The past is Always there..Even if you believe you left it behind... Five years after leaving her life behind, Lucy is starting to actually live her 'new' life. She still has her friend Trish, the only one who knows who she is and what happened in her past. But is she Really the Only one?! Lucy meets a fantastic gentleman, Matthew, who is treating her well and makes her happy. But always in the back of her mind she remembers-HE used to treat me in such a way in the beginning, also. Are all men the same? Trish is a wonderful friend and eventually opens her home, having Lucy move in with her to save them both some money. She tries to make Lucy believe that there are wonderful men out there, not all are hateful and abusive. Finally Lucy feels better, until Matthew's own brother, Jake, warns her Off him! The odd feelings of being watched continue, and there are horrible murders and accidents of those close to her, putting Lucy on edge. But Why, Who is doing this?? Ah,the past is Always there... A fantastic psychological thriller by an author who keeps You guessing until the end!!
Lucy, for the last 5 years, has been in hiding ... changed her name, changed her appearance. She survived years of physical abuse by her husband.. to the point of almost daily beatings and ultimately losing the baby she was carrying. The night he put a gun to her head is when she decided to run.
She's kept under the radar ... but then she meets Matthew. She thinks he's almost too good to be true. Deciding to take a chance, she falls fast. However, his mother and sister have reservations ... and they're especially not overjoyed when Lucy and Matthew announce their marriage plans.
But then.. things begin to happen. Someone tries to run her off the road. Her boss is murdered. Her best friend is assaulted. Maybe it's time that Lucy tells Matthew about her past .. because someone either wants the truth revealed ... or annihilating everyone around her.
Well written, this is full of suspense starting from the very first page. It's a love story ... until it isn't. We all want to meet that wonderful man ... rich, handsome, loving, gentle. Secrets can destroy a relationship ... if you survive. Deftly drawn characters keep the reader riveted to the story until the very unexpected ending.
Many thanks to the author for the digital copy of this psychological thriller. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
On the face of it this could be a romance book, it certainly focuses on Lucy and her new possible relationship with Matthew. Only Lucy is hiding something massive from her past, and as things develop with Matthew, she is starting to wonder if she needs to come clean.
For someone appears to be targeting her and seems intent on either revealing the truth or destroying everyone that is close to Lucy.
And it is that creepy feeling, and darkness that means this is far more of a psychological drama, it creeps under your skin, and makes you wonder just what exactly it is Lucy is hiding, while fearing for her on all levels.
It is so impressive how M. A. Comley seems to excel at just about any genre she turns her hand to. I found I was really caring about the characters, and wanted to know just how things would turn out for Lucy. I loved her best friend Trish too, and her boss Shirley at the travel agent is also a great character.
Yet her new boyfriend Matthew, seems too good to be true, and his family are a nightmare I really didn't like his brother or mother at all.
This is definitely a book that gets darker as it proceeds and has you scratching your head as to just what is going on. We also get flashbacks and glimpses of Lucy's nightmares from the past so you can see just why she is very wary and her reactions in certain situations.
I did guess who may be targeting Lucy, but I had to keep reading to makes sure I was correct! A very enjoyable book that I'm very glad I had the opportunity to read.
Thank you the author for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
I’m one of those readers that appreciate a strong opening chapter, it’s one of the things that determine whether a book is likely to hold my attention. M A Comley did just that with an opening that immediately piqued my curiosity! It’s obvious from the start of this book that Lucy has escaped from an abusive relationship that has left her traumatised. The author slowly reveals shocking snippets that go a long way to explaining why Lucy finds it hard to trust people and prefers to keep them at arm’s length.
When we first meet Lucy life is looking good, she’s made plans to move in with her best friend, and then when she least expects it she meets the man of her dreams, Matthew whose handsome, kind, generous, and well off. Life is looking good for Lucy, but like any good thriller nothing is straightforward and it soon becomes apparent Lucy can run from her past, but she can’t hide from it. As you learn more about Lucy’s past, things take a worrying turn. I found myself becoming more paranoid at each turn of the page. I convinced myself that every character was hiding something, either that or they were an axe murder in heavy disguise! That’s one of the things I love about a well written psychological thriller the author’s ability to make you feel the emotions of the victim, I became paranoid, terrified, and anxious as Lucy’s story progressed.
The author has a way of drawing you into a story that I found compelling, the conversations between Lucy and her best friend Tricia, and boyfriend Matthew make you feel you’re a bystander listening in, being drawn into their story. If I had one small quibble, it’s the lengths of the chapters, they are super long, which isn’t very good when you have a weak bladder and refuse to leave a chapter midway! Thankfully, the author writes in such a way you become so immersed in the plot, each chapter flies by.
A person lurking in the shadows, strange accidents, questionable characters and a dead body ensure the tension never waivers. As Lucy and Matthews relationships deepens alarm bells started ring, was I being misled? Or was there something far more sinister at play? I’m not saying, you will just have to read I Know The Truth to find it! Although I was expecting a twist that never materialised, I really enjoyed this book, it made for a very entertaining read with plenty of suspense and mystery.
I love this author’s crime series’ so was very excited to see she had written a standalone, a psychological thriller at that! Which just happens to be my all time favourite genre.
Lucy is someone who is trying to outrun her past. We get brief glimpses of what her life was like and why she is keeping it to herself but not any actual details. Of course this was sending my mind into over drive at just what she had done.
When bad things start to happen to the people that Lucy cares about, well the whole pace and tension really shot up a few notches. Talk about edge of your seat reading. I couldn’t settle as I was feeling just as much fear as the main character. I liked Lucy’s character and how she stands up for herself against the distasteful glares of Matthew’s family.
I Know The Truth has you second guessing everyone and everything. Even after finishing the book I still felt on edge. The fears and emotions leapt from the pages and washed over me as the author took me on a roller coaster ride that had me clinging on for dear life. I so hope the author writes more standalone’s in this genre as she has done a brilliant job.
My thanks to the author for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.
M.A. Comley, an author of stunning crime thrillers, has tried a new genre of psychological suspense, and it’s a stunner. Lucy has escaped a violent and abusive relationship and spent five years struggling to start a new life. Only her best friend Trisha knows about her secret past. Can Lucy dare to try to find love and happiness again? When she meets rich and handsome Matthew, she drops her defenses and finds herself finally falling in love – but trouble finds her again. She feels followed, and people close to her are murdered. She’s left terrified and not knowing who to trust.
This book is unputdownable. I read it in one sitting, and never guessed the twisted mind who was the murderer. This roller coaster ride will take your breath away and I can’t recommend it enough. Five stars!
I have no idea how it is possible for this author to write one incredible book after another, but this happens every single time, and I Know The Truth is no exception. Exciting suspense that had me guessing throughout the book. Lucy is running away from a violent and unhappy past and only her best friend Trisha knows her secret. When Lucy meets rich and handsome Matthew, she lets her guard down and allows herself to finally fall in love and to be happy again …… will the past catch up on Lucy? This is a new genre for MA Comley and it was a gripping page turner and I sure hope it wont be last last stand alone psychological thriller. A 5* fabulous book that I highly recommend to all.
Lucy has a past, one she has escaped from, one she is determined should remain hidden. She has one close friend, Trish, who knows all. She has secrets she is desperate to keep hidden. To that end, she leads a rather insular life, aided by her lack of money, but she does occasionally go out with Trish and it's on one of those nights out that she meets Matthew who appears instantly smitten with her. They start to date and, as they get to know each other, it appears that she might have met the right man for her. He treats her as a princess. But she's also very wary, understandable given her past that is, initially, only hinted at. But then strange things start to happen. And then comes worse and the stakes get higher. At the same time, her relationship with Matthew steps up a notch but is everything about to blow up in her face? Famous predominantly for her prolific, mostly, police procedural/detective series books, this is an excellent foray into the world of the stand alone psychological thriller. And it's thrills all the way too. And more than enough intrigue to go round as Lucy's past is slowly uncovered and the reasons for her fear come to light. Plotting is tight and expertly executed. Characters are well drawn and all play their parts well. And, and this is very important (to me anyway), there is no superfluous waffle or padding so the story being told gets on with itself very well. The story itself both interested me and intrigued me and I was desperate to try and get one over on the author and get there ahead of the reveals. I didn't. I had the odd inklings, some of which panned out, others (most) bombed! So yeah, not predictable at all. There were enough players in the game acting according to certain possibilities that I was kept on my toes throughout. All in all, a cracking diversion that I thoroughly enjoyed. Although I love all of this author's series, and I'm waiting with baited breath for the next instalment of all of them, I can't help wishing for more of the same as this. Not at all greedy, me!
Wow! What an intense page turner! The book wrapped its pages around me and drew me into its world. The characters were intriguing and their stories fascinating. The writing was absolutely stunning and had me hooked from the start. I enjoyed the snippets of the past that were slowly leaked throughout, giving the insight on to why events were taking place. The plot definitely had me guessing throughout. Absolutely amazing read that you won’t be able to put down.
Can one escape the past? Going per author M. A. Comley’s new book, I wouldn’t say so. The author sure made her main character go through a wringer of situations. Panic was well felt in the Lucy’s life with nightmares holding her hostage.
A new love had Lucy in a dither. Was Michael as good as he seemed to be? His rich family surely didn’t think she was good enough. Soon strange things happened as her wedding date came closer. Who was tormenting her, trying to take away her loved ones?
Having read a few books by this author, I was entrenched in Lucy’s life as I scrolled down my kindle. Hints of the past seeped through. The author kept them well intertwined. The story moved back and forth, showing me the different shades of Lucy’s life. Her best friend Trisha was the most generous of characters ever written. I liked how she supported Lucy so selflessly.
The characters were well slotted in their roles. At one point, I too didn’t know whom Lucy should trust. Things kept mounting around her. The red herrings and lies bundled up in her life. I liked how the author heaped stress on her head, making me long to see how Lucy would deal with it all.
The story was quite predictable. I supposed fear did strange things to people, I too found Lucy taking decisions that I would not. Her dialogues could have been stronger with emotions creating the darker atmosphere which the story needed. Nonetheless, the story showed me what it intended to.
Overall, it kept me engrossed in its pages, I too wanted to Know The Truth
Lucy is hiding a very dark secret past and the only person who knows and she confides in is her best friend, Trisha. She was a victim of domestic abuse and fled. Changing her whole character and name.
She meets and falls in love with Micheal. They are getting married not that Michael's mothers and brother are best pleases. This is when the trouble starts. Murder, assaults etc. Who's is doing what? Who can Lucy trust?
A wonderful, well thought out, thought-provoking emotive plot that will have you on the edge of your seat and thrilled from start to finish.
Characters
Mel has created some fantastic diverse characters in this book.
Throughout the book you see different sides to Lucy, the person she was while under her abuser's power and Present lucy just trying to move on with her life and become happy and free.
Trisha is just a wonderful beautiful heartwarming character, she is the friend we all want. She selfishly gives all her support and love to Lucy at whatever cost. Lucy and Trisha's relationship is just delightful and lovely to read.
Micheal honestly feels like a king in shiny armour and seems too good to be true? Is he or isn't he? He is an interesting character and again it's intriguing to see Michaels and Lucys Relationship grow.
There were plenty of other characters some who are bad and not trustworthy at all. Mel has created some awesome antagonists. And the characters added a whole lot more to this book.
Writing Style/Pacing
Another fast-paced book. Mel is a tremendous writer/author and every genre or book she tries her hand at, they always turn out to be 100% perfect. This is her first psychological thriller, and yet again she accomplished and crushed it. Another genre and book to her vast collection of books.
A book that has a pinch of everything from romance, crime, friendship, lies and deceit etc.
Themes/Settings
This book contains themes of domestic violence, stalking, murder, assault, lies and deceit.
The main theme is domestic abuse, This is shown with flashbacks to Lucys past with her abuser, how she got away, what finally made her click and also shows her making a new free and happy life while having to start over with a new name and new appearances.
These are very very important topics to touch on and Mel did a bloody brilliant job of portraying it in this book.
Cover
A beautiful cover by Emmy Ellis as always.
Overall Thoughts
A wonderful, well thought out, thought-provoking emotive plot that will have you on the edge of your seat and thrilled from start to finish. Mel has created some fantastic diverse characters and awesome antagonists in this book. The characters add a whole lot more to this book. Another fast-paced book. An exciting new book from this talented author. A new way of writing which left my mind reeling at every page. Lucy has had a life full of misery whilst married to her abusive husband. She somehow manages to have a hand in his timely death , escaping his clutches & starting a new life under another name. Her best friend Trisha is the only one that knows about her past and together they keep the secret close. Fast forward 5 years and she meets another man who she falls for and eventually they set a wedding date. But life for Lucy starts to unravel and appears to be spiraling downwards as her past finally catches up with her. Everything is in this book from murders, to car accidents to a stroppy , interfering mother in law. Read this book and prepare yourself for an all nighter, it really is that brilliant !!
Oh my goodness! This had the hair on the back of my neck standing on end as I raced through this psychological thriller. The way this author presents a twisted mind is uncanny. Delightfully devious details of the warped mind made me wonder how she had the insight and what monsters have visited her nightmares.
I know the truth by M.A. Comley. Another brilliant read by mel how she does it I don't know but every book I've read of hers has been brilliant. I love her crime series. This is a standalone psychological read. Brilliant I love Lucy and Trish characters. I didn't like Neil he was creepy. 5*.
Lucy is starting to live a life after 5 years She suddenly likes Matthew and comes to love him She is to be married and she goes to the wedding and the driver takes her away What happens next I had an ARC
This book is a great psychological thriller about a woman, who with help from a friend has managed to keep her past hidden for a few years, then after a rare night out, things slowly start to unravel.
Lucy and Trisha have their first night out in ages in a wine bar for a catch up as they are best friends. As money is tight for Lucy, Trisha suggests that she moves in with her. Lucy meets Matthew and there is an immediate attraction between them although Lucy has her doubts because of her past. They met on Saturday but his brother was along for the ride too. Lucy felt as though Jake was trying to catch her out. She felt uneasy around him. The day improved once he left them. When she got back to Trisha, she let her friend know that some things slipped out. His brother had been inquisitive. Lucy and Matthew continued seeing each other for the next few weeks and things were going great. One morning going to work, Lucy got hit from the car behind several times before leaving the road, the driver wore a ski mask. Luckily she wasn’t hurt too bad.
That Friday at work, a strange man with a limp came in and browsed. On Saturday Lucy worked till lunch then met Matthew, later that afternoon her boss called letting out a shriek, when they arrived at the office, Matthew found her dead! That night was dinner with Matthew’s parents and no doubt Jake too. Matthew proposed and she accepted! His mother wanted to talk dates straight away and Lucy couldn’t wait to get away. Jake was around too. His mother wanted to arrange the wedding and wanted to know details of her past which she wasn’t keen on giving. Jake and his mother were going to be something to worry about, then she felt like she was being followed. She started receiving notes saying, ‘I know the truth’.
Just who is behind all this? Lucy doesn’t haven’t a clue. Then Trisha has an accident…
I loved reading this book and I found it so unputdownable, I read it in one sitting! It seemed to draw me in as soon as I started reading it and I love books like that. I hope the author does more books in this genre, she was great at writing this one.
Lucy has kept her head down, worked hard, relied on her friend Trish and is out for an evening of fun when she meets the first man in five years that she is attracted to. She wonders if she should take a chance on him or remain solitary. Well, one thing leads to another and the two eventually hit it off only to have strange things begin to happen that really throw Lucy for a loop. Her past might be coming back to haunt her but then again…perhaps something or someone in her present is creating the problems for her and her friends that are so very strange and often scary. As each new tidbit about Lucy’s past is revealed the situation becomes clearer but the losses are also mounting until…well…you really should read this book…it is a humdinger!
What I liked: * Lucy: strong enough to eventually do what needed to be done, a good friend with a big and loving heart, suffered much * Trish: I true friend to Lucy, there for her throughout, deserves her own HEA in the future * Matthew: almost a prince charming but also grounded and there for Lucy * The way Lucy’s backstory came out throughout the book * The relationship as it grew between Lucy and Matthew * The friendship between Trish and Lucy * The strength of Lucy and Trish
What I did not like: * The man in Lucy’s past that harmed her so deeply * Being reminded that truly evil people exist in the world and often get away with…abuse and even murder * The way Matthew’s brother and mother acted…on more than one occasion * Wondering what would happen next…for the characters in the story that were part of Lucy’s life and support network
Did I enjoy this book? Yes Would I read more by this author? Yes
Thank you to BOTBS and the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
I've had M.A. Comley on my radar for a while now but she's written so many amazing books that I didn't know where to start. So with her latest novel , I Know the Truth, being a standalone psychological thriller I was very excited to get my hands on a copy.
Lucy is a great main character; she's very careful with money and men so it's quite out of character for her to meet a man on her night out with her best friend, Trisha. There's something about Matthew that just clicks with Lucy, but she's understandably nervous about starting a new relationship. Although I found it a bit odd that Lucy was so trusting of a man she had just met, especially with her history, Matthew puts her at ease and things go swimmingly until she meets his family. If I was Lucy, I would have run a mile if my boyfriend had brought a member of his family on our second date, but Lucy thinks Matthew is worth it. The story is written with so much menace, that I just hoped she was right.
The storyline is very intriguing and held my interest, although it did take me a few chapters to get into the rhythm of the book as the prose is quite heavily conversation based. As the threats and danger increase, Lucy's fairytale turns into a nightmare. Only Trisha knows Lucy's past so my mind was whirring nineteen to the dozen as I tried to work out who was threatening Lucy. It was clearly someone who would go to any lengths to ruin Lucy's life and I had my suspicions who it was, but of course I was wrong!
Fast-paced and fraught with danger, I Know the Truth is a pulse-rocketing psychological thriller. I'm definitely going to be adding more M.A. Comley books to my ever-expanding TBR pile.
I chose to read an ARC and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.
This is a new adventure for Mel. A woman of many books spanning a few series. Mel ventures into the realms of psychological thrillers for the first time. She takes to it like the proverbial duck to water. We meet Lucy, a woman with a past that she is determined to keep hidden. But when she falls in love with Mathew can she deny her past, or more importantly keep it hidden. As the story progresses we discover more of what's hidden and fear for Lucy's future! Will Lucy's past come back to haunt her? You will need to read on to find out and what a read it is! The more I read of Mel's books the more I'm hooked and the more I enjoy them. Fast paced and gripping. The quality of her prose is very good and she never wastes a word. All I can say in summing up is, good ,gripping and top quality from Mel. Well done Ms. Comley and keep them coming.
This is such a good read, I didn’t want to put it down. This author has the talent to write one amazing yet diverse book after another and nail it every time. I have read a lot of books by M.A Comley, I am a huge fan and I honestly don’t know if there is any type she couldn’t write. “I know the truth” this is a psychological thriller, not a genre I’ve really read before but I will be sure to read more after reading this one.
Lucy is running away from something very dark and scary, her life is a lie, will she be found out? Will her life that she’s made come crumbling down around her? Why are bad things happening to people close to her? Is she responsible?
It’s gripping from the very start, the suspense continues to build throughout the book and had me guessing right until the end but I was wrong with these guesses. I didn’t want to finish this book, I just wanted to keep reading and reading about these characters. This book has a bit of everything: suspense, nitty/gritty, crime, scandal and romance. What more could you want? The characters are likeable (well most of them), the way they are portrayed and described helps you to really imagine them and makes them relatable.
Another fantastically, gripping and unputdownable thriller by the brilliant M.A. Comely. She never seizes to amaze and thrill me, with her unstoppable writing and talent. I found it very hard to put down. Lucy has a very deep dark secret, only shared with her best friend Trisha. She's the only one Lucy dare share with. During a night out together, Lucy meets Matthew, who has taken to her very much and fall truly in love. They see each other as much as they can, in between work, and not long after meeting they start to plan their wedding, with a lot of interference from Matthews Mother and brother Jake. Strange and sinister things start to happen............what's happening?..........will it stop.......does the wedding go ahead or not? You really don't want to leave this psychological and gripping read on the shelf. Can highly recommend this stand-alone book.
Lucy has a past that she would rather not think about. A violent husband that she managed to walk away from. We know there are secrets but not what. Five years later and she is about to move in with her best friend and she meets Matthew who blows her away. He treats her right, doesn’t push her but still she is very careful as Patrick was the same when they first met. She then has an accident- only it appears someone caused it deliberately. She has a feeling of being watched at times but puts it down to her nervousness at the whole situation. Matthew has a brother, Jake, who warns Lucy to stay away from Matt. Rather difficult as they are in love and he has just proposed. Whatever is going on and why? I loved this One of those reads that makes you slightly anxious (in a good way) and turning faster and faster to find out what's next. I liked Lucy and Trish, a solid friendship that had stood the test of time and tribulations. A good well thought out and crafted plot with characters that you either took to or maybe were a little suspicious of- the sign of a good read in my book. A highly enjoyable read.
So so good. This is the authors first psychological thriller and I’m hoping she writes many more as this was brilliant. I love how throughout the story I kept trying to guess and didn’t succeed lol My mind was running ahead of my eyes.
Brilliantly written story that I inhaled from start to finish. A purely addictive read.
How does Mel Comley write so many fantastic books at the same standard each time? This latest read is no exception. Lucy has a secret. A big secret. She finally meets the love of her life, Matthew, but then strange things start happening. Why? Has someone found out her secret?
I found this book easy to get lost in. The storyline was creepy as in its close to life. People get into this & want to hide the truth. But how far do you go, is it far enough.
Having read all of M A Comley’s previous books, I was happy to see she had ventured into writing a psychological thriller. Wow am I pleased she did!
This was an excellent read full of diverse characters, secrets and intrigue. It truly had me gripped from the very start and on the edge of my seat throughout. I just could not put it down and finished it in a day.
Lucy and her best friend, Trish are on a night out when Lucy meets Matthew. Matthew seems to have taken an instant shine to Lucy and before long they start dating. However, Lucy has a past that she is desperate for nobody to find out about. As Lucy and Matthew start to plan their wedding, life starts to unravel for Lucy. Matt’s brother, Jake and her future mother in law warn her off Matt. Is Jake causing the things that are happening? As those close to Lucy are murdered, she’s left not knowing who she can turn to or trust.
I loved this stand alone psychological thriller from the author. The characters were well written with some great bad guys! The story had me wrongly guessing who the murderer was throughout and I couldn’t believe the ending! An enjoyable read that I couldn’t put down.
I have been a fan of M. A. Comley's (Mel Comley) work for a few years now. I owe her a debt of gratitude really because following some pretty tough personal problems, Mel's books helped me to fall back in love with reading. I haven't quite caught up with all of her earlier books yet, but whilst trying to keep pace with her new releases, I do try to catch up with her earlier work. Mel's latest book is called 'I Know The Truth' and it was released on 21st June 2020. Mel has done it again and written one hell of a book. I really enjoyed reading 'I Know The Truth' but more about that in a bit. It didn't take me long at all to get into this book. Once again, I was drawn into the story from the very start. For me, 'I Know The Truth' was the definition of an unputdownable, page turner of a read. I literally couldn't bear to be parted from the book for any length of time. I was intrigued as to how the story was going to pan out and I had to keep reading to see if my suspicions were going to be proved to be correct or not. This was one of those books that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout and it certainly kept me guessing. I managed to read the book over the course of a day, which is fantastic for me since I often have the attention span of a gnat and I am easily distracted. 'I Know The Truth' had that much going on that I didn't want to stop reading in case I missed some vital clue or development in the story. Oh. My. Word. Mel has done it again and she has written one hell of a book. For me, the story started with a bang, it hit the ground running and maintained a fast pace throughout. At times, I felt like I was on one hell of a scary and unpredictable rollercoaster ride with more twists and turns than you would find on a 'Snakes & Ladders' board. Mel writes books in several different genres and she hits the jackpot in each genre. In other words, it doesn't matter which genre she writes under, you are guaranteed one hell of a fast paced, tightly plotted, adrenaline rush of a read. In short, I really enjoyed reading 'I Know The Truth' and I would definitely recommend this book to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Mel's work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 4* out of 5*.
So clearly I have been living under a rock over the years and have to be completely honest up front and admit I have not read any book by Mel Comley before this one.
Now before I get voted off the island, no one is more baffled by this than me and I quickly realised while reading this book, that I have definitely been missing out! Please accept my sincerest apologies for this massive mistake on my part Mel!
I Know The Truth is a dark and twisted tale that will have you completely enthralled from beginning to end. Mel doesn’t waste any time kicking things off and hits the ground running, never taking her foot off the accelerator as she takes you on one hell of a wild ride! It is a fast paced read that goes way to quickly and although I did try to savour it and take my time, the need to how it was going to unfold won out! Now to me that is what makes a story great!
Mel has created a great cast of characters that are a diverse bunch. Each plays out their play roles extremely well and will have you second guessing them all and their motives. They have all been perfectly written and just come to life beautifully.
I absolutely loved Mel’s style and she has a real knack for drawing her reader in and making you feel that you are also part of the story. Her writing is so captivating, that I could not tear myself away and read this in one sitting. You have a new fan in me Mel!
I have read that this is Mel’s first psychological thriller, which I found very hard to believe. She just smashes it out of the park! Holy moly, If this is her first go at, I can’t wait to see what she will come up with next! She is definitely going to be a asset to the genre.
I Know The Truth is a fantastic read and what stood out to me straight away with this book and impressed me the most, was how Mel was able to get me instantly hooked from a prologue that is only 1/2 a page in length! Now that is talent right there! A few sentences that promised a thrilling read, which was delivered ten fold. It was a pleasure to read and review I Know The Truth which I highly recommend.
