Whispers of Deception:

Rate this book
Behind every deception lies a deadly truth.
Lady Elaina is everything an 18th century lady shouldn't be--outspoken and independent with a penchant for finding trouble.
When her parents are murdered in the isolated outskirts of Edinburgh, Lady Elaina finds herself thrown into a nightmare situation.

His newly inherited title as the 3rd Earl of Strafford leaves Lord Spencer begging his sister to act with decorum and to leave the investigation to the authorities who claim the deaths to be a robbery gone awry.
Unfortunately, the mysterious notes and packages that begin to arrive tell a more sinister story. Overwhelmed by his duties and the undertakings of their family's numerous financial endeavors, not to mention being a lieutenant in His Majesty's army, leaves William little time to contain his hot-headed reckless sister.

Rife with political tensions and rumors of a Jacobite uprising, Scotland in 1744 is dangerous enough for the locals, let alone a pair of siblings orphaned four months after their arrival. Twenty years in the colonies has not prepared them for the upheaval they now face.
With the help of her lady's maid and two alluring yet complicated men, Lady Elaina opens the door to family secrets better left in the dark.

Can she overcome the heartache her discoveries reveal?

Her quest for justice may cost Lady Elaina her only brother, but worse, uncovering the truth behind the lies may cost the lady her life.

Renée Gallant

Renee Gallant spent the biggest part of her childhood growing up in north Texas, hiding behind bushes or sitting in trees immersed in stories of mystery and adventure and scratching out her own Trixie Belden fan fiction.

But it was only after reaching middle age, having an empty nest, and being bitten by a creepy little eight-legged foe that she thought to pick up pen and paper once more and lose herself in a fictional world where anything was possible.

Unfortunately, no, she did not turn into Spiderman. Nor even The Tick, but instead became an advocate for auto-immune sufferers, a grandmother, and finally a published author. After a twenty-year hiatus where she was all things to all people, Renee Gallant switched her focus back to herself and her first love, words.

So much book between its covers.
I was completely surprised by this book I am so impressed on how good it was I simply had a hard time putting it down. I find historical mystery so refreshing from reading romances set in the same time. I was with the characters every step of the way. I cannot wait for the next book when you read it you will understand! I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
