Eddie is a mischievous Jack Russell Terrier dog who has special superhero powers in the canine world. He spends his days protecting his family and socialising with his canine friends. Every day is a new escapade for him and everyone who meets him falls in love with his puppy like character. He teaches us how to respect, tolerate, forgive and love one another no matter what. Each chapter has a moral ending. Both dog lovers and children will love Eddie's cheeky character and his adventures.
I am Jayne Norman and I am a fiction author based in Lincolnshire in the UK. My day job was a Teacher/Trainer of IT & Computing up until March 2020. I now work part-time for the NHS in Administration. I decided to leave teaching to free up time to focus on my writing.
In 2013, a cheeky Jack Russell Terrier puppy, called Eddie chose me as his forever parent. He has been my constant companion ever since. We provide each other with unconditional love and Eddie has been by my side through all my ups and downs.
In 2015, I decided to write a daily blog about Eddie's Adventures. This blog has been a great success, gaining almost 6,000 followers, across Facebook and Instagram, at the time of writing this. A few fans suggested that I turn the blog into a book. At first, I thought they were just being very kind. Then, a few more followers and family members suggested the same thing. I published my first book 'The Adventures of Eddie Lightning: Six Sides to Eddie Lightning and Seven Days in the Life of a Superhero' on 3rd March 2020, in time for World Book Day. My books are written from Eddie's perspective and in 'dog speak', to make it fun, humorous and light-hearted. The first book is aimed at dog lovers of all ages from around 8 years old upwards. The book is also suitable for adults to read to younger children. It focusses on getting to know Eddie's funny character, along with his likes and dislikes. I completed and published my second book in the series, called 'Shenanigans in the Snow'. This was released on 15th February 2021, again in time for World Book Day. This book is aimed at 2-5 year olds and dog lovers of any age. My third book in the series 'Antics at Agility' is now available. This book was published on 12th April 2021 and is aimed at 2-5 year olds and dog lovers of any age. Eddie Lightning wears a different superhero mask for each adventure that he goes on. His masks help him to find the canine superpowers he needs to survive each escapade. I write my books under a pen name. I have used a pen name for social media for many years, due to wanting to remain anonymous to the students I taught. I chose Jayne, as this is my middle name, and when I was a child I loved to say my middle name was 'Jayne', with a 'Y'. I chose Norman, as this is my late father's first name, who passed away years before I began writing. I miss him so much and hope that he is looking down on me with pride. I am a member of the Lincolnshire Authors Association and I feel proud to include their logo in my promotional material. I would appreciate networking with other authors, editors, publishers and reviewers from around the world and would greatly appreciate any reviews of my books. I am currently writing my fourth and fifth books ‘Laughter in the Lake’ and 'Bath Time Bonanza', so watch this space!
A lovely children’s book, with a mischievous Jack Russell Terrier dog as a main character. I loved how the dog had special superhero powers, engaging in all sorts of adventures. My daughter fell in love with the story, and I appreciated the educational value of the book. You will love Eddie Lightning, as he is always up to something. This is a perfect book for those who love dogs; aside from the adventures of Eddie, which are highly entertaining, children can learn important lessons on being respectful, tolerant and empathic with others. The fact that the story is told from the dog’s perspective is a big plus, adding to the delight of his wonderful adventures. Eddie is a lovable character, and I applaud the author for giving him a bubbly personality. We had fun reading this book, which delivers lots of laughs. I have a feeling that these dogs are full of silly antics in real life as well, and I found this to be a wonderfully-written book. In the end, kids remember Eddie as the pup who brought joy, fun, and laughter. We loved this book from beginning to end! Eddie is no ordinary dog, and his adventures were so fun to read. I loved that he had many friends to get into mischief with, and my daughter could not wait to see what would happen next. She loved seeing him chase ducks, but I also think she learned about the meaning of real friendship. Great read!
This is a fun, non-fiction book written from Eddie’s point of view. Eddie is a Jack Russell and full of energy. Each chapter shows Eddie’s world or a day-in-the-life of Eddie. I liked meeting his other doggie friends, learning about how many miles he gets running around every day from his FitBark, how he can spell, and tell time. I think this book is fun for any age, especially dog lovers. I could envision reading this with my sons when they were in elementary school. Jayne is a witty writer and had me LOL each time Eddie BOL (bark out loud). She incorporated clever words like dogtor, pawrents, and pawesome that give Eddie a unique voice that is so suitable for his personality. Overall, cute book about the love and loyalty of a dog.
This was an amusing tale of the adventures of a talented and energetic Jack Russell, sprinkled with cute word play, emojis and some sweet illustrations. Seen through the dog's eyes, there's some playful mischief-making, bonding with other dogs, and some laudable moral messages.
🐾 Such a cute story of Eddie Lightning, a Jack Russell Terrier. This doggo is super intelligent, funny, mischievous and what not. He's 7 years old but seem to be fun to play around.
🐾 He is not a regular next door dog. This one is fun loving and a dog who has his different routine through the days of the week. He is always upto some activities which might include running through the woods, leaping through the fields, struggling to run with big sticks in his mouth, playing in the fountain, all this is our own Eddie always upto some or the other tasks. But among these activities his personal favourite is to chase the ducks which always keep him active.
🐾 Eddie has many friends Archie, Tia, Oliver and Layla with whom he is always doing some sort of mischief. He had a lot of friends who shifted to some other places. Moreover, he's so intelligent that with time, he has understood the schedule and at what time, he has to do certain actions so that his masters (mummy and daddy) comes to know what he wants. He also knows alot about his guardians, their timings to do different tasks. Among all this fun, he also has a had some dark chocolate once which are not good for his health but at the end of the day, Eddie has his mother who is always taking care for him.
🐾 The author also writes about the meaning of real friendships, social media and more of important lessons, everyone should know. The book is super fun and entertaining to read. For kids as well as adults, it's a very good read.
🐾 The author has brilliantly shown the character of a dog, the most loyal animal on this planet, a very cute story to go through which will keep you positive.
