Rate this book
This book can quickly familiarize readers with the unique demands of grammar, middle, junior high, and high school teaching; it readies them to meet the expectations of parents, principals, and pupils. It addresses recent legislation, current trends in the field, and the growing emphasis on standards, both for teachers and students. Photographs and illustrations capture the reader's attention, and show teaching “as it happens,” in a way that words alone cannot. This book effectively explains the six primary tasks successful educators must accomplish in order to teach connect, organize, model enrich, interact, and consider needs and natures. It contains observation guides, lesson plan forms, assessment vehicles, and classroom management plans. This brief, inexpensive volume is the answer for those who need a quick introduction to teaching in order to prepare for certification or alternative certification.

Not as helpful as I would have liked. Some good points but not detailed on how to implement techniques.

Used this text to teach my Intro to 21st Century Teaching course this fall. You know a text about teaching is pretty good when you can read it as an experienced teacher, and be like, "Oh yeah, that's a really important point to articulate...I have totally assumed that pre-service teachers knew that already, and they didn't."
