The Descent is Céline Glaude's debut novel. It is a story about Arariel, a fallen angel who's sole mission was to get back to her home. But things started to change when the peace in the mortal world was disturbed and she crossed paths with the Oracle.

Arariel is broody, fearless, badass and woman with a mission, a soldier, if you may. And I understood where she was coming from. She only wanted one thing for so long and because of it she's hurt the feelings of her closest friends, Chrysies and Adnan. But Chry, on the other hand is all bubbly and sweet and fits well with Arariel and her broodiness. There is another character I absolutely love, Cai, but I won't say much about him. You have to read the book to find out.

Céline's writing and world building is great and this book is a page turner. However, I wished this book was longer because I didn't want it to end. This could be turned into an epic series and I really hope it does because the characters that the author has developed are exceptional. You've got a fallen angel, a unicorn shifter, a lion, dragons, werewolves, vamps, elves and who knows what we'll come across in the upcoming books.

In addition to the world building, there is an air of mystery up until this book ends. You don't know whom you can trust and who is going to stab whom or what's going to happen next. This right here will keep you on the edge of your seat and you'd wish for the book to never end too.

I highly recommend this paranormal and fantasy novel.

This is my first novel by this lovely author and it is a great start. Arariel is a great main character if a little more broody than I'm used to FMCs being and she seems a little ungrateful at first but that eventually changes. Chryseis is a good foil for her; very optimistic and supportive. I like how all of the different supernatural beings have their parts to play and each one she meets helps to soften Arariel into a more compassionate being. The description and detail are amazing! I find it very easy to picture what the author describes and can see it like a movie in my head. I'm looking forward to see what's in store for Arariel next.
My only complaints:
The transitions between chapters are a little abrupt and when I first started the story I felt like there were things that came out of the blue. I feel like this series is part of a larger world and I have very little background for it. As I kept reading however things started to make more sense.
Can't wait to see what's next!

“The Descent” by Céline Glaude is the first installment in the NA paranormal romance series “Daughter of the Fallen”, whose FMC, Arariel, is a fallen from grace Guardian Angel, that founds herself unexpectedly cast out of heaven and exiled to Earth. For Arariel, living among humans is a living Hell, and her efforts to keep the balance between humans and Fae a hellish living rerun, that drags her even deeper into the world of the Fae, where she will find some hidden truths about herself and forces her to make an unthinkable choice between fate and love.

Céline Glaude’s writing is fluid and fast-paced, the story is interesting and offers some new insights in both Angels and Fae lore, with well-crafted characters and an entertaining and well constructed plot. A very interesting addiction to the NA paranormal fantasy genre.

Damn this one was tricky. The prophecy that was spoken at beginning was really cryptic and vague, I tried to solve that mistery but gave up, I couldn't guess what it was about. Arariel is a fucking badass. She's strong, fearless, she's a warrior. She feels very protective of her friends, mainly Chrys, the bubbly, colorful, unicorn girl. I loved her. Arariel is also very serious, always thinking of every scenario so nothing goes wrong. And the guys? Cai and Adnan are both protective and super sweet towards Arariel. They were super cute, I just wanted her to give in to her feelings and let go of her worries. But she's a tough one to crack. I can't wait to know what comes next ♥️

A fallen angel makes friends with a unicorn and a lion and try to save the paranormal world. A lot of creatures go into the making of this story and I think as new author she did wonderful. It has relationship drama, back stabbing, and battles. I love a good paranormal story. This seems to take place in the modern world but still has some medieval/ fantasy world vibes. It is a complete story but is left open ended for the next installment of Arariel’s journey to save the world.

This was a wonderful start to this story. The way the author had all these different supernatural characters and the way they interact is just so good. I love the world she created and can’t wait to see what happens next.

This is the 1st book I've read written by Celine Glaude; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

It's enjoyable

It circles a lot trying to be mysterious, but mostly it comes across as filler. There's some grammatical mistakes that funny detract but I'm surprised something like grammarly didn't pick them up. The prose is a little stilted, but it's a good afternoon read.

Whew! Just finished this book and it was just straight up GOOD! I’m not great at book reviews, but definitely wanted to leave my opinion!
This is Celine Glaude’s first novel and she knocked it out of the park. Ari, a fallen angel, is the main character. She is basically trying to save all of the supernatural. The storyline is unexpected and I truly cannot wait for the next installment in this series. The author set it up perfectly at the end!
