Ben Benson worked with the Massachusetts State Police before taking up typewriter to produce a series of mystery novels based on the work of that elite body. Three Captain Paul Manta, Detective-Lieutenant George Carmadan, and Detective-Sergeant Peter Bradford, met for a final briefing. The subject was Belleview, a pleasant, tree-line Massachusetts town on the surface. Underneath, it was rotten and corrupt from the Casbah Club to the local police. Young Bradford went into Belleview and got a job with the organization. He didn't like undercover work, but every trooper puts his all into every assignment. In pursuit of his goal, he found himself washing greasy glasses, sweeping floors, -- and making up to the boss's daughter!
