyatt convince her that even though Small Town Girls Don’t (usually) Marry Baseball Stars, their relationship can be the exception?
When she's not writing about her imaginary friends, Carol Moncado is hanging out with her husband, four kids, and a dog who weighs less than most hard cover books. She prefers watching NCIS to just about anything, except maybe watching Castle. She believes peanut butter M&Ms are the perfect food and Dr. Pepper should come in an IV. When not watching her kids - and the dog - race around her big backyard in Southwest Missouri, she's teaching American Government at a local community college. She's a founding member and President of MozArks ACFW, category coordinator for First Impressions, blogger at InspyRomance, and represented by Tamela Hancock Murray of The Steve Laube Agency.
What do you do when you are pressed into a hard place? Do you fight back and possibly cause more problems or do you say okay and hope things work out? Well, Madi and Wyatt learn what they need to do and then find out just how much they connect. In this last book of the Small Town series, Vi and Mama Beach work their magic again and things get hopping. I loved reading this book, one - because it’s written by Carol Moncado, two - because it was fun to read all about the bookish stuff that Madi deals with, and three - because I know it will always be full of sweet romance. It was also fun to hear more about the Beach family and find out some answers to some of the issues in the family. If you’ve ever read any of the other royal books of Carol Moncado then you will see there are lots of connections in this book too. Carol Moncado has a wonderful way of telling stories that will touch your heart and stay with you. They are the ones, you as a reader, can relate to. I know every time I pick up a book written by Carol Moncado I will be entertained. This book was exactly that! I highly recommend picking up this book. I was given this book by the publisher which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is the final book in the Beaches of Trumanville series. In this book, readers discover any questions they had throughout the previous books in the series. This book focuses on Madi and Wyatt. Madi is the quiet introvert of the Beach family. She also is a writer and recently had a movie made from her book (this occurred in a previous book). She accidentally runs into Wyatt, a major league baseball star who has had a run of bad luck. Later due to her recent popularity, her agent asks her to be on a reality show. Wyatt’s agent also asked him to be a part of the same show, but neither of them realize it. You will have to read this to find out what surprises the reality show gives Madi and Wyatt in this sweet conclusion to the series. This book helps bring to fruition things readers were wondering in the previous books. Readers of Ms. Moncado’s previous books will also get to catch up with characters from one of her previous series. This series would be a great addition to your library if you enjoy romance books. I highly recommend this series and know you will not be disappointed!
As always I couldn't wait to get my nose into Carol Moncados books. Small Town Girls Don't Marry Baseball Stars is the last in the Beaches of Trumanville series. I was awesome, maybe my favorite of the series. It's the story of Madi Beach, the writer sister of the Beach siblings and Wyatt Carson baseball star who as we got a glimpse of in the previous book had a rough year in the ballpark. Bumping into each other outside her family's bookstore. Then end up on a dating show together. I loved the baseball references. Big baseball fan and one of the players mentioned from the 80's I worked with his cousin way back when. I loved the craft show, big crafter. It's always fun to meet old friends from previous books. Madi and Wyatt have pasts to deal with. Family surprises arise. A wonderful story of learning to trust, love and God's faithfulness. I highly recommend this book and all of Carols others. I look forward to the next series that's in the works. Enjoy and be blessed.
What an end to a wonderful series of books! I always enjoy reading Carol Moncado’s books. The characters are believable and lovable. We visit characters again from previous books. I always am anxious for a new book. This book is no different. I was anticipating the conclusion of several different situations from this series, The Beaches of Trumanville. Madi and Wyatt are charming characters. How they deal with the twist and turns of life and the grace of God is heartwarming. Be prepared for surprises popping up and possible shocks. I wish the parents of the Beaches siblings got more of what’s coming to them, but that’s not what a Christian should feel. HAHA! I love how at the end of the book we get a glimpse of what could possible be a new series by the matchmaking character Violet Braverman. Could the Milligan sisters be a series from the author?

Are you ready for another Small Town Girl story? This is the final installment in this series, but there are enough loose ends that the characters you’ve come to know and love will definitely end up in future Moncado books. Again, this one has a lot of ties to the Monarchy of Belles Montagnes series. I ended up going back and re-reading parts of all three of the books in that series to remind myself of key plot points that suddenly show up in this book.
The plot twist in this book that forces the main couple together was the most far-fetched of the series. You’ll have to just suspend rational thinking and enjoy what Moncado does with it.
Carol Moncado has done it again. I’ve been following her and pre-ordering her books for the past few years since I was first introduced to her world building in Finding Mr. Write and Good Enough For A Princess.
The conclusion of the Beaches Of Trumanville ticked off nearly everything I can think of (except maybe Heidi) and kept me up until some point after two am. I loved the characters and fell asleep with a smile on my face.
Highly recommend any and all of her books, but this one had some of my favorite characters and is probably among my favorites of all her books. And yes... I believe I’ve actually read them all.
Wyatt absolutely blew it in all seven games of the World Series. His season had been great record wise, but he couldn't seem to do anything right. He escaped to a small town in Missouri. He literally ran into Madi. Then he attended a book club as a favor. Somehow Madi, an author of popular romances, and Wyatt, a star baseball player agree to be on a TV game show. Carol Moncado finishes her small town girl series with this fun romance. Of course, some of her characters from her Prince and Princess books make brief appearances in this book.
This is the final book in a five book series. So good on its own but wraps up the previous stories in a nice little bow. This final book is about an author and a baseball player. The background is interesting and well researched and adds a lot of depth. There are some challenges that occur and the author handles them thoughtfully. On top of all that there are some clever one liners in the dialogue. Just cracked me up and I could use some light hearted moments. I think it would be best to start at book one and read them in order but since they’re all good, it will be fun!
The Small Town Girl’s series has been great and I didn’t want it to end. However, this is a great book. If you have read any of Carol Moncado’s earlier books, you will love seeing some of those characters make a special appearance in this one. I love how she weaves her series characters together. You can definitely enjoy this book though even if it is the first book you have read from this author. It is so cute and a clean read. Pick it up. I know you will love it!
Great ending to the series about small town siblings marrying and of course living happily ever after. Lots of loose ends pulled together so if you can , read the others in the series first. However, it does stand alone and even though some tough topics come up, it is sweet. I have been waiting for Mari's turn for love and it was worth the wait. I enjoyed the series and the way it ties into the other books by this author.
Madi Beach runs smack dab into a wall that turns out to be a man on her way to work in the bookstore. She later comes to know that man as Connor, who is really Wyatt, the baseball star incognito. When both are asked to do a reality dating show, they both agree, unbeknownst to the other. Loved getting to know these two, and the struggles that come up during the story. It was fun seeing some familiar names, and Yvette and Nicklaus as well.
I will be honest and say baseball is my absolute least favorite sport. But this book was fun anyway. I thought this book was one of the best in the series, though the resolution with the Beach parents felt a bit anticlimactic. Overall an excellent read. And the blurb for the next book has me hitting the preorder button ASAP!
As always a great book! With recent events in the world I could relate to the characters in ways I otherwise would not have which made it that much better! I love how she tied it in without outright copying it. Highly recommend! I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review... all thoughts and opinions are mine :)

This was a fun read. It didn’t have the intrigue often found in Carol’s books, and the problems were nothing huge, but it was an enjoyable read. The premise of the book seemed off—I wasn’t sure how a wholesome tv network could force a set-up like marriage without the participants knowledge ahead of time, but it was fun to read.
I always think Ms Moncado's books couldn't be any better. And then I read the next one. This story is a great mix of romance, flawed but lovable characters, and just plain fun. Inspiration in the midst of tears, laughter, and real-life issues. As always, I eagerly await this author's next book.
This is a refreshing and outstanding romance with many twist and turn as well as sweet and charming moments keep you on the edge of your seat till the very end as they journey towards their own unforgettable romance.
This was another wonderful romance with an intriguing storyline and cast of characters. This book is recommended for those who love Christian romance featuring royalty.
I have enjoyed every one of Carol Moncado’s books. I love that the story feels like it just continues with each new book adding more characters. Madi and Wyatt’s story was a great conclusion to the Beaches of Trumanville series.
I loved all the stories about the Beach siblings. The were so well written. I will say Madi was my favorite. I sincerely hope Hedi gets her story. My heart really hurt for her.
Another entertainingly fun read by Ms. Moncado. I enjoy escaping to this small town with loving families and different storylines. The Beach siblings come together to make a special family, in spite of their parents. And everyone needs a Mama Beach in their life.
This book was the best conclusion to Beaches of Trumanville. It allowed closure to Mia's story and how all the other siblings faires. But most important love seeped into the main characters lives.
This was a sweet Christian read that I enjoyed, a fun conclusion to the Beach family books. I would rate this PG for mentions of sex, no graphic details given.
I really like Carol Moncado's books. This one is no exception . Wyatt has had a really rough time of it since everyone thought it was his fault his team lost the series. Masi is trying to get her design business going. They meet and God proves He can take the lemons of our lives and turn them to something sweet when we allow Him to be the Lord of our lives. Sweet read.
I really liked Madi and Wyatt. They had an instant connection and their story is on track with how her siblings marriages started. I love all of the marriage of convenience books and also how far their lives tangle with other characters from her other series! We've got an unanswered question or two but I know Moncado crosses over with other series so we may see them answered down the line.
Loved the characters and plot. Loose ends throughout the series were tied up and this makes the conclusion to the entire series perfect. Can’t wait for the next series to begin.
I have been eagerly waiting for Small Town Girls Don’t Marry Baseball ever since I finished Sean’s book, Small Town Girls Don’t Marry Their Backup, and it does not disappoint. Small Town Girls Don’t Marry Baseball Stars is the fifth and last book in Carol Moncado’s Beaches of Trumanville. We finally get to read about Madi Beach and learn what beach she is named after. :) Madi loved her siblings but she found herself getting lonely as she watched them live happily married. Life is getting busy and her book sales are looking up but she still needs to up her publicity. She agrees to go on a dating show where she finds herself married to a baseball star, Wyatt Carson. She will have to figure out how to make a marriage work while being on tv. But just when things are starting to straighten, secrets threaten to break all of the truth they had worked so hard to gain. Madi was such an interesting character because she isn’t a lot like me and yet I really enjoyed reading about her. She was kind and fun, but she was also really introverted. It was also really cool to see the writing process she goes through as a writer in the books. She was the oldest Beach daughter so she really cared about her siblings and wanted what was best for them. I love the sibling banter and interactions, they remind me of me and my siblings. I really liked Wyatt, he was having a hard season and I really felt for him. He seemed like a really nice guy and I really enjoyed reading about him caring for Madi. He wanted their relationship to work and even though he didn’t have the best examples, he tried his best to make sure that their relationship could work out. However secrets from his past will come back to haunt him, will he be able to stand by Madi and be the husband she needs. I loved seeing the Beach siblings through his eyes, it was so fun. Madi and Wyatt was a wonderful end to a great series. Mama Beach was as awesome in this book as she was in the books before it. I loved how Carol was able to make each book feel new and different. This book had so many surprise and hidden secrets that I nearly screamed when I read about them. It answered some questions but left you with so many more, if you have read Ms. Moncado’s other books you need to read this book. I am so excited for Dinner with a Prince and I am eagerly waiting for it to come out!
Great conclusion to this series. Love how the author gives the reader a sneak peek into a writers world. Also great to have characters from previous books and series pop in for a time. So nice to be able to catch up with these characters. Sad the series is over but cannot wait to see what she does next!
