“My cheeks hurt from laughing at the outrageously hilarious situations that Val gets into. Holidays with crazy family members, and the redneck mentality were a hoot and so very accurate. This series is my absolute favorite.”“In a style much like Janet Evanovich, her characters leave you laughing out loud and find you wishing to meet them.”“I haven't laughed this hard in a while. Val's mother and aunts are hoots. People, you've got to read this book!”“It doesn't get much better than this. Another crazy romp through Val land.”“I laughed, and cried, until tears ran down my cheeks with both. My heart swelled with joy, my gut clenched with pain. I wanted to reach into the book and hug Val like she was a long lost sister.”“To find a book that is both hilarious and tear jerking is somewhat of a rarity and to find an author that produces such books is just as rare. From laughing one minute to being emotional the next, this book is fantastic!!! I recommend this book and the entire series.”"OMG! Phenomenal Writing! Val could be Stephanie Plum's double!"This bargain-priced volume contains Seven Daze, Figure Eight, Cloud Nine, and a link to bonus material. Grab it and get laughing!
Why do I love underdogs? Well, it takes one to know one.
Like the main characters in my novels, I haven’t lead a life of wealth or luxury. In fact, as it stands now, I’m set to inherit a half-eaten jar of Cheez Whiz…if my siblings don’t beat me to it.
During my illustrious career, I’ve been a roller-skating waitress, an actuarial assistant, an advertising copywriter, a real estate agent, a house flipper, an organic farmer, and a traveling vagabond/truth seeker. But no matter where I’ve gone or what I’ve done, I’ve always felt like a weirdo.
I’ve learned a heck of a lot in my life. But getting to know myself has been my greatest journey. Today, I know I’m smart. I’m direct. I’m jaded. I’m hopeful. I’m funny. I’m fierce. I’m a pushover. And I have a laugh that lures strangers over, wanting to join in the fun.
In other words, I’m a jumble of opposing talents and flaws and emotions. And it’s all good.
I enjoy underdogs because we’ve got spunk. And hope. And secrets that drive us to be different from the rest.
So dare to be different. It's the only way to be! Happy reading!
I want to say that I got the first book in the Val Fremeden series by Author Margaret Lashley. I have never laughed so much at Val’s, Winkey, Goober and friends. Beside a crazy neighbor, Laverne with her Vegas decorations.
I loved Tom, he seems like a good match for Val. Totally understand her mother, but she loved Val like her own. The description of Florida was very interesting. Made me want to jump on a plane and move.
Thank you so much I suggest that anyone who wants to read a series of laugh out loud do so.
These books were all a hoot, with laugh out loud moments and groans for bad puns. The final book waa a good culmination of the five years of Val's life. The settings perfect and believable, the characters are fun.
I have one question I wish the author could answer. Why did Tom make the comment about Vietnam? He would have been a toddler at best, most likely not even born yet, during that time.
surprisingly entertaining. i read the 1-3 then purchased absolute 0, then to 4-6 and of course through 7-9. Ms Lashley graciously offered the two weddings book free. Am looking forward to reading this one also. I can so relate to these characters and Val herself. Witty writing and cooky characters, easy and fun read.
It’s great that the main characters are wacky and older! And “relationships” are discussed discreetly, not in humid detail! She’s so much like a real, confused, borderline elderly person! I get sick of reading where everyone is young and sexy, thanks for keeping the whacky pack “real” :-)
This series is full of laughs, adventure and just all out enjoyment. I would recommend this series to everyone. Hope the story continues. Margaret Langley I love your writing!!
I have loved this series! Watching Val grow and learn it’s Not all about the outward appearance of anyone. And how sometimes the weird ones are the BEST friends anyone could have. I sure hope so many people read this and find their own tribe/family
Such a fun series. I just fount out there are 3 more Val Fremden books in a series after this one. Starting with The Time I Kinda Killed a Guy. Getting ready to dig in!
Middle age with an ever growing backside, I can identify with this and so many other situations in the book. I love these books because they never fail to bring laughs. I laughed my ass off!
