I was influenced by christian values a lot whilst growing up and I think it allowed me to pause and actually think through my decisions in life. I also think that they led me to think about love and relationships quite deeply for which I was sometimes seen as "too serious". I think that romantic relationships should be taken seriously, otherwise there is no need to get in them.
To actually review this book, I deeply disagreed with a lot of the advice given in the responses to letters. I understand that this is now almost 50 years old and that some things are taken much more seriously (adult men dating teenage girls and domestic abuse especially), but it bothered me. Especially as I think my views have changed a lot from being a teen to almost 30. I would really have liked to hear from these people who received the advice after say 20 years to see how their lives have been.
But this was a pastor advising young christians. Someone who took the time to listen and take these people's concerns seriously, guiding them to grow and learn, with the focus on God. I remember having a pastor like that and how much of an effect he had on my life. I will never forget that. Therefore I think the message overall is positive.

Very insightful and practical, late Walter Trobisch's book (published in 1979) is still relevant and very helpful to young people facing problems in the area of sexuality, relationships (with God, family, friends and those they are attracted to), and maturity today. Young people getting a chance to read this book will see themselves relate to the letters of the YP who wrote Trobisch and understand the answers given by him. Though I may not agree with every word he said, I can still heartily recommend to YP who are having struggles at their age.
