Linguist Andy Dennison-Jones knows this all too well. He and his veterinarian wife, Sun, have been chased by them before, and barely escaped from a secret underground government facility with their lives.
Now they once again find themselves trapped alongside a collection of creatures straight out of hell. Fighting with them is an unlikely group of misfits, including a misplaced British kid, a former spec-ops soldiers, and a strange Irishman who might be the oldest living thing on earth—if he's even alive at all.
Filled with the kind of slam-bang action, wicked scares, and sly humor that have earned J.A. Konrath and Iain Rob Wright millions of fans, HOLES IN THE GROUND is both a collaboration and a continuation of both authors' previous work (ORIGIN by Konrath and FINAL WINTER by Wright) but also serves as a perfect introduction to their universes. The devil you know is just as bad as the devil you don't...
HOLES IN THE GROUND by J.A. Konrath and Iain Rob WrightSome secrets have teeth
One of Horror's most respected authors, Iain Rob Wright is the writer of more than forty books, many of them bestsellers. A previous Kindle All-Star and a mainstay in the horror charts, he is a prolific producer of unique and original stories. From his apocalyptic saga The Gates to his claustrophobic revenge thriller ASBO, Iain writes across a broad spectrum of sub genres, creating both beloved series and standalone titles.
With work available in several languages and in audio, Iain Rob Wright is one of the fastest rising stars in horror, but when not writing he is a dedicated family man. Father to Jack and Molly, and husband to Sally, he is often seen sharing his family memories with his fans on Facebook.
I really enjoyed Holes in the Ground (kindle edition) by Iain Rob Wright who is a British author and J A Konrath an American author.
The prequel to Holes in the Ground is by J A Konrath when Andy Dennison receives a phone call from President Roosevelt. Andy is a linguist translator is introduced to Dr. Sunshine Jones who is a vetenerian and they are both introduced to Bub aka devil and Beelzebub and barely escape with their lives from Samhain and both have nighmares about the place.
Samhain was built in 1906 by President Roosevelt and held just one single subject unlike the Spiral which is host to more than one species of monsters.
They have now both been assigned to Project Monstrum facility 26 or Spiral under General Austin Kane. A young man named Jerry befriended them at their honeymoon suite and Sun and Andy took pity on him and brought him with them.
The Spiral is about to experience something which they have never encountered in the eight years of it's existence and it is going to be a fight to the death.
As a follow up to origin…I’m not gonna lie I had higher aspirations for the continued Bub saga. I would have liked more backstory to the Lucas Bub relationship in development. It felt too much like “cabin in the woods” at times. It was nice to read about the marriage of two main characters from origin but again wanted to know more about their backstory between “Origin”and “Holes”.
It’s a quick read and ties some loose ends. Lookout there are two endings to read (I thought something was wrong with my kindle when the book started over with 50% of the book to go) Enjoyable if you are just looking for some monster brain candy.
This is a great book! Never read a story like it! The sub-secret base with all the strange-demon animals and our heroes, Andy & Sun. There are two versions of this book in one. The second version, which I think was the original, is better. Especially since it didn't have the last names of Andy & Sun as Drs Dennison-Jones, which was just too stupid in the first story. A werewolf that plays 'ball' and a twist ending! Enjoy!
Could not be more derviative.....Uses old characters in the same old scenario with a huge rip off dose of Cabin in the Woods. #spoiler...There is NO reason they would bring Jerry along. There is in fact NO reason used at all in the story line. Fun is fun...but simple blocking in scenes is discarded. Stick with Original Konrath work....
I can’t believe how quickly I read this book. It made me laugh, cry, yell and I was surprised more than once. This is not the end and I can’t wait to meet Bub again...
This was a joyride from the suspension to the action to the writing styles of going from character to character as if you're watching a movie playing scene by scene it's awesome
