Whose word can they trust? Mr. Darcy has never encountered a woman like Elizabeth Bennet. Her actions and words are not those he expects of a gentlemen's daughter.
Elizabeth dislikes Mr. Darcy's arrogance and pride. She can't understand why people speak so highly of him when there's evidence he's a fraud.
With troubles on the Pemberley Estates, accusations of wrongdoing are made from all sides, until a near-tragedy forces Darcy and Elizabeth to see each other differently.
But will two people with so much antipathy in their history, ever trust their feelings or each other enough to plan a future together?
Pemberley Strife is a sweet and clean Regency novella of 90,000 words
I have read this story at least 3 times and each time I find something that I had overlooked. The most surprising is the character of Georgiana Darcy. She's a twin and she is always causing trouble with her brother Henry. The more I read the more she sounds as though she has a psychological disorder. Her frequent mood shifts, prone to anger over anything. Her behaviour is definitely out of control, and to state that Lydia Bennet acts more mature is saying something. This takes place around the time of 1816 because of the poor harvest for everyone which happened then. Add hungry, scared tenants, along with a crooked steward and there's massive problems both at Pemberley and surrounding estates. It takes Darcy a while to see and then figure out what the problem is and he obviously doesn't believe Elizabeth Bennet who is visiting her aunt's family.
