About the author

Chris Thompson was born in 1973 to Swiss/German and Anglo/Dutch parents. He lives in Nottingham, England.

It was his young daughter's love of horses which first inspired this tale of companionship. When she grew older, the bedtime story could have been forgotten. But he returned to the idea of the girl and the horse and, as he wrote it down, a deeper theme emerged. The simple yarn became a thought-provoking allegory.

We absolutely LOVE this book. Ada and I read it almost everyday. It has such a beautiful message. We love that the character goes on to meet so many creatures, in such of the elusive and wise Great Baboo. Watching as the character learned and explored, seeing where the journey took them, was lovely. We adored the beautiful illustrations. They are vibrant, beautiful and match the beauty of the story. Overall, we absolutely recommend this wonderful story, as a staple read, for your children.
