Here we have a timely, well-written book of comfort and advice during one of the more pressing and disruptive times in history. The pandemic, coupled with a world-wide associated economic meltdown, has all of us on edge. We live day to day in an undercurrent of fear, and these two authors provide a helping hand and valuable resources we can all use to navigate through these treacherous waters. They cover the perception of loss, and its reality; self-care admonitions (If I don't do it, who will?"), our predilection toward either 'faith camp' or 'fear camp,' and the novel concept of Pre Traumatic Stress Disorder (Pre-TS). There are also numerous important resources listed for various eventualities, such sites as ready.gov which has an abundance of help for whatever might be needed.
The main focus of the book is on what we control, and what not, and telling the difference between the two. The useful acronyms NIMBI, and IMBI enter here, Not In My Best Interest, and its opposite are two critical questions we can ask ourselves prior to embarking on any new endeavor. In these parlous times, it's clearly IMBI to read this book. It's in yours, too. 7 Keys to Navigating a Crisis: A Practical Guide to Emotionally Dealing with Pandemics & Other Disasters
