Though lacking much authentic Welsh blood, Kim Lawrence comes from English-Irish stock. She was born and brought up in North Wales. She returned there when she married, and her sons were both born on Anglesey, an island off the coast. Though not isolated, Anglesey is a little off the beaten track, but lively Dublin, which Kim loves, is only a short ferry ride away. Today they live on the farm her husband was brought up on. Welsh is the first language of many people in this area and Kim's husband and sons are all bilingual she is having a lot of fun, not to mention a few headaches, trying to learn the language! She is a keen gardener and cook and enjoys running often on the beach, as living on an island the sea is never very far away. She is usually accompanied by her Jack Russell, Sprout don't ask, it's long story!

With small children, the unsocial hours of nursing didn't look attractive so encouraged by a husband who thinks she can do anything she sets her mind to, Kim tried her hand at writing. Always a keen Mills & Boon reader, it seemed natural for her to write a romance novel. In 1995, she published her first novels and now she can't imagine doing anything else.

I never read kim Lawrence and this book was a good introduction, the marriage in trouble is one of my favorite tropes, everything for the angst.
This one was pretty good with decent characters and a good plot not very angsty but enjoyable .

Safe read : hero is the only lover of the heroine. Both celibate during separation .

If the opening chapter is “stop everything you’re doing right now and read this” I’m usually sold for the rest for the book and Waking Up in His Royal Bed was just that!

Bea and her husband Dante, the Crown Prince of San Macizo, are in the process of being divorced but one night when Bea lets her walls down, fate brings them back together. Waking Up in His Royal Bed is the reunited marriage storyline done right! Two passionate people, who if they can figure out how to be together would be a force to be reckoned with.

Both characters are very likable, Dante is a great hero and the curve balls are interesting and the locations and additional characters are interesting and added to the story. The dialogue and situational set ups flow well and developmentally I was excited to see how everything would be resoved.

With the history that shrouds them Bea and Dante face the fear of history repeating itself, the crown and family pressures suffocating them and their own feelings for each other and the intense finale. I thought Waking Up in His Royal Bed was extremely enjoyable, emotional and adventurous and as a result of this story, I want to read more of Kim Lawrence’s stories.

Very much enjoyed and highly recommended.

A Mills & Boon romance; it has been a long time M&B.

Not to bad a little read, on the whole, there are all the suitable smouldering looks between the incredibly beautiful female lead and the hot male lead, in this case the crown price of an imaginary, small island nation somewhere in (Europe?) where Italian is spoken.

The suitably complex misunderstandings which come between them, despite their deep attraction, are easily smoothened out at the end of the book, for the expected happy ending.

Delivers all the promised essentials in a pleasant, if whole predictable fashion.

Summary:

A prince & his princess are in the middle of a divorce however they both give in to a night of passion. The princess ends up getting pregnant & doesn’t know what to do….

My Thoughts:

This was my first Mills & Boon book & I was really looking forward to reading it but I ended up being disappointed. While the plot sounds good, I just couldn’t take to Lawrence’s writing & I found myself skimming over quite a bit of this book (and that’s something I rarely do!)

I was interested in the relationship between the two main characters. They were attracted to each other but they had problems with their relationship because they have different points of understanding and not really able to see how each cared about the other. Eventually, they talked more and discovered that they do have the feelings and do love each other.

I simply loved this book and my favorite quote was “I love you, Beatrice. Stay with me, be my wife and let me be me with you, even if I have to be royal for the world”......such an apt summary.

Love the premises behind story

I struggle sometimes with this author and how she words things. I always like the synopsis, and I’m a sucker for pregnancy tropes. I sometimes have to go back and reread a sentence to understand what was just said. Plus this book jumped back and forth especially in the beginning from the past and present. I got so confused. I actually like the two characters, but at the same time I never felt I connected with their love story. It almost needed more.
