A Vow to Love and Protect: Promise Series - Book 2 is a nontraditional contemporary romance thriller filled with suspense and intrigue.
Devilan Kincaid, Irish Mafia boss, flees with his traumatized six-year-old daughter, Brie, to Pony, Montana—population five hundred. Riddled with guilt, devastated at losing everything he’s ever known, Devilan has three goals: keep Brie safe, rain hell down on the people responsible for murdering his family, and reunite with Maggie MacCarthy, the love of his life.
This novel contains adult language, sex, and violence.

"The best high in life is to create stories readers can get lost in for a few hours."
The book features a story centered on love, secrets, heartbreaks, betrayal within the family, and murder. The main character named Devilan, being the son of an Irish Mafia boss, is destined to take over from his father. However, he has no interest in the family business and only wishes to fulfil the dream of living in Malibu and be with his true love Maggie, his best friends, and race motorcycles while doing body art. Later on, the plot turns around, and dynamic events begin to take place one after the other. The novel is fast-paced with scenes that are fascinating, full of passion and action.
The book has a well-developed plot with a nice flow of events from the beginning to the end. The author strives to maintain the right choice of words for the audience to visualize the characters and scenes in their minds easily. Also, the tone and language in the book are pleasant. The transition from an urban setup to slum life is evident, which is an aspect that can be observed in both real life and fantasy. While reading the book, I found the text easy to understand since the language is simple, yet also with a touch of jargon used by most gangs. For instance, there is a scene where a woman is caught in between gunshots exchange among the mafia groups. Not many people understand what slum life may exactly look like, but after reading the book, the author describes such experiences so well that the reader keeps on imagining and attempting to imagine oneself involved in such a situation. Additionally, the use of strong language may have been intentional to represent life in the slams as well as the fact that the novel has a romantic theme.
The book involves dramatic scenes, which I find exciting and creative. Devilan is presented as a man who attempts to strike balance between his two contradicting lives. At one point, he shows the nature of a good and loving son, husband, and father, while in another instance, he becomes part of atrocious acts linked to crime such as murder. In addition, as one reads the book, the story becomes more enticing as its characters face various obstacles. It creates the mood of both despair and, at the same time, inspiration. Generally, the story is well-thought out, has thoroughly planned scenes, and is entertaining. Both character choice and descriptions are also excellent, and the entire narration contains the right balance of views, which are love and romance, adventure, intimacy, action, and disputes.
I loved writing A Vow to Love and Protect: Promises Series - Book 2. It's a continuation of Devilan Kincaid's life in Pony, Montana.
I remained true to my form, A Vow to Love and Protect is a nontraditional contemporary romance thriller. There isn't a shortage of adult language, sex, and violence.
Don't let the length of the novel scare you. The novel is fast-paced and has the answers to many of the questions posed in Broken Promises: Promise Series - Book 1.
The reader is introduced to a multitude of new and exciting characters as Devilan transverses over his tumultuous road to his destiny.
I hope you enjoy reading A Vow to Love and Protect: Promise Series - Book 2 as much as I enjoyed writing it.
I finally finished this second book it was brilliant i do love the people in the book i recommend this to anyone who loves a gangster . I can't put it down and i can't wait to read the third and final book in this series and the author is brilliant. I was so pleased that Tommy and his brother got a new family with Dev and Maggie I felt so sorry for Dev's daughter seeing her mother get murdered the way she did
A really intense intelligent read. I am so like this series of books. It really pulls you into the story. You find it hard to put the book down. You just want to keep reading to find out what is next for this group of characters.
A Vow to Love and Protect, the second book in Susan Liberty’s Promise Series, is evocative and incredibly descriptive, and the first-person storytelling is thrilling and intimate, but it’s not a story for the faint of heart. The plot is intentionally complex and woven together so skillfully it’s like watching a 12-part series on Netflix.
The varied and many characters are well-developed and relatable; the good guys are great, and the bad guys are wicked and evil. And Devilan, the protagonist, is intelligent and witty and is fiercely loyal and dedicated to his family and friends and is vengeful and unforgiving against his enemies.
The writing is top-notch and polished, and the novel is timeless and will forever be five-star rated. Ms. Liberty is an up-and-coming author and one to be watched!
This picks up where we left with the first one. Secrets are revealed too slowly because there's senseless verbiage in lots of spots. Could have gotten to the point 10 chapters ago. Ends in a cliffi again. I'm on the fence about going any further.
**********, Wish there were more stars! There's too much to mention about loving this storyline. Great, strong-willed characters. So much characterization. Wrapped up in this family! Onto the next book..
