This was a fun read. It is most definitely full of tongue twisters that would trip me up, but the lines rhyme and Shirley sells shoes, and it's just a lot of fun. The pages almost remind me of Where's Waldo. There is so much happening on each page that even if you didn't read a single word on the page you would still probably end up giggling. The animals are comical, the characters are all different and inviting, and the colors are bright and plentiful. It's a silly book that I think students would love hearing read aloud or try to read aloud themselves. It also shares a message, that everyone has a place in the world where they belong, and sometimes, finding that place takes time. Super fun to read, I see myself using this in the future.
Summary: This book is about a woman named Shirley who owns a shoe store. She shines and repairs shoes of everyone in the whole town. Connections: Feeling responsible for so much. How you would use it: I would use this as a read aloud in a sing songy/ rhyming way to talk about different jobs that people have in our community Subject heading: Shoes--Fiction. Stories in rhyme.
This is a great example of rhythmical poetry in children's books. The colors are vibrant and stand out on the page. The only thing that I do not like about this book is that some of the characters look angry when in reality they are all happy.

I liked the sing song rhymes that this book had. It was very light hearted but also in my opinion held a good message. Everyone has shoes and those shoes all hold their own stories, that tell the stories of those that wear them. The colorful illustrations make the story bright and bold.
Shoeshine Shirley is an uplifting and inspiring hardcover book about a young girl who takes pride in her shoeshine business, showing resilience, confidence, and entrepreneurial spirit. This would be a great book to have in the classroom to inspire readers in many ways.
Quaint story about a women who shines shoes and is always has customers, she knows about everyone's shoes and even knows the perfect ones for a child in the end. Poetic book for children and the illustrations were a bit unnerving to me, but cute read.
