But if I thought I could go back to my old way of life, I was wrong.
The Bastard 2 is the story of Mordie, a hero with a more flexible sense of morality than most. It is set in a Camelot that never existed, and is a tale of swords, secrets, magic, revenge, betrayal, and even a dragon or two. It contains harem elements, nudity, and sex between the hero and multiple partners, all of whom are willing and comfortable with the idea of non-traditional relationships.
There’s been many tales about a ‘good’ King Arthur in Camelot but few about an ‘evil’ King Arthur. That’s what we have in these two books to date. The difference is in telling the tale from the viewpoint of those opposed to Arthur’s tyranny. Any fan of the fictional ‘Knights of the Round Table’ should enjoy this series as it takes the reader into the real fictional world surrounding those times. All is not a good fairy tale, nor is it totally evil. Instead it’s a balance required to survive and told very well by this author. Many good characters earn respect for their endurance and contributions. This is a fine second book and I highly recommend it to those who read for enjoyment and with open minds.
Like the Camelot twist, with the reversal of roles for the good/bad characters. Fast read with enough changes to keep it interesting. Like that he isn't a man whore who is scared of having male friends and associates. Expected him to free the dragon by now. Hope the author includes the average citizens if there is a revolution. A smaller cadre if it is an assassination. Good pacing, with few writing errors (sorry forgot to mention them). Looking forward to more books.
One thing that bugs me about book 2 is Mordie’s obsession with Anwen. They met once and through her actions had him hanged and yet, he not only forgives her but goes to extraordinary lengths to “save” her? From what? Others are already hiding her so well that he is unable to locate her. And what does she bring to the table? So she tried and failed to poison the king. She is now useless as far as the story of of Mordie—except for his unnatural obsession. Stalker much?
Jack Porter has fresh view of king. Arthur and what took place in Camalot. The characters are unique and interesting along with an unusualset of talents. These two books so far, well worth reading and are good example We of action fantasy. Can't wait for the next book in the series.
Sometimes the hero goes from being noble to being selfish. I guess the plot relies on his metamorphosis. His harem is Swiss cheese and his favor wanders which makes him more of skaliwag. I think that this book should have had him revisiting the Dragon. Maybe in the next one.
Who knew that what we thought was the truth about Camelot was a lie..keeps you on the edge all the way through. You ha e to keep reading and reading and still can't believe the the world you find yourself in..a must read..a must if you want the truth..Need book 3 out as soon as possible...
Good job, there are few errors but they can be ignored. I like the continuation from book 1 and this take on Camelot is entertaining. I like all the characters featured and that dude got his in the end. Keep it coming Jack, awaiting book 3.
The first book was a great story with a unique twist on Authorian legends. This one firmly takes the reins and runs with that unique view and makes it sing!!! An Incredibly entertaining storyllll
MC wasn’t very smart in the beginning of this one, let his emotions do his thinking for him. I won’t give anything away, it was still good enough that I finished it and am looking forward to reading book 3.
This was ok. It suffers from some of the same problems as the first one. The action and intrigue are decent taken individually. But as a whole there are ... holes.
I did continue on to read the final, 3rd book and it was much better.
Interesting take on the Arthur legend. Can’t wait to meet Merlin. Could stand alone as worth reading even without the harem aspect. I will be reading three.
Like the take on Arthur and camelot. Although the mordred in this book is too much an ass for me to warm up to. Story is interesting, and characters are well written.
