What a delightful book on how to come up with new and innovative solutions to a problem! I found this to be surprisingly compelling reading. For what could be a dry or technical subject, the author has brought it down to a personal level, easily engaging the reader. The very beginning of the book told brief stories of some famous polymaths--“Renaissance men”--and their broad abilities to synthesize ideas and solutions from their multiple areas of expertise. In another author's hands, this would have read like a high school term paper, but this author made it interesting. The middle section of the book focuses on you developing your ideas. First, he looks at the building blocks of creativity and then gives 6 tactics to help you achieve rapid idea generation. This book certainly got me thinking, and I know I will be referring to it again when I want to shake things up in my own writing and for my businesses. The last quarter of the book looks specifically at people in the arts, sciences, and business who are creative thinkers. After having read the middle portion of the book, you can understand and appreciate better how these people had used the creativity building blocks and followed some tactics that the author encourages us to do. If you are in a business or have a personal hobby that requires creativity and innovation, you may very well find this book to be helpful.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Really enjoyed how this book outlined how one can be more creative in order to generate ideas. I liked how this book provided a number of different examples; thereby, allowing one to choose what works best for them.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I was aware of some innovative methods which I already applied but the book really expands for all the alternatives you may want to apply to really bring all those possible ideas. Suggested 100
Simple, yet useful book taking us through case studies of prolific inventors , their practices and how they used their knowledge to synthesise across different domains and their way of using habits to theorise.
