A Handbook of Medical Astrology

Rate this book
Today, more than ever, people are becoming aware trgat their health depends on a harmonious integration with the world: a joyful balance between mind, body and spirit. When this is achieved we are in a state of well-being, but an imbalance results in illness.

Medical astrology uses the birthchart to examine the strengths and weaknesses of the individual in these three aspects of their being and is therefore a very valuable aid to diagnosis in both traditional and holistic terms. The use of the horoscope as a means of assessing and improving health is a flourishing area of astrology; this wide-ranging book brings together the work of some of the major authorities and updates the subject.

Jane Ridder-Patrick stresses that medical astrology is an ideal means of encouraging the individual to take responsibility for hsi or her own health and this knowledgeable book demonstrates one of the ways in which this can successfully be done.

Fantastic and invaluable reference for medical astrology. As another reviewer noted, you need to have a pretty solid understanding of astrology in general in order to make use of this book--it is not for a beginner. Ridder-Patrick covers not only the breakdown of interpreting a natal chart for medical purposes, but also concepts like holistic health, bedside manner, and materia medica. Highly recommended as a reference for those interested in the concept or astrologers who are looking to expand into the medical/holistic realm.

The book explains how the movements of planets and celestial bodies affect a person’s health based on their natal chart. It describes how disturbed energies are formed (the origins of disease) and offers therapeutic ways to harmonise and balance these energies based on their personal chart.

The book also helps readers understand themselves more deeply.

I enjoyed reading it very much and highly recommend it!
However, a background and basic understanding of astrology is needed beforehand.

For me this will become a reference book but first I will have to read it a couple of more times.
More importantly this is a book to be read with a sound background in astrology. So my 4 stars review is due to my ignorance of the subject more than the book in its integrity.
It is small and concentrated, making reference to other medical astrologers throughout history and the techniques used. There is a lot of detail but alas, these details will only be savoured when my astrology studies will have tremendously improved.
