AGENT: Undone

Rate this book
Women were like shot glasses lined up on a bar — until her.

DEA Agent Carter Hollis isn’t big on relationships. After his girlfriend has died in his arms, he becomes a “love ‘em and leave ‘em” kind of guy. He spends most of his time between his work and random one-night stands. But when he is wounded during an operation, he has no choice but to take a medical leave, slow down and spend a few weeks recuperating in Florida.

Escaping a painful and terrifying past, Madison Ward lives in hiding under a new identity. Content with her tranquil lifestyle on the Florida Panhandle, she’s not looking for changes, least of all—a new relationship.

When Carter and Madison meet, the sparks fly, at least from his side. But after Carter is called back for an urgent mission, cutting his vacation short, she finds herself lonelier than ever. Despite Carter’s promise to come back, she doesn’t hear from him. And as her past catches up with her, her worst nightmare comes true. Back in her personal hell, she knows there is no way out. With her situation growing increasingly dangerous by the moment, she has no choice but accept her fate and hope death comes quickly.

Will Carter find her before it’s too late? And would he search for her at all?
After all, he is “love ‘em and leave ‘em” kind of guy…

Cassidy Reyne lives in the London area. She drinks champagne. She dines, occasionally, in opulent clubs. She travels, reads, takes leisurely walks in the country, enjoys photography, and replenishes her soul among the trees in a forest or by the edge of the ocean.
She grew up in Sweden and moved to the UK where she was wined and dined by a fabulous gentleman who swept her off her feet and somehow convinced her to stay.

She started her career in the hotel industry, where she met glamorously fabulous and gloriously interesting humans. And some that were not so much of either.
She gave that up to raise two loving and amazing human beings who make her proud and astonished every day by their values, zest for life, and desire to take the world by storm — or at least some small corner of it.
Now, she sits in her office, or in the backyard, weaving tales of delicious alpha males tamed by strong women. Will they have their happily ever after? Who is to say?
Cassidy tortures her readers as much as her characters with twists and turns and obstacles until the very end where you don’t know if the lovers who smolder in bed will be able to keep the blaze going, or will the world Cassidy created tear them apart?

You’ll have to read her stories to find out.

Agent Undone is the story of DEA Agent Carter and trafficking/abuse victim Madison. Both of them have to deal with ghosts from the past-ghosts they go to great lengths to avoid and deny. This romantic suspense novel is not your average romance, and I don't think that's how it should be read either. Reyne shows us a darker side of our society that is true for more women than I'd like to count; it shows a level of depravity men (and women) are capable of as well as the consequences of that depravity on the victims. I enjoyed the darker side of this story, although enjoy is perhaps not the proper word for this situation. I loved the realness of Madison, of how she has dealt and deals with her situation. Carter can be an ass, but he has his own issues to deal with and doesn't always do that the right way. All in all though, I went through this book fast and really enjoyed reading it.

If you have a history with abuse (mental/physical), death, depression, this book may be a trigger.

Wow, what an amazing book!
I received an ARC of Agent Undone and I was not disappointed. What starts off as an easy boy meets girl and they fall in love story is complicated by ghosts of the past. You feel like they are making progress and then BAM! None stop action right through to the last page.
The characters are well thought out, their reactions are consistent, the action scenes are detailed, and the steamy scenes are... nuclear!
If you enjoy a romantic suspense novel, you will be crying out for more of Agent Carter Hollis.

This book was fantastic, I could not put it down. The story was fast paced and full of action, on top of being brilliantly written, it is the definition of a page turner. Cassidy brings her characters to live on the page and you can't help but get caught up in how they are feeling, there were so many times when I wanted to slap Carter silly for the way he was acting and treating Madison but at the same time I couldn't help but feel slightly sorry for him. The story really flows and I love the way you often get to see the same event from both characters point of view. This book covers a number of horrific topics but Cassidy does not shy away, she makes sure that you can see all the horrible things going on but in doing so, she allows you to feel a sense of victory when the human trafficking ring is stopped. I think it is great that Cassidy didn't have the characters get together straight after the rescue as would happen in some books in this genre, that she allowed them time to recover and get their heads screwed on before they were finally able to become a couple, which makes it more real and also shows the importance of being ready for the relationship.

I would recommend this book to anyone, I cannot say enough good things about it.

Suspenseful and captivating.

This book was absolutely amazing. Once you start reading it, you will find yourself sucked in into Carter and Madison’s story from the very beginning until the end, keeping you wanting more. The plot flowed well. It was dramatic and intense, and the story had my heart racing all the way until the last page.

Another job well done from one of my favorite romance authors.

Honestly, I wish I had stopped reading this book halfway though like I had wanted. But instead I kept reading...and regretted that decision.

Let me just start by saying that the “hero” is a f***ing a**hole. They meet after she escaped from a human trafficker/abusive boyfriend and he is recouping from a wound in Florida. They eventually work up to a few fairly platonic dates, where there is practically no chemistry, before he is called back home to an undercover case. Then despite telling her he would return as soon as he finished this assignment, he decides to not return to her and to start seeing other people. Meanwhile her abusive boyfriend/sex trafficker finds her, drags her back, forcible injects her with heroine before abusing her again and again. The “hero’s” undercover case brings them back together. But instead of thinking this woman, who he has assumed has been abused at some time when they first met, was being abused and held against her will, He just assumed she was there willingly and was perfectly happy despite being malnourished, bruised and acting completely different. Totally understandable. Oh and he also assumed that she had planned their whole meeting even though he was the one who pushed to get to know her despite how scared and reserved she seemed. Yeah toooootaly understandable assumptions here.

His team takes down the bad guy and frees all of the captive women. Then after he’s a complete sh*tstain to her yet again, they end up back at the same beach in Florida. After being nasty to her some more, he finally condescends to listen to her whole story. They then end up in bed and she has a freak out afterwards and leaves. The “hero” loses his sh*t, packs his stuff and is going to just leave when he happens upon her. He is a *shocker* complete a**hole to her...again...and she is forced to apologize. I cannot comprehend that as a DEA agent, with all of their sensitivity and survivor training, he has never once thought that she might have major PTSD from what she went though and might seriously need some therapy after all of that trauma. Especially before jumping into a relationship with anyone. Oh yeah and they confess that they totally love each other and want to live happily ever after. Yeah no. Just no.

I love alpha heros who can be gruff and closed off...but he was just awful. Don’t waste your time unless you want to be grumpy and disgusted at the end of it.

This was a great read. It has some very steamy scenes brought together with a strong plot. The characters are complex, with rich back stories that feeds into who they are. It sensitively deals with difficult topics like trafficking and loss, and doesn't romantacise abuse. I was desperate for them to work out their issues and get together, Read to the satisfying ending.

Impossible to put down! Life has been rough for Madison and Carter, leaving both of them aching, and definitely not in the market for a relationship. Carter, a tough DEA agent, tells himself he is a ladies’ man and acts it, but soon it is obvious that is just a cover for recent, painful heartbreak. The way he cares about his team and the careful way he approaches Madison, a victim of abuse, show that there is much more to him than the callous player he thinks he should be. He clearly cares, he doesn’t pry and when he is upset that his feelings for her are at odds with his “player” persona, he still can’t bring himself to leave.

The story’s darker elements bring depth to the characters, and the often vivid detail of the frightening life Madison is running from makes it all the more amazing that, instead of just curling up in a corner, she finds the strength and purpose to try to turn her experience into something good. Madison’s self-doubt and fear are heartbreaking, and after seeing her escape from that horrifying past, it’s great seeing her start to trust Carter … start to build a life close to normal. It doesn’t last, of course, and everything kinda goes off the rails for a bit, but in the end, this is a romance -- sweet and steamy moments keep it going from beginning to end! This was a quick read for me, only because I could not put it down. I really enjoyed it and knew by the time I was a few pages in I was hooked! So looking forward to more from this author.

Maddie and Carter

First, the writing needs some serious editing. Grammatical errors, and poorly written scenes.

Next, Carter is a jerk — Maddie deserved so much better. He is quick to form negative judgements and never asks her for her side of the story. He is a narcissist. Maddie’s life has been one heartache after another. Her friendship with Carter gives her hope, but he fails her.

He spends the entire book determined to only have one night stands, but knows Maddie is different. And his turnabout happens so fast it is impossible to accept as real.

Book was too long and it felt like the author just added new problems and accidents and evil. Not planning to continue the series.

Wow I think I was on the edge of my seat almost the entire time I was reading this book it felt like!

This is my first time reading anything by this author and I am so glad I got to read this!

Madison meets Carter and it felt like it was an insta-love match and things get pretty HOT. however, Carter has to leave and she wants to believe that he will return but also has doubts.

This book is fast paced, steamy, puts you on the edge of your seat and when you are done you will sit back (make sure you have wild hair also) and just blow out a breath to calm down from it.

I really enjoyed this series and I can't wait to read more by the Author!
