T. A. resides in Detroit, Michigan with her five children, and the rest of her dysfunctional family, where she was born and raised. She started her writing career in the midst of a very hard time in her life and is now a best-selling author. Her debut and award-winning novel, Witch Wars, and the world of Underlayes, was born from a mind that desperately needed an escape, so she created one.

The novel was inspired by her love of all things paranormal and how she wanted it seen. “We live in a diverse world, shouldn’t all of the characters in books, even paranormal also be diverse,” she says. “I saw so few paranormal books with a diverse cast until I read L. A. Banks. You know, with more than one or two diverse characters thrown in for good measure. Mine have it all, too.”

A mother of five beautiful children, but by far more than just that. T. A. Moorman is an artist, a violinist, a seamstress, a crafter, a writer, a blogger, a reviewer, a dark confidant and a darkly dangerous, fiercely protective friend.

This is a short Story of the Underlayes omnibus, which I have waiting for me to read. This story can be read as a stand alone but as always, it's better to read in order. This book was so good!! It has a little bit of everything when it comes to paranormal creatures. This is the first story of T.A Moorman's that I have read and it was a unputdownable book. ( not sure if it's a word). So that means the omnibus is going to be the same "unputdownable". So I really cannot wait to read it.

I got a copy of the book and is voluntarily leaving a review

“In My Dreams”
Written by: T.A. Moorman
From the cover of this book, you can see the author is trying to grab your attention with the sexual image it's featuring. Showing off to you that there will be a steamy romance and a bit of magic. I will admit I love the cover of this book, although sadly enough I do not believe it tells a good introduction to the story. I rate this book a two out of ten. I rate it this way because I feel like there is a huge piece of the book missing, the entire middle. This truly saddens me, because I can see the true potential in this story and the characters the author has created. I read this book within an hour, I am an incredibly fast reader but even for me being able to read and comprehend the entire book in an hour showed me it was not long enough. If a story isn’t long enough, generally it's missing a key element.
I began reading this book and was extremely excited over the first chapter. I got comfy and ready to dig into the story wanting more. As I turned the paged I was reluctant to continue as I felt I might have missed something. Maybe it didn’t download correctly, or maybe it was missing chapters. I re-downloaded the entire book, and to my dismay, it was the same. I checked to make sure the chapters went from 1 and on in order and again I was displeased to learn they did and were all there. Now, these are all common and easy to write and mistake these types of errors, but they’re also easily and effortlessly fixable errors that I discovered on my first pass over of the book. Needless to say, I believe If I’m able to spot them with such ease, other reads will be able to as well. Any literary editor should effortlessly be able to make the alterations without harming the text/story. Lastly, the biggest and most unappealing literary “error” I’ve encountered with an author and their book was when I’d read as normal the “Prologue” up to “Chapter 6” and realized that the entirety of text in the “Prologue,” and the text in “Chapter 6” are verbatim, word for word identical. Maybe this is something some writers do, but out of the hundreds of books I’ve read, I have never encountered an entire chapter being the same as the entire Prologue. A “Prologue” by definition is Something that comes before an introduction to a book or play, or maybe an action or situation that leads to something else. I’ve read thousands of books over many years, and have never once encountered reading the same text within the book twice. I’ve done some research on my own, and have verified my theory on this matter and have concluded this is not something that’s done often or intentionally. Again, I was led to think there could have possibly been a mistake in the edition I was sent to read? I’ve reached out and haven’t heard back thus far, but will keep you updated if it was simply an error and I received the wrong version of this book. At this point I don’t believe that is the case, I simply believe that the “Prologue” was repeated intentionally, which utterly baffles me. I found that this was very frustrating, especially since the book was incredibly short and lacking the juice (middle,) of the story to begin with.
Once I completed this book, I jotted down my thoughts and notes about it. I choose to immediately write my opinion down after finishing a book to know my newly finished and fresh opinion. I waited two days after completing this book and was able to ponder on it a bit, being able to see if I still hold the same feeling towards to story and the book as a whole. Sadly enough, I still have the identical opinion as to when I’d finished. I’m extremely displeased, nay displeased with this book. Please don’t get me wrong, I’ll explain why.
The storyline and character were incredibly intriguing at first and exceedingly well written, but the story as a whole was just simply lacking the juice I seek for within every book and or series. I truly wish there had been more of an actual story being told, verses simply an opening where we meet the main characters, a short introduction to secondary characters proceeding immediately into a crisis, and then instantaneously into the ending. This book lacked the main interesting key elements that I look forward to when reading. The pleasure all readers feel that wanting and needing to frequently turn the page to find out and discover what the characters will encounter next. How they’ll handle a situation, will any of them or all of them get through it? What’s coming next, what does the next chapter entail? You start to try and piece together what you hope will happen, you try and figure out what they’ll do next, where they’ll go, who they’ll meet? As a reader, these key points matter the most, the middle of the book so to speak. Where the stories and the character seamlessly begin to come alive within your imagination. The simple fact that within less than a chapter the biggest and most exciting piece of the story was not only explained but then immediately preceding it was solved and over. This left me feeling as if the book omitted its entire core story. As I explained in the beginning, I truly had to check to make sure It wasn’t an electronical error, or maybe the entirety of the book didn’t completely download correctly. I checked, twice. It had downloaded correctly, and I was stunned.
I know I’m being critical which I know a lot of the Author's fans will not appreciate, this is my honest opinion as well and factual information about the book. I am being hard on this book, and the author because with what the book had, I see the greatness that the author can achieve. I’ve read over the book twice, and although its lacking key elements and contains literary & grammatical errors, I truly see the utmost potential in this author. I intend to read another book from them and compare. I will say that I was intrigued too, in the beginning, I was intrigued enough to want to read more. Over course of the first two chapters, I was itching to know and read more about the characters. I divulged into the story laid out, as well as the characters.
“Rena,” and “Ricardo,” our two leading characters held all the right literary elements that generally spike my interest, and intrigue me. The characters were formally described to me enough where I could visualize them, but while also leaving a bit up to my imagination. The author described detailed elements of these main characters' personalities and key traits, which helped me perceive the characters the way I was presumably intended too. The author also added in secondary characters and gave concrete information about them, without enveloping the storyline too much around them and taking away from the stories of our main characters. I truly am a fan of this author's literary skills and talents and see the exponential potential within them. I just don’t think this book was quite it. I believe without a doubt that this author is capable of great literary success, and will only write stronger and more in-depth literature going forward. Sometimes there is that one book that an author doesn’t express their thoughts and storylines as well as the others they’ve written or will be written proceeding. With that being said, I am quite looking forward to reading another piece of this author's work, and I acknowledge that although this is not my favorite piece of literature, it has an incredible amount of potential!
I need to also address that this is a rather steamy, sexy, romantic story/book as well. The author is exquisitely superb at expressing their portrayals of the main characters, inside the bedroom and dare I also say the shower? I was truly focused on, reading, and fantasizing as the author's words became images in my head. The imagination it took the author, the thought out and strung together words in each sentence, the libidinous verbs they used, along with precise phrases, had me at the edge of my seat reading to tip over. While I was reading these steamy passages, I realized that I was truly enjoying reading the book. None the less, they came and went quicker then I’d have preferred. Each passage roughly lasting half a page (read on an iPad screen,) and up to only one full page (read on an iPad screen,) in length. In my experience, and also further researching this, these types of “scenes” are typically generously longer in other pieces of literature I’ve read. Being fair I judge this based on literature within the same genre, as well as having similarities in story type & the character description. (Also adding in magic, and magical communities.) Although the author didn’t include many of these scenes, there was a sufficient enough amount to suffice my voluptuary wants and needs within a book of this length. I note this statement is for this book in particular, as I felt it was already lacking pieces of the necessary information about the characters, and the stories the author was trying to tell us. These small bits and pieces of sexual fantasies through the eyes of the author did, however, keep me entertained long enough to finish the book. Please, review and remember as I reiterate that; I am extremely thankful for the authors' vocabulary skills, there intense imagination that shines through in their writing, as well as their undeniable, untapped, raw and natural talent & true potential. I am thankful that the author reminded me that they’re very talented, in my eyes, they simply fell a bit short in several areas within this particular book.
I’ve expressed my opinions of their talent of imagination and being able to write where readers can perceive and imagine their words coming to life. Lastly, I’d like to address the author's literary skills overall, the more technical literary side of writing. I was astonished, and simply quite charmed with the authors' integration and use of the original “Gods.” I was so enthralled after seeing foreign “Gods” Titles (names,) that it beguiled me into doing my research regarding the origins of the “God’s,” that the author mentioned. Throughout the book, there were also a select couple of words I was either unaware of their definitions or had been pleasantly surprised to read them being used within this book. Vocabulary unbeknownst to me is something that infatuates me when an author is capable of and not only using their knowledge and literary skills and stumping me but also applying it correctly where I’m able to understand it’s meaning without researching its true definition. I however for my growth and knowledge always stop, and research the definition of the unknown word. This leads me to become further educated while reading and learning a new word. There are also times when this author used a word and I know the definition/meaning of a said word(s), however, I am not surprised, but I am in awe of the words intergrading into the book flawlessly and fluidly. While reminding me and re-teaching me of a word that I might have not seen read in some time. I was quite impressed by the author's vocabulary and their abundancy of verbs. I’ve read countless other books quite like this one, where although they were longer and had more of a solid storyline, the author was simply incomparable and unable to express himself/herself the same as this author. Abundantly clear they were suffering due to their vocabulary range and skills. To show you this authors skill here are some examples of words used that I either didn’t know the meaning too prior or knew but was captivated to see used:
“Folly”: which is an act of foolishness. Next, the word
“Necromancers”: (Necromancy) someone occult and with religious beliefs, divination utilizing communication with the spirits of deceased persons; black magic; sorcery; (someone who believes they can perform magic, or speak with the deceased.)
Lastly, the word I was most impressed by, was a word I’d already known the meaning of but hadn’t seen it used within any form of literature for some time. The word is:
“Chemise”: a woman’s undergarment somewhat like a loose, short slip (example: a sheer nightgown.) After showing you a small selection of the more advanced vocabulary used with-in this book, you can acknowledge that the author is quite bewitching. In the book the line on Pg. 635 reads: “It wasn’t until I flashed my not so happy or lucky ass outside that I remembered I had on nothing but that dam black chemise.” How wonderfully captivating! Inspiring, and again reminds us to see the small details of an author’s work.
To wrap up, I’ve now read this book in its entirety twice. I’ve written down and recapped my notes about the book and its story, the grammatical errors, and the overall composition of the book. Mostly I pondered the big question, am I likely to suggest this book to others? I truthfully would love to say yes, but unfortunately, I have to swing towards not being able to recommend this book to others. I wouldn’t genuinely acknowledge this book or suggest it to other readers. Mainly due to its lack of an intriguing and thought out storyline (entire middle is missing,) the reuse of the “Prologue,” which is copied verbatim to be also “Chapter 6.” However! I would love to suggest that this author be given a second chance, as it's only fair to do so, and not rate her entire life's work of one book. Even I will be going ahead and giving the author a second chance at literary redemption, while I read another one of their books, in the upcoming future.
I cannot express enough how stupefied I am after reading this book, and how it saddens me to express that to you. I’m still a bit puzzled about the entire middle of the book simply stating that it feels as though it's missing, or was torn out like an old High School Health book. This book had a great plot, a sexy and sweet beginning, but oddly enough a completely missing middle, which regretfully ended us with an abruptly quick ending. There was not much of a storyline to go off of, however, I did fall in love with the main character's love. But, I got lost and was constantly until the very last page still wondering what had happened to their stories, their lives, their ups and downs, the INBETWEEN? Even though I know now that I didn’t, I still keep wondering if I’d simply jus

I re-downloaded the entire book, and to my dismay, it was the same. I checked to make sure the chapters went from 1 and on in order and again I was displeased to learn they did and were all there.
I proceeded to read the rest of the book, during which I found a couple of grammatical mistakes including Pg. 173 “If felt crazed, erratic.” Instead of “It.” Page 470: “At first all I felt was a gentle pull from Kenya stood by the top of my head right where my soul Shakra was.” This sentence does not make sense. The last example is located on Page 589: “It wasn’t until I was down on all four down on all fours with my palms planted firmly on the floor that I realized a few things.” Here you can see the author has repeated the words “down on all fours” twice. Lastly Page 571: The sentence reads: “Killing him could have very we killed her.” Whereas it should have been written, “Killing him could have very well killed her.”
Now, these are all common and easy to write and mistake these types of errors, but they’re also easily and effortlessly fixable errors that I discovered on my first pass over of the book. Even though I know now that I didn’t, I still keep wondering if I’d simply just missed something. While reading I was hoping that on the next page or in the next chapter the author was going to revisit the middle piece of the storyline. That was a pipe dream that never comes true.
Generally, I’m not this rough around the edges when it comes to my thoughts and opinions on books. I’m critical and honest always, but there is always something I can find within a book that I truly adore and admire the writer for. I believe I’m being tougher on my assessment of this book and its author truly because I see their incredibly insane literary potential. I want to think that it’s entirely possible, that this particular author has written multiple other spectacular books, has received rave reviews associated with their prior literary works. (They're prior written and released books.)
This is the first book I’ve read from this author, so I’m basing my opinion solely on this book and its contents alone. Reiterating: I will, however, be reading a different title from this author and reviewing it for myself. To see if this was simply one book that wasn’t up to my standards, or of if this author is lacking something I look for and honestly need to have when reading a book. There aren’t many authors out there who write in the genres of “Fantasy,” “Erotic Fantasy,” “Erotic,” or even simply “Contemporary Fantasy.” (Including others alike in genres.) that I don’t like to read or have ever stated I “hate” there work. There is absolutely a handful of authors that are not particularly my taste, but that doesn’t mean the book was awful or uninteresting to others. Simply put, I am rather disappointed. I love this genre of books, and this is truly the first in a very long run/time that I have to say I would not recommend you taking the time to read this book. It did only take me an hour to read, but there are is an over-abundance of books to read immediately at your disposal. I honestly would not waste my time reading this specific book.
I love that the author is suave with their wording, and made their fantasy come alive in my head with their knowledge of vocabulary and their intense description and use of verbs.
I hope this author is proceeding with other literary endeavors, takes note of her following feedback to whether it's critical or not, and I absolutely am looking forward to reading a different book from this author and comparing it. To the author, I’m truly and genuinely sorry for the review, but I will always be honest. I hope you as well as any other readers prospecting book to read, take my opinion with a grain of salt. We all have our own opinions, try and focus on the facts of my review, and come to your conclusion if you should or shouldn’t read this book yourself. Chow Bella’s!

In My Dreams is the third volume installment of T.A. Moorman's Underlayes series. This short fast-paced story drops readers into an already pre-established world and whisks you forward with a storyline about the past and the present colliding.

In My Dreams is the third book in the Underlayes series and can be read as a stand-alone, though I do encourage readers to read the previous connecting books as there are a couple instances of where I didn't fully know what was going on. I recommend that you buckle up because this book flies by fast.

The author drops readers into a bedroom with two characters, one whom readers will quickly figure out is a female. She is having nightmares, but they are more than just that but she doesn't remember. But it won't be long before the truth and reality come to light with a chance encounter when she goes out with friends.

This book was fun to read, with a couple of shocking scenes (club scene and acid rain) and you get a steamy scene near the beginning that gets repeated in the middle of the book. The author gives readers a bit of backstory with Rena and how she came to be a vampire, but I would have loved more depth. You get a clue that Rena's mate, Ricardo, knows that something is going on since at the end of the shower scene the author writes in that she feels a prick in her hip and then all goes black. With that little tidbit in my mind, my eyebrows shot up. I began to question...what really happened in the past? Was Rena actually snatched and then Ricardo just happened to find her? Well...just wait for it.

I personally could have used more plot building. I feel like a huge chunk of it is missing with this book. Where is the build-up? Where is the drama? Things for me feel rushed. I mean...shouldn't Rena have been asking Ricardo about the prick that she felt? I'm disappointed that there weren't more questioned asked or that the author chooses to exclude that from the story. I felt that these missing pieces would have helped to flesh out the story and make it more fulfilling than it is.

As is, while this book is a quick read and enjoyable on its face, it feels unfulfilling for me so I am rating it 3.5 out of 5 stars. The club scene left me confused initially as to the gender of the character speaking, and then some scenes sped by too quickly, not giving me enough and I didn't understand the repeating of an entire chapter. I will say this if you enjoy paranormal romance and quick reads then this book is a good fit for you.

This book is part of a series, with a set of developed characters, but I'm not sure it would have made a difference if I started back at book 1 - this book does a good enough job catching you up on the relationships as they come up so it can work as standalone.

Rena is a woman who lost her memory when she became a vampire. Her mate, Ricardo, is the vampire that saved her by turning her into a vampire. There's a layer of other universes built in, but really just adds more locations for them to travel to. There's lots of paranormals in the mix, lots of friends to support Rena as she struggles with some haunting dreams. The plot gets a little muddled and I was concerned I was rooting for the wrong people (did Ricardo kidnap her from this warlock dude? Am I in the wrong here for enjoying their smutty scenes at all?), but we eventually get most of this worked out.

I admit to being a little confused while reading this because a large amount of text was repeated from the prologue about halfway through. Maybe it will get resolved in the future releases. I was so conflicted throughout that I didn't find myself enjoying Ricardo and Rena's relationship. For a short read, it was an interesting introduction to this world. I wish I enjoyed the romantic elements more, but this book could use 1 or 2 more chapters to satisfy me fully.

This is a short story, that is part of an established world, but it wasn’t too hard to keep up with it and the author does a pretty good job catching a reader up who hasn’t read the other books. Reina, a newly turned vampire, is haunted by vivid dreams, unknown to her that they are caused by a warlock. I can’t give away too many clues as the story is shorter, but you will start out wondering if Reina was kidnapped, as she has some memory loss from before she was turned.

I didn’t connect very well with Reina and Ricardo as a couple, although I did gravitate toward Reina more than Ricardo – a character that seemed pretty flat to me and one dimensional. I think I would have liked to see this as a bit longer, so I could connect better with this couple and the world.

This is my first book by this author, and I must say, I enjoyed Reina and Ricardo's story. The romance between the two vampires was adorable. I do wish there was a bit more of their story, but perhaps reading the other books in the series will give us more even if they aren't the main characters. As a short story though, this book was very entertaining.

Chapter 6 is a repeat of the prologue, big editing screw up. Words left out or duplicated. It was an okay story because it was only 64 pages so the author couldn't really tell the story to give you a full accounting of it all. Also with the missing words and extra words it made for a stilted read. I couldn't stay with it.

The story line and character work was good, and the book had a fairly smooth flow to it. I was entertained, but wasn't able to connect to the characters.

Quick read but loved the storyline. I liked the characters but it all moved so fast I didn't get the connection with them that I like.
