“You desire termination instead of assignment on Lonus N88. Our records show that you were selected as Warlord Bolden’s mate. That is an impressive circumstance. I am not certain I understand why you want reassignment. Is there a reason for your request?” Just like the clerk, he tapped information into the COMM unit.

“One isn’t needed. I am familiar with intergalactic law. I would like to get this over with now, if you don’t mind.” My voice was as flat and lifeless as my heart. The heart that once swelled with love for Zayn.

**********************************************************************************

Gracie Thomson is wrongly convicted of a crime on earth. She finds herself exiled on Lonus N88. All she wants to do is find a way to survive. At least, that is her plan until she meets the planet’s enigmatic warlord ruler—an alien who awakens her heart.

Warlord Zayn Bolden must produce an heir to ensure his uncontested reign of Lonus N88. Things are complicated. He is nearly assassinated and jilted on the same day. His trust in females is nearly destroyed. Zayn finds Gracie, a human female who crash-landed on his planet. She gives him hope, love, and her undying devotion. Until his past comes roaring back with brutal force to rip them apart.

Will Zayn overcome the demons of his past in time to save Gracie and Lonus N88? Or will she disappear from his life forever?

Zayn is the king of Lonus. To stay the king, he needs an heir. The only problem is that all Lonusian females are infertile. Evie is an accountant on Earth. She is framed and is sentenced to be jettisoned to another planet. That planet is Lonus. When she arrives in the shuttle, she is taken to undergo procedures to ensure that she is fertile and can get pregnant with Zayn's child. Of course, there are Lonusians that don't want Zayn to be king and plot to hurt her. But Zayn has her back and they have a HEA. This was a cute story, but a little more background would have been nice.

This is one of the most fucked up reads I've ever had. Jesus fucking christ.
The writing is barely passing. Nothing makes sense, it's all written like a child with no understanding of how the world works but with a sick fantasy of wanting to be a victim. I wish I could rate this minus stars.

*SPOILERS below*

---

Zayn is a psychotic sociopath.
Has human women experimented on and basically murdered, cause he needs a fertile woman with his species gene's in order to get a heir. Sorry no, nuh uh. That's not hot.

Gracie is a child.
She acts like one of those women, you know the ones... The ones who talks baby language and plays with crayons, yes. Those.

If both characters died, I wouldn't be upset.

The emotions poured out in this story through the wonderful dialogue and thoughts of the characters. I thought her reactions were believable and heartbreaking. He seemed realistic in his reactions to her behavior - confusion, anger, loss, and undeniable love. I was happy the way the author created complications for this couple though I was surprised by how quickly it seemed she changed her mind yet it wasn’t meant to be quick. There was an indication of movement of time but it happened with few words making the time seem short. Just my opinion. I liked the angst and the ending was perfect.

Grace was selected to mate with Warlord Bolden's. She's sentenced to Lonus N88. She's only wants to find a way to survive. She meets the planet's warlord, Zayn, who awakens her heart. But there are complications with that relationship. He was so happy with Grace who gives him love, hope and undying devotion. But all that crashes when dealing with a past that destroys them and rips them apart. There is action, drama, complications, trust, deception, lies, romance and love. Will Zayn and Grace ever find their happy ever after? I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Framed and jettisoned to another planet.....Can she survive and maybe find a future

Zayn is the first book in the Alien Kings series by A.R. Ford. It is a quick read with action, drama, adventure, some strange inter-species happenings and some "love". The story-line was good but I did not connect with either Zayn or Evie fully and there were details that would have helped fill-in the story. For me this was an okay story with the potential of being really good.

I received a copy of this book for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Popsugar Reading Challenge 2021 - A book whose title starts with “Q”, “X”, or “Z”: Z

I think I might have liked this more if Gracie didn't read like an immature, naïve minor. She really sounds young. Like she stopped developing mentally at a very young age.

And Zayn is a freaking warlord sociopath that had countless women experimented on, knowing it could kill them, so that he could use them as an incubator for an heir so that he could keep his throne.

There's no one here to root for at all. Except maybe the assassins.

This is a fast paced novel of a human and alien romance focusing on Zayn, the King of Lonus N88 who must produce an heir to maintain his leadership position, and Gracie, who was falsely convicted of a crime on Earth and sent to Lonus N88. This great novel has well developed characters and a plot with drama, suspense, and sizzling chemistry.

This is my second book by Ford, but the first one out of the Omegaverse series. I did prefer the other series, only because I just felt like Gracie and Zayn's relationship just felt a little flat for me. I did enjoy the alien details, but just didn't really get into the relationship. I just didn't feel like they really got to know each other well enough for me to believe it.

Gracie was wrongly convicted of a crime on Earth and sentenced to Lonus N88, she only wants to find a way to survive but then she is selected as Zayn’s mate and sparks fly. What will happen when his past destroys what they have found together. Fast-paced steamy sci-fi read with loads of drama, suspense and steam. The world building is great and the story enjoyable. I liked it.

The story line and character work were good. The book had a fairly smooth flow to it. While I enjoyed the book, I was unable to connect to the characters.

There is great world building and use of details and descriptions in the story. It is written well with interesting characters and situations. The pace for me while smooth was a bit too slow for me. It also took me a while to connect with Zayn and Gracie.
