Midsummer Night Shifts features the following authors: May Dawson Krista Ames Joanna Mazurkiewicz Margo Bond Collins Elvira Bathory Emma Cole Jen Ponce Lexi Ostrow Jocelyn Dex Trinity Hanrahan Jasmine Cross Ivy Hearne Meghyn King Justine Kitay Tracey H. Kitts Niobe Marsh Sharon Mayes Eve L. Mitchell Mandy Melanson Krystal Pena Tricia Schneider R.L. Wilson
Born and raised in Northern Indiana, Krista now resides in Northern Lower Michigan. (apparently she wasn't getting enough snow in Indiana:)) She is married to a very supportive man, Chip, who allows her to follow her true passion of writing and never complains when she is pirated away on her computer for hours. He even helps with proof-reading and is her “in-house” editor and her idea sounding board. She is also a mother of 4 ornery children who keep her plenty busy. With an addition of 2 beautiful chocolate lab sisters and 2 playful cats, there is never a dull or spare moment in her household.
Krista has always loved to read and would often sit up for hours into the night not able to put down a book until she was finished. She still reads when she can but her main focus is creating her own stories to share with the world.
REVIEW IN PROGRESS: Shifters and Alphas By Lacey Carter Anderson: It was Okay, but it wasn't my cup of tea. I wasn't a huge fan of Cassandra or their dynamic either. 3 Stars.
Urban Howl by Jocelyn Dex: Didn't really like this one. The "strong" heroine couldn't be connected to and the story was more about rejecting him than the reverse. 2.5 stars.
On the Hunt by Jen Ponce: Really wasn't understandable with the complete lack of background provided to the reader about the world and the relationships present. However it was better in the romance department than the previous story. 2.75 confused stars.
Stolen Magic by Joanna Mazurkiewicz: Nice but not super detailed or developed and contains some plot holes. It felt very rushed to me especially since it was not an insta-love kind of thing. 3 stars.
Rezco by Kat Parrish: It was different, completely done in the guys point of view. Although, I wouldn't say it was romance it was interesting and had some great elements. I wish it was longer. 3.5 stars.
Demon's Bounty by Margo Bond Collins: Pass/Not interested
Silver Soul by Niobe Marsh: Very celtic inspired. I loved it! It was almost like reading an ancient legend about 2 lovers. 4.5 stars.
Vertigo by Mandy Melanson: Pass/Not interested
Fighting Fate by Krista Ames The Secret of Site G by Elvira Bathory The Larksburg Wren by J. A. Cummings Accidentally Linked by Lexi Ostrow
The Dog Days of Summer by Ivy Hearne: It wasn't really a story so much as one chapter. Again, the book did not provide prior information to understand what happened before the summer or the way the fictional world worked. It came off as immature and very YA to me, which I'm a little too old for. And, the short chapter didn't make me want to check out the series either. I skimmed through most of it but if I was 15/16 I would have liked it for sure. 2 stars.
Canis Fall Academy: Year Orientation by Imani L. Hawkins Once upon a Full moon by Tracey H. Kitts Love Bites by Cassie Leigh In my Blood by Stacey Jaine McIntosh The Alpha's Duty by Eve L. Mitchell
Stranded with the Jaguar by Tricia Schneider: Stranded island, little romance. 2.75 stars.
Blood & Memory by Zoey Xolton To Claim a Bear by R.L. Wilson
The Midsummer Night Shifts anthology is a fantastic collection of over 20 shifter stories from a wonderful group of authors.
Review for The Alpha’s Duty by Eve L. Mitchell The story was beautifully written and had me deeply connecting with Misty and experiences within the Lycan pack. It also had me crying with the heartbreak and emotion expressed. I honestly love it when a story can do that, as it means that I’ve been so lost in the world and characters. It’s also filled with battles and pack politics, that any Urban Fantasy lover will enjoy.
The Alpha’s Duty by Eve L. Mitchell is a brilliant novella and side story to the Akrhyn Series. Although The Alpha’s Duty doesn’t directly interconnect with the timeline of the series, I definitely recommend reading the Akrhyn series to further explore this world, as the first book Into Darkness is a fascinating and addictive read.
I love anthologies as you can read your favourite authors and be introduced to new authors. I purchased this for the Shifters and Alphas By Lacey Carter Anderson. Such a great read. And further to this book is HEAPS more awesome stories too. Highly recommend.
The thrill, betrayal, Romance, the anticipation, and the roller coaster of emotions. These authors that wrote this did an amazing job bring some summer Romance to my world and helped me escape the real world for a bit.
The Alpha’s Duty introduces you to the world of the Akrhyn, where Vampyres, Lycans co-exist with humans, whilst Sentinels and Castors are tasked with ridding the world of the evil Drakyhn and protecting others from The Drakhyn.
Misty is a she-wolf who left her old pack after the loss of her family and has joined a new pack in an attempt to move on with her life. After finding Drakyhn in the woods close to her pack’s territory Misty is forced to rely on an unfamiliar Alpha in order to keep her pack safe. The arrival of this new Alpha brings some ugly truths to light and makes Misty question her decision to join this new pack. Can Elrick, the pack’s Second, protect Misty from the Drakyhn and more importantly convince Misty to stay with the pack?
Be warned, once you start this story you won’t be able to put it down! It is well written and engaging. Despite being a short story Eve makes you care about the characters and be invested in their relationships. The characters are believable and you get a good sense of how and why they made the choices that they did. The ideas of grief, loyalty, traditional ways of living versus more modern ideals, betrayal, the power of love as well as the potential dangers of blindly following a leader without question are also explored in this story. You also get a sense of the wider conflict between The Akrhyn and the Drakyhn that reaches far beyond the pack in this story. A glossary of terms, along with their pronounciations, is also included at the start of the story which also helps to give the reader a better understanding of the roles, abilities and behaviours of the different parties that are mentioned in the story. I found the pronounciations to be very useful.
You don’t have to have read Into Darkness which is Eve’s first book in the Akrhyn series, but after reading The Alpha’s Duty you will definitely want to.
I received an ARC of The Alpha’s Duty in return for an honest review
* Review of Stranded with the Jaguar* "A different from the usual plots I read and really liked how the story was develop. Honestly what happened to Lara and Beckett was awful! I couldn't imagine what would I do if something like that ever happens to me. It was a short story or at least that's what I felt. Hours like minutes until the end. I don't want to give details about the story but it really was a good one. The jaguar... I really liked it."
On the way to see her sister after a divorce Lara has a close call when the small plane has issues and the plane has a hard landing per Beckett to her they crashed. Beckett is a panther shifter and is trying g to hide it while waiting to.be rescued. I liked this book and recommend it.

Eve L Mitchell - Alpha’s Duty This story was beautiful journey. It was story of loyalty, caring, being brave and strong. The story of fighting till last breath and believing. I did already loved this amazing world shown in this story, and already fallen in love with. And I fallen surely in love with Misty as well. She is wonderful woman and great wolf. It’s also story of heavy duty of an alpha and importance of good beta, because sometimes it’s what can save the day instead of sending whole pack to perish. It was amazing.
Lacey Carter Andersen - Shifters and Alphas Three alpha shifters and one human woman, all of them protectors, “monster’s hunters”, great team at work (even if making alpha work according to you bidding is not so easy). It was just typical night. You know: kill the monster, got blood bath in his blood, scream on your team mates, and go out for a drink with your bff, or at least it should be. But we got on a different rollercoaster and passion comes in between. Hmm.. I already told too much. This story is hot.
I haven't read the entire collection so this is a review of the story I have read.
Stranded With the Jaguar by Tricia Schneider Lara is a single mom who needs a getaway. She schedules a vacation where she's planning a fling. Unfortunately, her trip doesn't go as planned when the plane she's on crashes, leaving her stranded with only the pilot on a deserted island. Beckett took this job as a favor to the original pilot. He's a loner and a jaguar shifter. He likes his life just the way it is until Lara crashes in to his life along with the plane he's piloting. She can't believe her luck, and what makes things even worse is the jaguar that she spots on the island. Together they have to find a way to survive until help arrives.
Fast paced story with great characters and well-created world building. I couldn't put this one down. Steamy with a HEA.
I have to start by pointing out the tremendous value for money this anthology is. Its pages hold multiple novelettes of outstanding quality, and readers will find at least one story they'll love and more than likely more.
I can honestly say I enjoyed every tale in Midsummer Night Shifts, though the stand outs were the stories from Zoey Xolton and Stacey Jaine McIntosh - thrilling, creative and written to an exacting standard.
Becket is a pilot with a secret. Lara is a businesswoman on a mission to have a one night stand on a tropical island. What neither of them expected was a plane crash. Luckily, neither were hurt. Both were stranded on a deserted island together and sparks ignited. This is a good shifter story. It is not a long story, but is a good story. I would recommend it.

So far I’ve read Alpha’s Duty by Eve L Mitchell and was not disappointed. She dives back into the Akrhyn world that she introduced us to in Into Darkness. It was a great short story and I really enjoyed leaning more about the Lycan’s. You see them struggle and put aside their differences for the good of their kind after turmoil and betrayal from those they thought they could trust. I definitely recommend this story!
These stories are fantastic I just finished The Alpha's Duty by Eve L Mitchell. I fell in love with Misty, a strong Lycan in danger from the Drakhyn. This story will keep you on the edge of your seat in the best of ways. I absolutely loved it. Can't wait to finish the other stories in this anthology.
STRANDED WITH THE JAGUAR A different take on the shifter story to books that I have read previously (wolves only), the character development was strong and I liked the overall storyline. I felt the end was a little rushed and could have been developed further but, otherwise, a good quick read.

A typical anthology, some are winners and some fill the rest of the book. My favourite was the one by Lacey Carter Andersen. Shifters and fated mates with a shot of witch's grew to make them jump into things. Super steamy. Imani Hawkins story was also good as well as Eve L. Mitchell's story.
This is a great paranormal romance compilation! So many wonderful stories.. it just boggles the mind! One of my special favorites is Stranded with the Jaguar, by Tricia Schneider. Fun and entertaining to read!

Stranded with the jaguar was an amazing short read. We see them crash onto an Island stranded and the bond between Lara and James grow. To them being rescued at the wrong moment when James is trying to explain something to Lara. To then end the book in a sweet way when she goes looking for him. Totally sweet little book
I love Shifters and Alphas - Lacey Carter Anderson's story in this anthology and I'm sure I will love the rest also. A perfect story to sit down with a couple of hot drinks and escape into a steamy world of sexy wolf shifters!
The larksburge wren J.a. cummings mid summer nights shift
This was a sweet story with a supper cool twist. I can't wait to see if more adventures come of this odd couple that seem to be the others perfect piece.
Brilliant collection by a wonderful selection of authors. Love the pack and alpha aspect particularly in Eve L Mitchell’s Alpha’s Duty short story. Worth the read.
1. 3 stars 2. 3 stars 3. 1 stars 4. 3 stars, weird read 5. 1 star 6. 1 star 7. 1 star, I don't think this was a romance read. 8. 1 star, not a whole story, only 3 chapters. 9. 1 star
Review in progress. Eve L. Mitchell's short story provides major bonus content for her lovers of the Akrhyn series and has all the ingredients you need for a swoon worthy story. Sprinkle in all the awesomeness from the other authors and you've got a guaranteed good book.
