Great Story

I enjoyed this story set at the start of the American Civil War in Missouri. This headstrong heroine has a heart of gold, but questions what she doesn't understand. I enjoyed the romance and the action, all which provided some insight into the history of this time period in Missouri.

Robert and Mollie's story

I loved how Mollie took such chances to help the slaves on the Underground Railroad. It was very daring for her because of the dangers involved if she got caught. I'm glad that Robert and Mollies uncle were able to give her a safer job to do but still help out. I'm really enjoying reading the books in this series.

Sweet Historical Romance

What a terrible time in our history!! But God created love between a man and a woman, and we need it in our darkest moments more than any other! This story is an excellent example of this.

The North and South historical romances present an intriguing and thought provoking perspective on the early year of the Civil War - 1861. Missouri Bride related the underground railroad, spying, the role of government and its leaders in this torn state, German and Irish immigrants, the Ladies Aid Society, and St. Louis as the gateway to the west. Cyndi Raye begins each chapter with a quote by a famous Civil War person. Believable characters, twist and turn plot makes this romance a page turner. An enjoyable read.

A truly wonderful story and I am really enjoying this series! Of course this one is set in Missouri, a state that tried to stay neutral before the war started in earnest.
Mollie had come to stay with her uncle, who had an important job and position. Her goal was to help aid slaves to escape into the underground and be free. When Capt. Robert Warren, her uncle's best friend found out what she was doing, he and her uncle had to ask her to stop because it would cause problems for her uncle. But Robert soon gets her involved with another cause.
As they spend time together, it does not take them long to form an attraction. But there is trouble coming and the city will be in turmoil. Can these two withstand the pressures and help each other in the coming disruptions?
Great story and well told...

Civil war stories are a favorite of mine. This book about the early years of the war is focused on the State of Missouri. The task of the Hero is to protect an Arsenal. The Heroine really wants to help the war effort, and tasks herself to work to help free the slaves. She wants to continue on her fathers work in helping those less fortunate. Is this the best fit for her? Will they come together to work with each other or strive to work against each other. A rift between them, could cause some problems. Will they heal in time or damage the work they are trying to do? I appreciate the research involved in this story. I learned a few things as well!
I enjoyed this book and am sure you will too. I received an ARC of this book and am choosing to leave an honest review.

Mollie's Uncle is concerned when he sees her repeatedly sneaking out of the house at night. He has his friend, Captain Warren, follow her. When they discover she's putting herself and her Uncle's position at risk, Captain Warren finds a different job for her. Can they work together to keep Missouri a neutral state? Or will the new Governor cause problems?
This is a clean, sweet romance. It wasn't my favourite in the series but it was still worth reading. Too bad there wasn't much going on in 1861 for backgrounds for stories. The only real thing that annoyed me with this book was that the ending felt rushed and everything seemed to happen in the epilogue of all places....

Mollie was sent to stay with her uncle after being disobedient at home, however this was intentional as she wished to help escape slaves on the underground railway. Her involvement was discovered by Robert, a captain in the army in charge of the local arsenal. He is intent on preventing Southern sympathisers from taking control of the arsenal and recruits Mollie's help in preventing this whilst their mutual attraction is growing.
This was an interesting insight into what was happening during these times with the addition of the romantic angle.
I received an advance copy of this book from the author, however this did not influence my review of the book.

Civil war

A solider doing his duty, and the woman he’s grown to love. Will his orders and actions due to the war get in the way of their love? She’s already proven she’s a strong woman by sneaking and helping with the Underground Railroad, and acting as a spy in the enemies camp. So her strong will be enough to overcome?
No sexual references or language so I can recommend this to anyone who wants to read this. Also it’s part of a series but it’s an independent read.
