Brookelyn wrote her first short story when she was a sophomore in high school. Back then she discovered how using her experience as a teen living in Brooklyn to create romantic shorts was just as exciting to her as retail shopping and going on dates. After starting her first semester of college two years later, Brookelyn’s creative writing became more of a hobby and something to do to escape the stress of midterms and finals. Now in her 30s as a freelance writer, penning short stories and novellas is her everything. While her experience with writing has evolved for the better, her undying love for creating fiction remains unchanged. Brookelyn's focus is on creating contemporary women's fiction with characters based in urban settings. Her stories chronicles the emotional journeys and erotic experiences of women today through her characters and the scenarios they're thrown into.
The motivation behind her brand of writing has a lot to do with what she discovered storytelling provided for her - an escape. Her goal with her work is to create characters and urban worlds that offer a great escape for fiction readers looking for a break from the daily grind of adulting and who prefer to relax with good books and short stories. When she’s not freelancing, doing yoga, or showing her husband and toddler lots of love, she can be found sitting at her computer desk, with her legs folded, and a cup of coffee (or a glass of wine) at arm’s reach as she types or edits her latest short or novella.
Imagine being notified that your husband has been in a terrible car accident and is now comatose. Not only that, but your best friend was also in his passenger seat and was killed on impact. Uhhh…. Record scratch!! 👀 What the hell are they doing together? They barely speak when we go our couple retreats. Somebody got some splaining to do. 😤 Ohhh, but here is the real kicker, your husband has been having an affair with your bestie, long before you two even married. What the hell? 🤬 Poor Genesis is devastated, angry, and sad while looking for the when’s, how’s and why’s. But unfortunately, there will never be resolution to those questions as both are now deceased! Whew! 😥
August and Genesis married best friends, and were very close, taking vacations together and hanging out frequently. The foursome met in high school and although Genesis was initially attracted to August, he pursued her friend, so she took her L gracefully becoming his good friend.
August and Tai (Genesis’ husband) were best friends. This revelation tore him up, my wife 🐱👤! 😡His anger, feelings of betrayal, and knowing he married the wrong woman, made it easy for August to move on. With the help of therapy, he is whole and ready to explore the rest of his life.
On a particularly vulnerable night, Genesis makes a move on August, as she just needs to feel something other than pain. However this move unlocks something deep within them both, and they know nothing will ever be the same again. I understood Genesis’ hesitancy, as she still loved her husband, even knowing all that he had done. However, the love brewing between her, and August was potent, and he loved her in ways that she had never experienced before. I was ready to bop Genesis in her forehead, trying to give this man away; but she also was encouraged and supported by her therapist to heal and move on.
This coupling may be controversial for some, but for me, it was a beautiful example of love after loss. These two should have been together in the first damn place! Just sayin' 🤷🏾♀️ Great job Brookelyn! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
It was nice to go on the journey with August and Genesis in this one. When we first meet these characters they are both dealing with the death of their spouses who were also cheating on them with each other. Dealing with this revelation and the grief of the loss has brought these friends together on a whole different level and feelings which were never acted on are before out of respect for their spouses while they were living are brought to life.
Brookelyn Mosley did a great job at showing how grief is dealt with in different ways and what happens when you have the opportunity to relive the past in a way to rewrite your future. This was an unconventional love story that I really enjoyed reading which is why I gave it 5 stars and there is plenty of spice.
After a heavy storm, there's always a rainbow. August and Genesis was dealt a blow by two people that they really loved not knowing what was going on behind their backs. What do you do when you're really in love with your bestfriend's spouse but you can't act on those feelings?? What do you do when your bestfriend betrays your trust and sleep with your spouse for years when you didn't act on your feelings for their spouse?? What do you do with those feelings for your bestfriend's spouse when your spouse and bestfriend have passed away?? Well, all those questions and more are answered with these pages of Meant To Be(FBS3)
The way August and Genesis came together was not only surprising, but also a bit controversial depending on your views on their background prior to connecting. But that being said, It worked for me. And not only that, it made perfect sense! In the end they deserved their happily ever after, and not only that, they were destined from the start, which was the biggest surprise of all! Brookelyn Mosley is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors as I make my way through her catalog. I especially love how most of her characters seems to be linked, and can turn up later in cameos! Who doesn't love a good couple update?
Two couples, one betrayal and everybody's world is changed. I was rooting for August and Genesis until she couldn't let her husband go. Friends to lovers is alwaysa tricky situation, but her worrying about what other people think instead of following her heart just irritated me. It was like she didn't want to move on and be happy. I was definitely team August. Overall not a lot of unnecessary drama and the chemistry between them was of the charts, part of why I was irritated that she wouldn't go all in.
I’m glad these two ended up together. They were definitely meant to be together. I had to remind myself to give Genesis grace because she was really frustrating me with her loyalty to someone who wasn’t loyal to her. However, when you’re a loyal person, it’s not something that you can turn off and on at will. August was super sweet. I love him for her. I would love to get an update on them later on.
I loved everything about their love journey. I’m happy that August was open and honest with Gigi, he knew what his heart wanted and he was willing to wait. I loved that Gigi was vulnerable and hurt but was willing to get the counseling she needed and the love from August she deserved. Click buy and be happy!
I can't imagine not getting to confront the people who hurt me the worst, but maybe that was for the best because it forced them to move on on their healing process. I definitely support August's thought process of screw Jazmine and Tai cause karma got them good. Would love to see at least a novella of them having babies.
Wow. Beautiful story that highlights the importance of friendship, healing, and forgiveness. August and Genesis were both dealt a terrible hand by fate and then learning of a terrible betrayal. I laughed and cried reading this story - great read!
It as so sweet...it must have been hard finding out about their other halves the way they did. Then not being able to confront them but at the end of the day what’s meant to be will be
This was a solid novella . August and Gigi faced some serious shock. I didn't really understand August impatience but I loved his love. He had way more time to adjust and less things to adjust too. I'm glad Gigi got there in her own time.
This was a great and unpredictable read. I love how the author made the characters responses to grief and betrayal unique to their personalities and they each processed in their own way. Definitely a great read.
