Dr. Kevin Hoffarth graduated from medical school in 2000, and completed his family medicine residency at Creighton University in 2003. In his first ten years as a family physician, he worked in every area of medicine possible; from births to deaths and everything in between. During those years in the trenches, he realized that how he was taught to approach the ailments of his patients could be vastly improved upon. It was then that he decided to embark on a medical journey to seek out and learn the new philosophies and ways of more effectively treating 21st century medical issues. In his book, Dr. Hoffarth guides us through the knowledge he has gathered across this journey, his 7 years of experience implementing what he learned along the way, and the appreciation he has gained towards the ties that bind us all. He will walk you through his application of treating the 5 “S.T.A.M.P” triggers, along with his basic principles on tackling illness, building discipline, and learning how to be your best self both physically and mentally. In a world filled with conflicting advice, a constant flow of new information, and the common practice of treating symptoms over illness, Dr. Hoffarth brings us the most basic starting points to healing- cutting over the noise and confusion plaguing the patients of the medical world.
Kevin Hoffarth's book is a game changer and has been needed for a long time. My wife and I have been following "Integrative"/"Functional" medicine for the last 15 years and this book does a great job of summarizing some of the key tenants that we have learned and teaching us many more. The practices in this book have substantially improved my quality of life over the last several years. This book demystifies what is needed to live a healthy life free of chronic illness. It explains what it takes to be healthy (and why) in a way which non-medical people can understand and act upon. It is a must read and I’m sending a copy to every close friend who values health and longevity. It is my firm belief that if every person in our great country internalized and adopted the practices in the book, healthcare costs in this country would decrease in excess of 80%.
This is such a great book for anyone looking to get on the road to healthy. Dr.Hoffarth keeps everything so simple to understand while educating the reader on the different focuses of health everyone needs to pay attention to. He also makes it very clear that while everyone isn't starting at the same place everyone can end up feeling a more optimal version of themself.
The book really helps change the perspective of traditional medicine that there is a pill for everything. While that may be true, there is also a lot of things a person can do to not need a pill and that is highlighted through the book.
If you want to feel better, physically and mentally I highly suggest starting with this book.
I wish I had Dr. Hoffarth’s book and advice years ago. He is a physician who looks at the big picture of having optimal healthy bodies and not merely treating symptoms when our bodies tell us something is wrong. He doesn’t throw out traditional medicine completely, but he digs deeper into our lifestyle and our mental, physical, and spiritual health to discover unknown triggers that may be damaging to our health and our sense of well being. This book is easy to read, and Dr. Hoffarth makes difficult concepts easy to understand .
Amazing read for anyone looking to improve their overall health. It gets right to the point of basic knowledge of everyday health and how to approach stress, toxins, allergens, microbes, and poor diet. It touches on every aspect of modern day living. Highly recommend!
