Lamb on a Tombstone

Rate this book
A compelling and ghostly tale of a boy's journey through childhood grief, family strife, and the discovery of love. . .

From the bestselling author of Cahas Mountain and Lightning Shall Strike comes the haunting coming-of-age story of Elton, a shy boy who witnesses his father's sudden death. Left to be raised by his alcoholic mother, Elton rails against his dysfunctional home life as he finds unusual ways to cope with his sensitivities to the dead. His only solace is his spinster aunt, who harbors family secrets of her own.

At night, Elton watches the dead emerge from the woods behind his house. Ghost Girl, the most vulnerable among them, ultimately requests his help, and others soon follow. But when Elton discovers the recently deceased body of a homicide victim in a local stream, things take a turn toward the dark side. After alerting the authorities, he becomes embroiled in the investigation, unaware of his proximity to the murderer and the dangers now looming over his family and loved ones.
As Elton grows up, and life's entanglements threaten to overwhelm him, he moves closer to a fate and a truth he never imagined.

I really enjoyed this book. The author knows how to draw the reader into the story. It had enough paranormal mystery to keep it interesting until the end. The ending was a bit of a surprise!
